The Interlude House in the gated community of Orchid Bay, Great Guana Cay, includes two main sections: The lower level which contains a two (2) bedroom and a separate one (1) bedroom apartment, both of which are currently under long term leases and are not now available for vacation rental.
The Ground floor and second floor levels (The Main House) includes 5000 sq. ft. of living space; with a large, cathedral ceiling Great Room, which opens through multiple French doors to an 80 ft. long deck with a 180 degree panoramic view of the Sea of Abaco, a large open kitchen which overlooks a large family room and the same access to the deck and view as the Great Room, and a large formal dining room next to the kitchen and foyer. The second floor is reached by a curved stairway from the foyer and a back, spiral staircase accessing the library and two of the bedrooms. The Main House is topped with an observation tower a large observatory room with a commanding view of the Sea of Abaco to the West and across the Island to the Atlantic Ocean to the East. The Main House can be rented in two possible configurations:
CONFIGURATION 1: Six (6) en-suite bedrooms, with access to a viewing tower and a library. The bedrooms are furnished: 3 Kings, 2 Queens, 1 Twin (2 beds). Five baths have walk-in showers and one has a tub.
The rate for this configuration is $2,400 per week (except for Christmas and Thanksgiving weeks.)
CONFIGURATION 2: Five (5) en-suite bedrooms with the sixth (6th) private entrance bedroom, separate from the rest of the house, occupied by the owner/manager. Interaction between vacationers and the owner is minimal to none, however he is available for problems or assistance.
The rate for this configuration is $2,000 per week (except for Christmas and Thanksgiving weeks.)
The main level also includes a large Great Room with cathedral ceilings, remote controlled and rain protected sky lites that open for ventilation, and multiple French doors overlooking the deck and the Sea of Abaco. A spiral staircase provides access to the loft level. The large “open” kitchen overlooks the very large family room, the deck, and includes a view through to the sea of Abaco. A formal dining room is accessible from the foyer and the kitchen. A large pantry and laundry room is located off the kitchen and provides a back door entry.
Grand Abaco Island is a massive island in the "Abacos" region of the Bahamas, surrounded on all sides by miles of relatively shallow waters. Marsh Harbour (airport MHH) is the largest city in the Abacos. About eight miles to the East, a line of barrier islands ("CAYS") separates the shallow "flats" from the Atlantic Ocean to the East: including Man O'War Cay, Geeen Turtle Cay, Hopetown and Great Guana Cay. The waters between Grand Abaco Island and the barrier "Cays" is known as the Bay or the "Sea of Abaco."
Great Guana Cay is a thin barrier island with the Atlantic Ocean on the Eastern shore and the "Sea of Abaco" along the Western shore. The Atlantic Ocean side includes one of hte best beaches in the area, 5-7 miles long. Only a few hundred yards off the Ocean beach is one of the best reefs in the Bahamas, famous for scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities. The deep Atlantic Ocean just to the East of Great Guana Cay offers fabulous deep-water fishing.
INTERLUDE HOUSE is on the "Sea of Abaco" side of Great Guana Cay, but only 6-8 minutes away by golf cart from Orchid Bay's private beach on the Atlantic Ocean. The Ocean on the other side of the island is visible from our house's "Tower."
Two large, wide decks run along the back of the house on the upper and lower levels (half covered and protected from rain). These back decks provide a breathtaking view of the Sea of Abaco, and fantastic sunsets. (We have even watched night time shuttle launches from Cape Canaveral from our deck.) The humming birds are a delight to watch as they feed at the feeders hanging on our back deck. (Be sure to refill the feeders with a little sugar water.)
A large automatic emergency generator provides service in case of a local power failure.
A hot tub / jacuzzi is situated on the lower deck, with a view of the water, and is available to all guests. A large deck/dock provides additional areas for enjoying the views, fishing, swimming, or servicing a boat during fair weather.

After a life-long love of the Bahamas and especially the Abaco Island area, a retired physician with his wife and son had the house built as a location to retire. Our son will be managing the property at the times when we are visiting the US.

Interlude is beautiful and big! The house is equipped with everything a large group of family and friends desire for a remarkable vacation. The owners were accomodating to all our needs and questions. I emailed them two weeks before our arrival and asked if there was an outside grill. They responded there was not, but we could use the one at the marina. That was fine with us, however, when we arrived, there sat a new gas grill on the deck. That says a lot about the owners and managers. The marina owners were most helpful, friendly, and accomodating. This was our 5th trip to the Abacos and by far the best!!!
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house has everything anyone could possibly hope for while on vacation. I cook meals while I am away and this house is a cooks dream. Crockpot, large pots, toaster oven, microwave etc. This is the best stocked house I have rented. It is in the most beautiful, secure location. It is very spacious and clean. The beds are very comfortable. The view from the patio is spectacular. This house is percfect for 2 families, with seperate living quarters. Orchid Bay Marina is wonderful with a beautiful pool and private beach that comes with the house. Our boat was safe and secure at the marina. The house is a short golf cart ride away from the Marina. Humming birds came to visit daily on the porch at the feeders. You can veiw tropical fish right from the dock in the backyard. This house house it all. I would live here in a heartbeat. I am saddend to have had to leave after 10 days. This is my favorite vaction home and I will be back again soon! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
