This place is fantastic! We were outside on the fantastic patio every minute we were on the property. Went inside only for sleep, bathrooms and to grab a utensil from the well stocked house. It has everything needed for a seamless vacation!

Perfect Get Away

This was the perfect place for a couple days of relaxing with friends and family. The house has plenty of room for everyone to have their privacy, but nice common areas for everyone to hang out. Lots of bathrooms, too. The best part was the location right on the river. The yard is absolutely beautiful with abundant seating including several lounge chairs and a porch swing. There's also a nice fire pit with chairs gathered around. And the dock is the perfect place for fishing or launching off in a canoe, tube or kayak. Having the kayaks and canoe were really convenient! The river is very nice for floating a good ways down on both sides of the property. Our kids enjoyed the river for two days solid. Maria was a gracious host, meeting us upon our arrival and making sure everything was ok. She was only a phone call away if we needed her. Although we hated to leave the property, we did enjoy its close proximity to our favorite restaurant in the word, The Gristmill. Thanks for a great time Maria--we hope to return very soon!

Rented this house for golf vacation. Plenty of room, ideal for large groups. We had 15 guys staying here and there was plenty of room. Back yard is great for cookouts, cocktails, ect. Owner is organized and accommodating. This was our second year in this house and we plan on coming back. If you need a large house in a great location this is the one.

We had 11 adults & 2 children (ages 3-65) staying at this lovely house for a family/friend get-together and golfing. Everyone in our group absolutely loved the property on the river - seating available for twice our group. We are big coffee drinkers & we were so thankful for the 3 coffee pots! All our meals and happy hours were outdoors because the weather was perfect and felt no need to be inside except to bathe & sleep (very comfy beds). The kids got to feed ducks and turtles, catch fish, swing, canoe & make smores over the firepit. A lovely time was had by all & we're looking forward to April 2013 adding an additional night! Thanks Maria for our best stay ever in NB/Gruene (and we've been going up every April for 20+ years)

River Haven on the Guadalupe River

The Guadalupe River setting is so beautiful and the house was so spacious. We were five couples and everyone had a chance to chose the room of their choice, even the one that showed up later got a great choice. The men played golf two of the days and the ladies went shopping of course.

Our son and his fiance selected Canyon Lake, Texas as the site of their March 2012 wedding. Knowing we would have a large family turnout from around the country, we selected Maria's Gruene River House for our wedding headquarters. It was an ideal location for housing our immediate family members, kids, grandson, nephew and niece. In addition, the expansive yard fronting the Guadalupe River provided a terrific location for the family picnic on the night everyone arrived in New Braunfels for the wedding weekend. When we arrived at the house, Maria and her assistant were busily engaged in cleaning the yard to insure everything was in good shape for the wedding events. Maria graciously showed us the entire house and explained where she stored various items. In short, she was very helpful, the house and yard were clean and ready for use, and the house fit our needs perfectly. Everyone who attended the family picnic had complimentary comments on the house and its beautiful setting. We highly recommend the house for informal family gatherings. With the wedding in March, we did not get to use the river amenities much, but our daughter did kayak on the river and she enjoyed herself immensely. A summer stay would be a lot of fun both on the property and on the river.

More fun than the beach

We had a wonderful time and will definiately be going back. Ages 1 thru 63 all had a great spring break. I love the yard and all the bathrooms were handy for 21 people. The kids lived on the river with the kayaks and canoes.

My friends and I stayed here in early March for a gettaway during the week. The house has everything you need for an extended and / or even a short stay. PLENTY of beds, and one of the most amazing backyards built for hanging out on the river with family and friends. This is the perfect vaction house for adults, kids, or both - and Gruene is in walking distance. The canoes and kayaks came in handy and the dock was perfect for some fishing. Also, Maria (the owner) is a wonderful host who made the planning and our stay as pleasant as could be. Probably hard to find a better house and experience than this!

Highly recommend this Gruene retreat. Would be perfect for family reunion. Our 10 person book club found it perfect and by end of weekend we even discovered a bedroom we hadn't seen! The river is just beautiful, there is lots of outdoor seating. Great find!

Just spent Thanksgiving week at this great house. This was the first time our family of 20 were all together and this house was perfect. The owner was delightful and our family ranging from 75 to 3 had a wonderful time. The pictures are accurate and I would recommend this rental highly.

