Our ground floor unit is located in the Melia Cluster, and is among the newest and most private buidings in all of the Maui Kamaole complex. This unit also boasts a spaciaous lanai off the living room, as well as a private courtyard in the rear, off the bedroom. Since this unit was among the last constructed, the architect incorporated many improvements in the design of this cluster. Thus, the condo makes better use of the same amount of space found in the condos constructed in the earlier years.
Unlike some other one bedroom units in Maui Kamaole, you will not have to negotiate any steps to and from the parking lot.
Our unit has a beautiful garden view. Unlike some other units in the Maui Kamaole complex over looking South Kihei Road, we do not have the corresponding traffic noise (e.g., garbage trucks rolling down the road at 6AM). You are also close to the upper pool area, but not so close as to be burdened with any noise. Likewise, you do not have to contend with a noisy parking lot, as some units do.
We are just a short five minute walk to Maui Kamaole III Park and Beach. This beach is one of the best kept secrets on the island. The Locals love the park and beach. Each evening you will find them there to watch the sunset with their family and friends. When we're on the island, we make the short walk to the park to watch the sunset, adult beverages in hand.
We are also less than a ten minute walk to Keawakapu Beach, one of the nicest beaches on the island. When we are on the island, we visit Keawakapu almost every day.
Our family visits Maui several times each year to check on the unit and to ensure that the unit is well stocked and in top-working order. We are continually upgrading the unit, having recently added an HDTV, together with a DVR to record your favorite shows or sporting events that you may want to view after a day at the beach or playing golf. We have a full lineup of channels from the local cable provider. Since Hawaii is two or three hours behind the West Coast, many of those live shows will broadcast several hours earlier than normal on the mainland. We have also provided a Blu-ray DVD player if you want to watch your favorite movie.
The DVD is enabled to play Netflix and Pandora, if you bring your laptop and have an account with Netflix/Pandora. In addition to the new HDTV, we provide free, wireless internet access within the unit and free long distance telephone access to the mainland and Canada.
We recently added a new, plush, pillow-top king size bed in the master bedroom. You will enjoy a great night's sleep.

Walk across the street to Kamaole Beach III or walk down to the Mana Kai Hotel and watch the whales. Usually, the best season for whales is from December to March, with March being the peak month of whale season.

About the owner: We both visited Maui for the first time in the mid-60's. Linda had just graduated from UW and Joe was on a Naval Academy midshipman cruise. For each of us, we loved Hawaii at first sight. We met and married 44 years ago when Joe was in graduate school at MIT, while on active duty in the Navy. We have both just retired and plan to spend much more time at our favorite place on earth, Maui. The advantage to our guests is that we are continually upgrading the unit to add more amenities and make their visit more enjoyable.
Why the Owner Chose Maui Kamaole:
We first lived in Hawaii when Joe was on active duty, stationed on a Navy destroyer homeported at Pearl Harbor. We love Maui more than the other islands in the Hawaiian chain and have stayed at resorts all over the island. Linda has a sorority sister who lived on the island for many years and when they sold their home on Maui, they purchased a condo at Maui Kamaole. So, when we purchased our unit, we knew that we had picked the best location on Maui. If you rent our unit, we will send you a map with explicit driving directions on how to get to the unit. The airport is about 25 minutes away, traveling for the most part on a four-lane highway. We can also get you a discount on your car rental from Alamo. Maui Kamaole is located in the best part of Maui, in our opinion. The South Kihei/Wailea/Makena area is more easily accessible to the airport than Ka'anapali, has better weather, more and better beaches, multiple championship golf courses, better shopping and is less crowded.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Maui Kamaole has two swimming pools. Our unit is located less than an easy one minute walk to the better of the two. The pool has great seating and grills for those evening BBQ's with extended family and friends. Great shopping is nearby at the Shops of Wailea. Three large grocery stores are no more than a five to ten minute drive. We are just a short five minute walk to Maui Kamaole III Park and Beach. This beach is one of the best kept secrets on the island. Each evening we make the short walk across the street to the park to watch the sunset, hoping for the green flash, beverages in hand. Our favorite morning ritual is to walk across the street and then turn south along the beach toward the Mana Kai Resort. We then walk up a gradual hill in Wailea and loop back around to beach and swim on the Keawakapu Beach near the Mana Kai. We buy a cup of coffee in the Mana Kai and sit on a grassy plain overlooking the ocean to watch the whales when in season. Maui Kamaole is also located within a five minute drive from Mokapu and Ulua Beaches, home of the most exclusive hotels on Maui. If you're a runner this is good run, a little more than a three mile round trip.
