- Minimum stay:Contact owner

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This custom-built, family-owned house has been meticulously maintained since the 1970's for use by both the owners and vacation renters. Most of the windows and the spacious deck look out upon peaceful Penobscot Bay. The house is on a dead-end street with very little traffic, surrounded by trees, flowers, nature and quiet. The coastline is rugged and rocky, the beautiful rocky shore for which Maine is famous. This is a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the tourist destinations of Coastal Route 1.
Yet, renters will find themselves only 10 minutes away from some of the best activities and sights Maine has to offer. The busy and quaint destinations of Rockland and Camden are only 10-30 minutes away. Owls Head Light, Birch Point State Park, The Farnsworth Museum, Camden Hills State Park, and many more classic Maine destinations are a short distance just down the road. Rockland boasts great restaurants, cafes, and shops. The Penobscot Bay is great for sea kayaking, sailing, boating, and swimming. There is a boat ramp less than 10 minutes away. Owls Head is a great destination for bicycling and beachcombing/shelling. Community tennis courts are only a 5 minute drive away. There is something for everyone!
The house has all the benefits of home, from the fully-equipped kitchen to offering pots for cooking your lobster feast - and cozy beds for all the youngsters. The living room is equipped with cable TV and wireless internet. On a cool fall evening, you will be treated to blazing foliage. In winter, you can cross country ski out the front door. No matter what time of year you visit or what you like to enjoy, you will feel right at home here!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1972
About the owner: Karen is one of five family members who manage a family trust for this unique property. The property, which includes 2 homes, has been in her family for longer than she can remember (1940's), and Karen feels a strong sense of stewardship. The family rents the house to be able to afford the annual taxes and maintenance costs. She hopes renters will show the kind of respect for the property and the landscape that her Grandparents taught her, and that she now bestows upon her own children.
Why the Owner Chose Owl's Head:
My family has been spending summers on Owls Head since the 1940's. This property is part of our family heritage.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I most enjoy hearing the waves from my bedroom and skipping rocks from the beach. I love building a fire on the rocks and cooking clams in salt water. I love walking by rocks to the Birch Point State Park beach and back, and riding my bicycle with my kids to the Owls Head General Store for lunch.
