5 of us went for Thanksgiving. We made our Thanksgiving dinner in the spacious kitchen. We lounged around watching the enormous TV and played board games at the giant dining room table. The place was comfortable and maintained well. Although there was a broken toilet on the first day in the downstairs bathroom. We did notify someone but I think because it was a holiday weekend, they might not have been able to come out to fix it. There are stairs leading up to the bedrooms so if you are traveling with an elderly person, you might want to think twice. We really enjoyed our stay, Thanksgiving and delicious wine. There are a lot of wineries in the area and breweries in the area as well. The Toogood winery is also very nice.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We rented this house through Toogood Winery for a weekend wine tasting get-away for 6 friends plus a 2 1/2 year old. It was fantastic! Everyone had privacy, due to the 3 roomy bedrooms; the kitchen enabled us to cook some meals; the home was modern and clean and very roomy. Situated in the heart of the Sierra foothills wine region, it was a convenient place to stay. We'll definitely consider renting it again in the future!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

My family and I rented this home for a wedding up in the Placerville area as an alternative to staying in a hotel, the house is adorable from the exterior, charming, straight out of a magazine...That’s about where the good time end! After taking 3 hours to find the winery to pick up the key, no one was there, and nether was the 6 bottles of wine :( My thought was they could have just left it outside? We did find a case of wine later at the house, and went ahead and took 6 bottles, initally they asked us to ship these back, they have now said we can keep them. Anyhow, we finally got to the house, and began moving things in, the fridge, had food in it like someone was living there...Milk, eggs, produce, and was not clean at all, pretty weird and gross. We decided to just move on with the day and take our things to our rooms. In the Master, as we were hanging things in the closet, we came upon someone a mans underwear, shoes, and clothes, my first thought was someone else renting the house this weekend? I mean they can hide the underwear!!! The house was marginal in its cleanliness...the kitchen has a long way to go before they can claim it to be fully stocked, the only pan was 6in in diameter. Not really sufficient to cook breakfast. Oh and several playboy magazines in the drawers, should you need breakfast entertainment… At the end of our trip, we decided to leave the key in a planter, and not risk the drive back to the winery, we did call and let them know (we also were catching a flight). They let us know we would be charge per the contact 100.00…I have spoke to them and let them know of our experience and they appreciate the feedback but still charged the 100.00. We were left with a feeling that someone left right before we got there, with the number of extremely personal items, and they may be coming back and forth, just a weird feeling, not one I would anticipate when you pay a premium rate for a home in Placerville. I understand you are renting a home, BUT when you are renting a home as a vacation rental the tenant should be at mind and their comfort in your home as well, as they are choosing your home for their destination. This place has a lot to work on.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.

My wife & I along with another couple stayed here while working/relaxing in the area, could not have enjoyed the house any more then we did. Everything we needed was there and more then enough room for all to relax. The master shower is almost worth the price alone.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My family and I (2 adults, 2 kids (6&8 yrs old)) were looking for a place close enough to make the drive to a snow park within reason but not actually in the snow. This place was perfect. We drove to Toogood Winery in Fairplay to grab the keys and was pleasantly surprised by a complimentary tasting and a bottle of wine. :) About 15 minutes away from the winery, is the Little Yellow House. The home itself is quite spacious and thankfully, the zoned heaters warmed the house up quickly. It appears to us that maybe this is a new rental as the home has that new house feel.. paint, appliances, amenities all brand new! The wine master's suite was roomy with a fantastic bathroom and double vanity sink outside the shower/jacuzzi tub room. The other 2 bedrooms were nice and shared a Jack and Jill bathroom. All 3 bedrooms are upstairs. The only downside is that they may still be outfitting the property with essential supplies. I like to cook and the kitchen wasn't as well stocked as some places we've rented. We couldn't find a chopping board, limited serving bowls and only one small fry pan but that did not stop us from cooking 2 great dinners both nights we stayed. The TV is enormous and the DISH service was great. We brought our wii console and playing on that screen was awesome! The living room setup was cozy with the fireplace, couches were comfy and really, we came up to do a bunch of nothing. Mission accomplished! It was about 1 hour to Sierra at Tahoe snow park. The roads to highway 50 were icy at 7:30AM so be careful if you come up in the Winter. The young grape vines in the front yard were dormant... and I bet this place is gorgeous in the Spring and Summer. The staff at Toogood Winery were fantastic, super attentive and responsive. I would highly recommend this house! Thank you Paul and the Toogood Winery Estate crew!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
