After being on the road for almost 2 weeks, it was nice to walk into such a quiet, clean, cozy place with room to spread out and relax, and cook and do laundry. A great location for exploring The Cabot Trail. Greg and Jackie are great hosts, and we spent one of the best days of our trip with them on their boat, as well as learning so much from Greg, and getting to BBQ some of the halibut Greg caught and shared with us to cook for our dinner back at the cottage. We got to a lot in the water that day, it was unbelievable! Tons of sunfish, a couple groups of pilot whales, seals, and a leatherback turtle, which was spectacular up close and personal! It was a day that we will always remember. Our stay in Neils Harbour was out of the ordinary! I would highly recommend this rental to anyone wanting to explore Cape Breton Island, and all the beauty that it has to offer. I cannot say enough about just how much the 2 of us enjoyed our time there, other than it could have been longer, and there's enough room in the cottage that we could have easily shared it with more friends or family.

Sanctuary on busy holiday!

We had a wonderful stay in this spotlessly clean, very well appointed home. The location is close to many of the facilities of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, an easy walk to a beautiful beach, situated on a hill top in a small costal community. There was more space than a couple needed and we easily could have had more people stay with us. We had family over for a supper that we put together in the great kitchen and ate on the private patio. I have to be honest and say that a highlight, not just of our stay, but of our vacation was the fishing trip that Greg took us on. We started by being witness to a school of Mackerel in the harbour, breaking the surface and putting on a show. A gentle role to the sea, sunshine, and a light breeze helped make it a refreshing experience and Greg gave us a great tour and answered our question about all things fishing! Oh yes, we did catch lots of fish and Greg prepared them right there on the boat for us! As I look at the photos I took the smiles say it all. Thank you so much, Jackie and Greg, we hope to see you again.

No worries, just enjoy. My wife and two adult children spent 4 wonderful days. Much better than the more touristy spots--worth the longer drive. The pretty Neil River/Harbor beach was perfect for sunning, swimming and kayaking. On the edge of the national park with great short and longer hikes. Of course, going out with Greg and catching mackerel was the highlight and we enjoyed grilling them that evening....complements of their borrowed BBQ sauce! Beds were great, house spacious. Not on the water, but it is in view and a 2 minute walk down to the harbor, great seafood with ice cream at the lighthouse... (Tip: We exercised restraint, but if you want the family to be out of e-touch, ask Jackie to remove the WiFi code on the fridge.)

This place is not what we expected, it was sooooo much more, where do I start, there were so many great things, when we talked to Jackie to book the cottage she told me all you need is your toothbrush, food and clothing, everything is provided, the beds are so comfortable, the house is big, the kitchen is so well stocked, the house was so clean and comfortable we hated to leave, you would never run out of linens and if you did there is a washer and dryer to use, even for your own clothing, there is a private patio on the back where there is a bbq and table and chairs, it is so quiet, but the best thing we did was go out on the fishing boat with Greg, what a tour guide, if you think the Cabot Trail is beautiful, try seeing it from the water, it is a once in a lifetime experience, we even did some fishing, I would stay here again and again, Thanks again Jackie and Greg for such a wonderful stay, we had so much fun, you both were the perfect hosts. Take Care and we will be seeing you again..

Owner response: Tracy, It was great to meet you and your family. Maybe if you visit again you will be able to enjoy more. You might even get to eat some of the fish you caught
Awesome house with a very nice view. The highlight was the boat trip. We must have caught 70 mackeral and Greg filleted them right on the boat and did such a great job, all we had to do was cook them up. Awesome experience and a great place to stay. We will definitely be back for anotheer boat experience. Thanks again Jackie and Greg. Ben
