Very good, cozy and nice place. Would stay again and willing to recommend to anyone. 1. Location - 10 min from Rail station, (VSL), 2 min from waterbus stop, in the middle of everything. Not on the busy street. 2. Apartment - 2nd floor - kitchen, 3rd floor master bedroom and family room, "4th floor" two beds. Air conditions. Warning - if you have limited mobility, it might be an issue. But then again, in Venezia you have to walk a lot. Cozy, clean and nice. Windows overlook inside, so not noisy. 3. Large bed in MB, two twin size beds and queen sleeper sofa (sleeps 6?) 4. Owner/management - very thoughtful - sent someone to meet at the station, there is a folder in the apartment with very useful information. 5. There is a food store within 50m. Few other shops and restaurants. Major church just across. Enjoyed a lot! Thank you. Michael

Four of us stayed here for just two nights earlier this month. We really appreciated finding a place which would let for only 2 nights - so many have a minimum of 3 and we didn't want to stay in a hotel with no cooking or relaxing space. Fantastic value for money - what kind of hotel could you find for the prices here per couple? A = a horrible one! Casa Stella has a fantastically equipped kitchen, we shopped at the wonderful Rialto market and cooked a great meal, saving us tons of money compared to going to a restaurant although we did had a great meal too at the Muro Frari restaurant, which is literally just round the corner, on our first night. The apartment is in a really handy location, right in the middle of the real Venice where its not just tourists on day trips and you can make believe that just for a short while you are lucky enough to live there too. The wifi worked fine, the sitting room is very comfortable, Carla's notes have some good advice about shops and places to eat. Its true that its not all huge fluffy towels and complimentary slippers but if you want that you'll have to pay ten times this per night and go to a 5* hotel, if you want to get a real feeling for living in venice without breaking the bank I recommend Casa Stella very highly. Thanks so much Carla, we will be pointing friends in your direction in the future.

We stayed at this apartment for our final two nights in Italy, the first week of September. We were met at the train station, which I must say is a god send. It was hot, we were tired and it was very busy, we were very grateful just to follow her to the apartment. It's a great location!! Close walk to everything you would want to see, lots of great restaurants and shopping nearby. The owner was helpful and responsive in accomodating us...I would stay at this apartment again even though some of the negative comments are accurate, it's still Venice! We tried to overlook what wasn't perfect and had a great time anyway.

I was sad to see negative reviews of Casa Stella. We spent 4 nights there and had a great time. We had no problems with the WiFi at the apartment, and also used the city WiFi while on the go. The air con was adequate, even reaching the bedroom, and it was very hot outside! Our kids even complained that it got too cold up in the loft! The location was great - we loved being in San Polo, especially near the Frari church and the best gelato place. The Billa was super convenient! The kitchen was pretty well stocked. It was a little funky at first to have it below, but we got to like it - kept cooking smells out of the rest of the apartment. We found the stovetop espresso maker and had great coffee every morning. Carla's notes led us to a good bakery in San Toma, and she was quick to suggest a nice place for lunch to try squid ink pasta - she even called the restaurants to make sure they we're serving it that day! We bought seafood and produce at the Rialto markets and had many good home cooked meals from that kitchen. We muddled around with the washing machine, but that was our fault, as we didn't find the instruction booklet. We ended up hanging clothes all over the living room to dry, but there were plenty of hangers, and everything got dry within a day. We didn't find the apartment dirty by any means. The towels were a little musty, but after doing laundry once, you appreciate the difficulty of the situation - they were fine. I don't recall the sheets being anything but adequate either. All in all, I feel that the spaciousness and quiet and convenience of Casa Stella were worth the rent. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

The internet did not work at all while we were there. We let the owner know but she did not help us to get it working. The kitchen is on the first floor and the air conditioner does not cool it off or the master bedroom since the air conditioner is in the main part and up near the loft. The apartment was fairly clean but could have used a good sweeping. The location was great.

