A beautiful 4,800 square foot custom home on 42 acres adjacent to National Forest and bordered by BLM, our house is surrounded by magnificent Ponderosa pine trees, wildlife paths, spectacular views and wonderful mountain air. Built in 2005, this home is the perfect getaway for your next family vacation, wedding, family reunion, business retreat, etc.
There are two large bedrooms downstairs (one is the master suite) each with a queen size bed, with its own bathroom, private patio/deck, and gorgeous views. The master bath has a luxurious soaking tub and separate shower.
There are two more large bedrooms upstairs each with double bed and window seat/bed nook. One of the upstairs bedrooms has its own bathroom. The fourth bathroom is right across the hall from the other bedroom.
There is a large bunkroom upstairs with two twin beds, two loft beds and a window seat/bed nook. The bunk room is perfect for the kids with its own television, ping pong table and lots of games.
The fully equipped, modern kitchen with breakfast nook opens up to the large family room with stone fireplace and satellite HDTV. The dining room table accommodates large groups. There is a quiet den off of the family room for reading and relaxing. The front porch and back deck increase the living area and offer the perfect place to relax. Washer/dryer, dishwasher, double wall ovens, microwave, charcoal barbeque. The house is equipped with everything you would need if you lived there full time. We have an in floor heat system which is wonderful on bare feet and keeps the house toasty. There is a wood burning fireplace in the family room. With almost 5,000 square feet of living space, there is lots of room to spread out.

About the owner: My husband and I purchased our property in Durango, Colorado in 1998. We look forward to our eventual retirement in Durango. We built our home there in 2004-2005, and try to visit as often as we can with family. We have four wonderful children, two loyal dogs, and a precious granddaughter.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes: Durango is beautiful and very diverse. There are plenty of things to do regardless of the season you visit. Our house is 11.5 miles east of the town of Durango. The house sits on a south facing slope above a beautiful valley. We have plenty of sunshine in the house all year long!
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House: Although we have the peace and quiet of the country, we are close enough to town that grocery shopping, dinner out, or the movies are all easy. Durango has a variety of excellent restaurants and the Main Street shopping is great. There is also a mall with Pottery Barn, J.C. Penny, etc. There is a Wal-Mart. Mesa Verde National Park is an hour west of the house. Durango Mountain Resort (Purgatory Ski area) is 40 minutes north. The Animas River has great fishing and rafting and runs right through town. There is a terrific river trail that goes through town for walking, jogging or biking. Durango has a great Community Center with workout equipment and a really fun indoor pool and climbing wall. The day fee is very reasonable and kids 9 and over can be dropped off.
