Why the Owner Chose Walla Walla

.Alec lived his entire life in and around Cambridge, England. He would have loved the friendly Walla Walla community, where people have an eye to the future and a reverence for the past. You have to have a vision and patience to plant a vineyard, and you have to have a healthy respect for tradition and craftsmanship to make good wine. Throw in three fine educational institutions and a vibrant downtown, and you have a community that is active and diverse and full of opportunities to meet new people and explore new interests. Alec didn't drive, so he would have appreciated the fact that he could walk to most places he needed to go. And he would have cheered the day this community voted by 76% to tax itself to keep its bus system so that people like him can go further afield if they need to. Alec would have felt at home here, and so do we. We hope you enjoy staying in AGK Cottage as much as he would have.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Alec would have appreciated the care and workmanship that went into the restoration of this 1929 home. He would have approved of the unostentatious, comfortable furnishings and efficient, high-end kitchen. A frugal man, he would have relished the gas fireplace on chilly fall evenings and the cool basement den on steamy summer afternoons. He would have enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the goings-on in the quiet, up-and-coming neighborhood of students, working families, and retirees

Owner's Map of Walla Walla

Alec George Kinnear was a hard-working, savvy man. In his later years, his only extravagance was his granddaughter, Amy. When he died, he left a small inheritance that his daughter, Joyce Kinnear Cox, and her husband, Ted, used for the down payment on this recently renovated cottage in Walla Walla, Washington.

This is my second stay in this tastefully decorated and comfortable residence and I am sure I will be back again. A quiet neighborhood that is easily within walking distance to great restaurants, wine tasting rooms and the general downtown area, it was a relaxing and stress free visit. From breakfast to cocktails under the gazebo, it is a calm and refreshing change from the faster paced world west of the mountains. You can tell that the owners take pride in their home and are generous to share it with strangers. I would recommend this retreat to anyone!

We just returned from a wonderful weekend in Walla Walla. The location is excellent, a short walk to the core of downtown. The property is well represented in the pictures. We stayed in the house for two nights, with six people and it was the perfect size. We stayed in the second night and made dinner and the house comes with all the utencils and pots, pan, etc. that you will need! Would for sure stay here again!

Owner response:Thanks for your support. I hope you will keep us in mind for your next visit to the WW Valley. And tell your friends about us!

My boyfriend and I visited this cottage last year with some of our friends for a much needed Walla Walla wine tasting getaway. Let me just say that we were more than pleased with our stay! We really can't recommend it enough, and are looking forward to the next time we're in town so we'll be able to stay here again!

Fabulous home that when you first drive up to looks like a quaint cottage. In walking in the finish work is amazing. Great kitchen for entertaining & cooking!!! Floor plan works for families or several couples. One of the high points is the location. For all that goes on in Walla Walla, ( art's & entertainment ) this home puts you within walking distance to downtown & Whitman Campus & of course summer baseball!!! Not one detail has been missed in the charming home!

Owner response:Thank you, Cheryl, for your kind words. We hope that when you next have out-of-town visitors you will once again refer them to our home. Ted

Charming Artistic Immaculate Cottage in Walla Walla, Washington

Guest: Sara (Bellevue, WA)
Date of Stay: 10/08/10 Review Submitted: 02/24/11

We stayed at the cottage in Walla Walla in the Fall 2010. It was a wonderful experience. The house is roomy and easily accommodates 6 people. The house is arranged so 3 couples can each have privacy. The cottage is extremely clean! and well maintained. Attention to detail is seen throughout the house and property. The interior is tastefully decorated with high end appliances, woodwork, stone, linens and original art. It is well located for a short walk to town. Town has great restaurants, wineries, galleries, a public market and more. There are numerous wineries within the town and outside of town. The landscape of the Walla Walla region is beautiful with the Blue Hills. We had a great time staying at the cottage and would highly recommend it to a couple, group of couples or a family.

Owner response:Thank you, Sara, for taking the time to post this review. We are elated that you enjoyed our house, and also that you like Walla Walla! T & J

Cozy, Cute, Comfy & Charming!

Guest: Candy (Santa Barbara, CA)
Date of Stay: 07/10/10 Review Submitted: 02/24/11

Stayed at this very comfortable cottage on a driving trip through the Northwest with my sister. We thought it looked very inviting from the website, and were delighted to find that it was even better! The furnishings were very comfortable & in good taste and well thought out as to what needs any guest might have. Loved that we could walk to town & really get a feel of what WW has to offer without having to get in the car & hope for the best. Great food... and wine... and shopping & sightseeing. It is very roomy & we ended up inviting some friends from the Seattle area to come up and enjoy it with us for a couple of days. It was obvious that the owners put a lot of thought and care into renovating this home to make it comfortable & "homey". I will certainly visit WW again as it was my first visit there, but won't be my last! And, when I do go again, I hope that this rental will still be available.

Owner response:Thanks for your kind words. We try to make our house as inviting as possible, and it looks like it worked well for you. These Traveler Reviews are important to us, so that potential visitors will know what to look forward to. We hope you will visit AGK Cottage again soon! Ted & Joyce

Home away from home!

Guest: Randi (Salem, OR)
Date of Stay: 08/20/10 Review Submitted: 08/23/10

A bunch of girlfriends and I met here (somewhat in the middle of where we all live) for a fantastic weekend away. The house is adorable and had everything we needed to cook meals in and relax on the patio. It was close enough to town that we could walk to wineries and restaurants and was in good proximity to highway access. We had a great time and will definitley be back, maybe with our husbands this time!

Owner response:Randi...and Friends, We are pleased that you enjoyed your time at our cottage. If there is anything we can do to make your next visit even more enjoyable, please let us know.

Wonderful cottage!

Guest: Martha (Portland,OR)
Date of Stay: 06/26/10 Review Submitted: 07/05/10

My sisters and I stayed at this cottage while in Walla Walla for a wedding. The cottage is very clean and tidy. The kitchen is wonderful and had everything that we needed to prepare what few meals that we ate there, as it is in walking distance to great restaurants. We walked for coffee, ran through Whitman campus to Pioneer Park, shopped locally and were able to fully appreciate all that Walla Walla has to offer on foot due to the close-in location of the cottage. The beds and linens are wonderful as well. We will look forward to staying at the cottage again! This cottage exceeded our expectations,