Owner response: These guests spent 36 hours in Venice and I have to admit that I did not see the text message right away. When I got it, it was just too late. This morning I went to Casa Stella with an electrician (eventually to fix the plug) and with a PC expert and when he switched on the laptop, after typing the password, GOOGLE appeared... Infact, many guests had no problems with internet during their stay. In case any guest has a problem with my wifi, I also provide an internet key and free access to citywifi. As far as AC is concerned, guests coming from different countries have to understand that this is a very fragile and gorgeous city and we are not allowed to hang out of the window dozens of AC machines. As I previously said, the hot weather did not seem to be a problem in the past, but now, I bought a powerfull and very silent fan, that will help the comfort of future guests in every area of the house! For the same reason, floors made in TERRAZZO VENEZIANO (it consists of a blend of marble, granite, onyx, or glass chips), may look poorly cleaned to someone, while are just ancient and special to a more sophisticated eye. This city is built on water with a long ancient history. Travelers coming here should approach with “different eyes”, as they are not visiting a typical Western metropolitan city of the 21st century. This city is delicate and not to waste this marvelous heritage, we have to give up for a short while the usual life standards (of course, never giving up excellent cleaning conditions!) and to start appreciate its values and its imperfections!

We regret our 3-night, very expensive stay at this apartment. There was NO WIFI at any time! The owner's description of this property was nothing like the reality of the apartment. It was dirty and dingey -- too bad, because it is located in a lovely, historical building. Specifically, the dining chairs were originally upholstered in white fabric, and are now filthy and sticky. The upholstered sofas are also dirty. We found some old sheets to cover them up so we could sit on them. The bedroom is not air conditioned, and was very hot. The sheets are all mismatched and some are stained. The pillows, too, were stained and appeared to be very old. In the kitchen, there was no coffee pot, espresso maker or electric kettle, and the tea pot was disgustingly dirty. There was no corkscrew. The dishes were dirty. The tea towels and pot holders were dirty, smelly and greasy. The owner supplied watered-down dishwashing soap and old, smelly sponges. In the bathroom, the towels were dingey, stained and smelly. Even the shower curtain was stained. The positive aspects -- the air conditioning in the living room worked great and someone met us at the train to take us to the apartment. The apartment was in a nice part of town. We felt totally swindled...

Owner response: I am very sad to read such a displeased review about Casa Stella and I’m also quite surprised by the bad experience this guest had at our house. We keep very high standards in terms of cleaning, furnishings and fittings, that’s why so many people loved their stay at our house. The household linen is carefully washed and ironed at each house cleaning and we provide each of our guests a fair amount of sheets and towels. It may happen, though, that in high season, due to high turn over, bed&bath linens are not perfectly coordinated, but we regularly buy new pillows and linens, to provide the best comfort to our guests. In the kitchen, you will be surprised to find 2 corkscrews (now 3, as I thought that none was left!), a brand new tea pot that I bought at the beginning of June and have never been used (so it’s quite difficult that it may look dirty), a green rubber pot-holder (rubber usually don’t stink), under the sink future guests will see 2 or 3 bottles of dish soap (we always buy big quantities, as carrying heavy grocery in Venice is not comfortable) etc. etc. Lastly we do provide espresso coffee maker, as we are Italians and we live on coffee. This is mostly true as we also provide 100% Arabica coffee as a greet gift to our guests. Starting from today, American coffee lovers will be able to enjoy a true filter coffee in Venice (we also provide filters). We do appreciate suggestions and hints from our guests, trying always to improve and assure the best comfort to future travelers, as long as they correspond to reality! As far as internet is concerned, we wrote a HUGE sign not to touch the modem, as any one that stays in the house for some reason is misplacing it, which prevents it from working. Guests are kindly asked to call us in case they need assistance and we are promptly able to set it back to work. As a last point, this is a very hot Summer, as it was 2011, but we never had any complaint about the bedroom. As I trust that guests may not feel cool enough with air conditioning coming from the living room, this morning I bought a very powerful fan. I feel comfortable that future guests may understand the big efforts we do everyday to welcome them in our house and to make them feel at home!

We loved our stay at Casa Stella. The living room was very roomy and it was great to have a place to relax after walking around all day. The bedroom was nice and private and the loft worked perfectly for the children. It was fun to stay in such a historic building with all the beams exposed. The location was wonderful - a nice quiet square but walking distance from everything. We would stay here again and would recommend it to others. One caveat is that we didn't really use the kitchen at all so can't comment on that. We did use the washing machine once we found it under the sink in the bathroom, but that's our fault for not looking harder for it.

It is a spacious apartment even for our family of five! The apartment is well equipped and is in a good location within 15 mins walking distance from Piazza Roma, St Lucia Ferrovia or Rialto bridge. Near the apartment are many affordable trattorias and yummy gelatos at 1.20euros! There are also many souvenir shops, takeaway pizza stalls, mini-supermarket nearby. Carla, the owner, was very prompt, friendly and helpful. When our flight was delayed by a night due to cabin crew strike, she did not charge us. As the bedroom is on the second level, the steep steps may be fun for the young but the elderly may find it a challenge. The wifi signal was weak throughout our stay and we gave up trying after a while. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here which offered good value for money.