3 Night Halloween Getaway

Property was delightful as described and pictured. November weather was picture perfect for outside R&R. Some bedrooms without baths are a bit inconvenient but for family and good friends (as we were) it worked. Location to Gruene and New Braunfels activities was excellent. Brochures in the house for sightseeing were a big help.

My brother and sister-in-law rented the property to house family for their son's wedding. It's in great location within walking distance to Gruene. We had the rehearsal dinner there and there was plenty of room for everyone to sit for dinner and visiting. We hunt Christmas lights and Japanese lanterns all over the back yard and it looked beautiful. It's a very unique home with room for a large group or family.

Recently I stayed at Gruene River Haven with about 15 other women for a girl's weekend. The property is absolutley beautiful/breathtaking. I would absolutely return. The house was very quaint, clean and plenty of room. The house owner was very nice, accesable and informative. We were literally walking distance from Gruene Hall, Tubing and restaurants - but still felt like we had privacy and separation from town. Definitley worth the price. And again, the back yard area on the water is amazing.

10 women from the neighborhood had a fabulous stay at this property on the Guadalupe. There was lots of room to spread out,all rooms were clean and well maintained. The grounds are shady and there is seating for everyone outside. Favorites are having coffee near the river and singing around the piano.Great meal at the Grist Mill

My family age from 10-80 years old stayed at the Riverfront House for my son wedding. Everyone had a great time with so much to do or just want to be lazy. The place was clean and the ground was great for everyone. The amenity was great inside and outside. We even had a mean horseshoe game to play.Some even went on the kayak around the lake. It was the perfect place for the whole family that came from out of State. They got to see some of Texas beautiful area even the deers came out to greet them. Our group of family and friends recently enjoyed Labor Day Weekend at your lovely property. Warm, comfortable, and relaxing, each of us commented that "it feels like Grandma's house" in the best possible way! The kitchen was adequately stocked for large meal preparation and the guest rooms and baths accomodated everyone comfortably and privately. The majority of our time was spent enjoying the outdoor space. The yard has large shade trees, multiple decks, a variety of seating and dining areas along with a dock for fishing or access to the river. From the first cup of coffee in the morning, to long after the sun goes down, there's nothing like living on Gruene time! We can't wait to return!

Superb Vacation Home

We had a large group (25 of us) that wanted to vacation on the river for the weekend. We all were families and had children as young as 4 years old, to teenagers, to college kids, to us adults. Everyone had a superb time! The house was large enough to house everyone, and each family had their own space. There were plenty of canoes and kayaks for the kids to explore the river. The house and the grounds were in great shape! Maria was very curtious and answered any questions. Highly recommend this house!

This property is great for large groups. We had 19 ranging from 1 month to 85 years for a family reunion. There was privacy for all families yet big space area for group gatherings. The river was easily accessible and there was seating in several areas in the yard. The house was ready at our arrival and Maria and Sammy were most accommodating. There was a bad storm that took out the power and they were on top of contacting the power company and keeping us up to date on the progress. Would recommend this rental.

We had a family reunion at this property and found it to be wonderful. It was confortable for a group as large as ours which was 24 people. The house is great and the backyard is even better with all of the different sitting areas right on the river, the dock and the kayaks that are available. The location does not get better since it is right @ Greune and Schlitterbaun and close to San Antonio. We highly recommend it!!!!

This house is on the main stretch of river just up stream from Gruene and has an awesome yard right on the water. It also has 8 queen beds with their own room which allows couples to have their own privacy. We love this place and would recommend to any type of group. Great setting for family get-together

Our family was gathering for my niece's wedding and this was the perfect spot! The lay-out of the house provided privacy for many different family groupings and wonderful, big common area for fun and fellowship. There was plenty of room to entertain the grooms family, family and friends visiting from out of town and provide a downstairs suite for the bride and her bridesmaids. The yard and grounds were utilized to the fullest as we enjoyed the riverside setting and the kayaks and swimming. It was nice that the house is upstream of the crowded section of the Guadalupe, so we saw very few floaters other than our own party. We saw lots of wildlife and birds, deer feeding across the river and the shade of the large trees on the property provided comfortable outdoor temperatures.The property was easy to find. Specialty and grocery shopping was close by, adding ease to our activities. Maria was delightful to work with and wonderful to meet and visit with. The property was as it was represented in the listing. Maria also provided a floor-plan that helped us be prepared ahead of time as to where to house family groupings to optimize comfort and privacy. This property was a big contributor to the perfection of a special family event. Given the opportunity, we'll be back.