We had a wonderful 5 night stay in Casa Stella. The apartment has a unique layout, the kitchen is on the first level, stairs come up in the middle of the living room on the 2nd level where there is also a separate bedroom with a very comfortable bed and then there is a small loft with 2 single beds. The kitchen has everything you need and the bathroom has a tub and shower as well as a washing machine which was a big plus for us. Topping it all is a rather strange collection of large wood beams supporting the ceiling. The location couldn't be better, the apt overlooks a small courtyard with a magazine stand, it was very quiet. There's a small supermarket right around the corner. It's across a small canal from the Frari church and a 15 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and maybe 25 to St Marks. A great place to stay in a wonderful city, we would certainly stay here again and definitely recommend it

We just finished staying here for three nights and really enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect to explore (or get lost in) Venice. We were met at P. Roma as promised, which is quite important as you will never find the apartment on your own, so this type of service is really good. Once we arrived at the apartment, everything was explained to us. There was always enough hot water and the water pressure is good. Wifi worked well. We were a bit surprised at the size of the fridge (small) and the fact that there is no dishwasher, but we managed just fine. I would definitely recommend this place due to its location, the helpful owner, and that it's a comfy place to come "home" to after a long day exploring this beautiful city!

We rented this apartment in Venice and we were very happy we did. We were met at the train station and walked to the apartment. We never would have found it on our own since we have never been to Venice before. This was so helpful since we had been travelling for almost 24 hours. They even helped up with our luggage! The apartment was central to restaurants, the public ferry and just a short walk to Piazza San Marco. Almost the most important thing was that the bed was very, very comfortable. It was a nice washroom, lovely kitchen and living room. It was very homey. The WiFi didn't work while we were there but Carla gave us the password for the city WiFi so we had no trouble at all staying connected. We loved it here. Carla was wonderful and we would recommend this apartment to any group of 4 or under. Thanks Carla!!

I recommend this appartment in Venice. The description of this appartment on this site is accurate. The landlady has provided a binder that gives useful information about the surrounding of the appartment i.e. supermarket where to buy food, good restaurants, etc... Also, the young lady who greeted us took time to explain the appartment facilities. The location is just great: within walking distance of the train station and of the famous Piazza San Marco. Appartment very clean, comfortable with many facilities and secure with air conditioning.

We stayed two nights at the end of September. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and in a great area, central to everything. Easy walking distance from train station (luggage with wheels), to the vaporetto and Rialto bridge. The church of the Frari is a masterpiece and is just around the corner. Grocery store is just around the corner (where the venetians shop), cafes, and places to eat make the apartment extremely convenient if you plan to cook your own meals or if you plan to eat out. The kitchen is complete with all utensils and pots, with a good sized fridge. The master bed is very comfortable, and the bathroom has a great shower and is very clean. We had some family stay with us for one night and they really enjoyed their stay. I would truly reccomend the apartment for a truly venetian experience, away from tourists. The owner, Carla, was friendly, helpful and made us feel at home. Next time, I will definitively stay here again, and will reccomend it to all my family and friends.

We stayed at Casa Stella in Sept 2010 and found it to be a terrific place. It is located on a square in a neighborhood with everything you need just around the corner - groceries, shops, restaurant - the real Venice. It is a short walk from the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge. The apartment is well stocked and has everything you need to enjoy your stay including books and information you will find valuable on Venice. One more important feature - the owners. They took us to the apartment, gave us information on everything we needed to know and even helped us out when we got lost. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Since you have to take your luggage into the San Paolo area yourself, the lighter the better.

The location was central to the sight seeing in Venice. We could walk or take the water bus to any location in the city and the Lido. The apartment was comfortable and charming. We enjoyed watching people walk by the open area to the front of the apartment. We were met at the PONTE DELLA COSTITUZIONE bridge at the agreed upon time and escorted to the apartment. Carla, Eva, and Tanya did all they promised and provided helpful information to get from the airport to Venice.

This is a lovely property in a great area of Venice. It was comfortable, clean and very spacious, just perfect as a home base for exploring Venice. It is well situated across the Grand Canal and a little away from the flurry of tourists around Piazza S Marco, but still within easy walking distance of everything. Groceries are just around the corner. The apartment was well stocked with basics that we needed and the owner of the property made sure we were welcomed appropriately and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property to friends and relatives.