Great Family Reunion

We held our family reunion starting April 17th and departing April 24th with people arriving from all points of the USA. We ranged in age from 3 month to over 50 and there was 14 plus people. The kids loved swimming in the river and Marie and Sammie were kind enough to provide a large float. We explored Gruene, Blanco, San Antonio and other road trips but coming back to the house was always a welcome. Many family meals were held around the 2 tables and the place was "spic and span" when we arrived. If we ever meet in Texas again,this is where we will stay. The photos do not show the true beauty of the home and the surrounding area.

Our group of 9 guys have traveled together every other year for 20 years to play golf. This year we chose San Antonio and were fortunate enough to find the Guadalupe Riverfront House. We had a great time relaxing after golfing all day in the big chairs overlooking the river. The setting is very nice and the accomodations great. The Perfect Party

I decided to rent a house near Gruene so close friends and family could help celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. In our very first Team Twenty Twice committee meeting, one friend located this house on his smartphone. He called Maria immediately for information. She answered the phone to say she was entertaining guests and then returned our call a.s.a.p. We knew she was going to be great to work with! And in the end - she was EXACTLY the person you want to rent from; prompt, timely, courteous, and helpful. After we all met at Gruene Hall (a very Texas spot of ours), my wife thought everyone was headed back to Austin for dinner and to regroup later. But there was one more surprise: The house. Some friends hung a few lights in some trees and placed candles around the exterior and we had a caterer (Fritz's in New Braunfels who I highly recommend) set up a fajita and taco bar. When she saw the amazing view and all her friends she simply began to cry. It was perfect. The house is really spectacular if not a little odd and quirky, but in a good way! The yard leading down to the river is just beautiful. Their is ample seating, a great little dock to hang out and TONS of places to just relax, talk, enjoy company or be alone. Maybe the neatest spot on the entire river is a big "throne" cut from a tree right on the river front. The description was right on target and the pictures very accurately depict the layout, but they cannot portray the true serene beauty. This was a great experience for me. We are already planning to rent the house again this summer.

Great Experience with Friends

Our ladies tennis team traveled to New Braunfels to compete for the USTA Senor Women's Tennis Texas State Championship. Fifteen of us stayed in the house and had a ball (no pun intended). The house was perfect for us with plenty of sleeping places and bathrooms. It was clean and well furnished. We were there for four and 1/2 days. When we weren't on the courts, we were inside the house eating and playing games around the two large tables, or we were outside visiting under the starry sky by the riverside and a crackling fire. We saw deer everywhere and watched two of them romping on the other side of the river. One night a large buck came running through the property right past where we were sitting. We didn't win the state championship this year, but we made it to the semi-finals! Hopefully we'll return for another try next year. If so, we'll be back at the Guadalupe Riverfront House! Thanks so much, Maria, for your wonderful house and for being so easy to work with and accomodating as we made all of our arrangements for coming.

My nephew rented this house for a family reunion - 20 of us ranging in age from 2 to 77. The house was very nice & in a great location. Plenty to do for all ages. We really enjoyed the yard & river access. I do have a couple of suggestions to make the stay even more enjoyable. Better quallity towels & linens. My wash cloth was so old & scratchy I went out & bought some to use. Also, provide more than one towel & wash cloth for each person. We stayed four nights & would have liked to have had a couple of towels each. It would also be nice if you would provide an extra blanket in each bedroom. Overall the house was very clean, except for the facets in the bathroom were grimy. But, overall the experience was great & I would not hesitate to rent this house again.

This was our 3rd year in a row to stay at Maria's House. We had 10 couples who were all able to sleep extremely comfortable. We love this house and have already reserved again for next year. The house is located just upstream from Rockin R on the main stretch of the Guadalupe where the majority of the floaters are coming by. It is extremely well kept and has an incredible yard that we utilize the majority of our stay. I highly recommend this house for any type of age group.

Our Christmas Stay at the Riverfront House in Gruene

Our family of seventeen decided to get away on Christmas Day 2009 and we chose this grand ol house on the river bank . We weren't sure how well we'd all fare under the same roof for three nights but we couldn't believe how much room, as well as privacy we enjoyed. It was bitter cold outside so we had the fire pit roaring almost non stop. Lucky for us it fiinally warmed up enough to use the canoes and kayak, and shop in Gruene. We hit the dance hall in town for a lively afternoon, and really enjoyed the close proximity of the local grape house. A fabulous time we will treasure always - I wish you could have heard all our laughter. Thanks Maria - we hope to visit again soon!

20 ladies from Houston rented this beautiful home for a long weekend earlier this year. Everyone was awed by that first view of the river and yard as you come down the driveway. Fantastic! The two lower patio areas by the river are very peaceful and relaxing. There was plenty of room for everyone in the home to eat the food that was catered in, and there are lots of different areas inside and out for various activities to be happening at once. We thoroughly enjoyed the shopping in Gruene. The home was wonderfully quiet and private, and we had an incredible trip. Some said it was the best ever! This group of ladies have been going on a spring trip together for 14 years.

Our family reunion in Maria's lovely house and front yard exceeded our expectations and we thoroughly enjoyed the week we stayed there. There was a slight hiccup with the dishwasher when we arrived, but a new dishwasher was installed and there were no issues with the house after that. The Guadalupe River and the canoes were a major source of enjoyment, particularly since we were there in July. The surrounding area, including Austin and San Antonio, provided more places we wanted to visit than we had time to. There were thirteen in our party, including nine adults and four soon to be adults, and they all said they had a great time in the New Braunfels area and staying in the Gruene River Haven on the Guadalupe.

The multi-state and multi-generational Jonses love having our family reunion at Gruene River Haven. Our hostess and her crew are gracious, informed, and flexible. The property is accomodating enough that one can sneak away to a private room for solitude or enjoy lush outdoor areas where the whole crowd passes time storytelling and playing bluegrass (without interrupting any toddlers' naps). And the river!! Ahhhhh- beauty, peace, and exercise for all generations.

This was our first Family Reunion at this beautiful location and it far exceeded our expectations. Lots of room for a large group. Everyone - from 6 months to 60 had a great time. Easy access from Houston & San Antonio made our turnout the best ever! Thank you for everything! We will see you next year!

we had eight couples, everybody had a great time, house was very clean and stayed nice and cool,latest landscaping job by maria looks great,we really enjoyed the chairs down by the river and are looking forward to coming back next year.

What a great place for a family get together. In the past, we have had beach trips and our grandchildren and children all agreed that this was our best trip ever. Looks like we'll be coming back to Texas in the future.

This was a beautiful house. The owner and caretaker were extremely nice. We had 16 people and we still didn't manage to fill the house. The back yard overlooking the river was amazing. There were so many places for us to hang out in the back yard while we grilled bbq. Everyone had a blast and we can't wait to visit again!

Riverside Haven was the perfect setting for our family reunion. The grounds were utterly breathtaking and the house easily accommodated our large group. Everything we needed was supplied from housing basics to two large gas grills and even canoes. Maria, the owner, is responsive and generous - she let us check in a bit early and stay late since no new occupants were arriving. We're already making plans to return next year. If you're looking for tranquility with the option to engage in a little outdoor adventure, Riverside Haven is the perfect home for you.

This is a lovely, unique house. We were at the house for two days before we found all of the the rooms. We stayed for three nights and very much enjoyed he property. The outdoor area is wonderful and has everything a large family could ever neeed. The river here is peaceful and beautiful. Another great thing about this house is how close it is to Gruene and the San Marcos outlets.

Three friends and myself spent a wonderful week enjoying the New Braunfels,Texas area. The B & B is most comfortable and has the advantage of the beautiful river and other scenery. I am looking forward to another visit sometime.

We had a lovely long and relaxing weekend -- plenty of comfortable rooms for all of us (5 couples)as well as a gorgeous view of the river, great area restaurants and shopping, and convenient to San Antonio and Austin. A very pleasant location!!
