We spent a week at Ryan's Roost and it was an unforgettable vacation spot. The cabin is beautiful with all the amenities we needed to have a fun, restful vacation. The bed was comfortable, the fireplase was a perfect addition to warm the evening chill and create a relaxing ambiance, and the deck was a great place for quiet reading and nature watching. The location is close enough to tourist attractions, yet far enough away from everything to give perfect privacy. We highly recommend Ryan's Roost!!Owner response: The porch is just a wonderful place to unwind, and get a chance to view wildlife, like wild turkeys, and of course hummingbirds. And the fireplace is just perfect for the cool fall weather. So glad you enjoyed yourselves, please come back soon. Barbara and Michael

Thank you so much for opening your lovely cabin to us. It was a beautiful home away from home, and we had a wonderful time. The cabin exceeded all my expectations; the kitchen was a joy to cook in, the beds were very comfortable, the cabin was very clean and smelled fresh, and the backyard/ fire pit was awesome. We traveled to Cades Cove, Cherokee, Gatlinburg, Newfound Gap, and through the Blue Ridge. We had campfires a couple of nights, played family board games, and had time to just sit around and enjoy the mountain from the porch. Our vacation was all we could have hoped for, and we look forward to staying at Ryan’s Roost again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Five of us stayed at Ryan's Roost for four fantastic nights. The home is clean, modern, comfortable (especially the beds). Bathrooms are really nice! The covered deck is perfect for sitting in the evenings and relaxing in the cool mountain air. The cabin is extremely convenient to the Blue Ridge Parkway; Cherokee, Lake Junaluska, Waynesville & Maggie Valley. Within 20 minutes there are great restaurants (Waynesville), shopping, sight seeing & the Harrah's casino. We will absolutely return to this property. Thanks for a fantastic time!Owner response: One thing that is very important to me when I travel is that there be comfortable beds so I can get a good night sleep-that is why I made sure to have comfortable beds in the cabin. And the porch is the best place to de- stress from everyday life. So glad you had a good time, hope you can return soon. Barbara and Michael Ryan

We really loved our stay at Ryan's Roost, I only wish we had planned on staying longer. We came up for the long weekend and tried to fit in as much activities as possible, went to the casino, took a day trip to Asheville and went hiking in the Smokies, being in a central location we were able to do it all. It was nice to have a comfortable and quiet place to come back to. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone looking for a nice place to get away to. Whether you are looking for a quiet getaway or a place to crash after a day full of activities this place has it all and they let you bring your dog along which was an added bonus for us. We hope to come back soon and for longer than just 3 nights. Thanks for sharing your place!Owner response: Our location is central to all the great activities the area has to offer. I'm so glad you enjoyed your long weekend, it is really the right place to go just to get away from it all. Come back soon. Barbara and Michael

We would definitely recommend Ryan's Roost. It is a beautiful cabin within minutes of Maggie Valley and Blue Ridge Parkway is one street down from the cabin. We brought our ATV and had so much fun riding the roads right from our cabin. It was very clean and well maintained.Owner response: Yes, it is a great area for riding your ATV. My husband rides all the time, and still hasn't seen everything there is to see. Glad you enjoyed your visit, and come back soon. Barbara and Michael

We would definitely recommend this place for vacation, relax, see nature. It was wonderful. Good location, lots of details... very well maintained; we even found a cane to take a walk in the woods if you need; magazines, books, cooking books, games, binoculars, food for hummingbirds etc....The weather was just perfect. We spent most of the time at the deck, on the rocking chairs, seeing and listening the silence. Veronica G.Owner response: One of my favorite things to do is sit on the porch, read a good book, and listen to the hummingbirds fly in to feed in the feeders. Absolute paradise! So glad you enjoyed yourselves, come back soon. Barbara and Michael

Ryan's Roost is the perfect destination for a girl's getaway! It is not always easy to find a place to stay away from home and feel totally safe. Even our vehicles were safe nestled in the garage. There is a home alarm system but we never felt a need to use it. The description in the listing was spot on! We found the cabin to be clean, modern, and inviting. How wonderful not to have to pack linens, then spend days washing and drying after returning home. We shopped in Maggie Valley, downtown Waynesville, and Gatlinburg. After a busy day of shopping we returned to the cabin and played bridge into the wee hours of the morning. Oh, I forgot to mention we treated ourselves to eating out for meals even though there is a fully stocked kitchen had we chosen to use it. We loved Hurley's and J Arthur's Restaurants! At Hurley's the wait staff were decked out in their Halloween costumes. Our waitress was a "dirty cop" and our neighboring table had a gorilla in a pink bikini!!! If laughter is good medicine, we may live a long, long time! Barbara and Michael have a book on the coffee table full of information about the cabin and other useful information that was helpful to us. We enjoyed reading the guest book and learning about past guest and how they spent their time while vacationing in the mountains. Thanks for allowing us to stay at "Ryan's Roost as our "home away from home"! ***Highly recommended***Owner response: I've been there with my girlfriend, my teen daughter and 2 of her friends, and always feel safe and comfortable. And shopping in Waynesville, Cherokee, and Gatlinburg is always fun. Hope you ladies can come back soon. Barbara and Michael

The cabin is very clean, modern, and quiet. The setting is serene, and the road to get there wasn't bad (we made it with no issues in a sports sedan). We were a little past the peak of fall color in the area (it was at peak in the lower elevations), but it was still beautiful. The furnishing and fixtures are all very modern and higher end. The fireplace was all we needed for heat, even though the nights were down in the low 30s. The location is great. It's close to multiple hiking locations as well as Waynesville. We used the cabin as a home base to explore Cataloochee, Max Peak, Big Creek, and Alum Cave, and it was so nice to have such a comfortable place to return to every night! Barbara was also a pleasure to deal with. She was extremely quick to respond to any inquiry, and very thorough. Everything (key location, road conditions, etc.) was exactly as she described. She also suggested places to eat and get groceries in the area. I would not hesitate to return to Ryan's Roost!Owner response: Cataloochee and Max Patch are 2 of our favorite places to visit, both for the scenery and the hiking. I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to the area, and hope you are able to return soon. Barbara and Michael

This is an exceptional cabin, high above the noise of cars and motorcycles. Peaceful and quitet, just 7 miles to Maggie Valley. Provides all the required amenities to make a pleasant stay. There are stairs from Ground level to Cabin, and no stairs within the cabin. So if stairs are a problems, be advised. We only climbed stairs once per day when returning from our adventures. Great Smokey Mountain Railway is a must. Spend a little extra and go first class, lunch, drinks and extra's are included. The surprise at this elevation we awoke to a white landscape the morning of October 20th. The ground was not covered and the road was clear, but the trees were draped in snow. We would certainly return to this lovely spot again.Owner response: It certainly is peaceful and quiet at the cabin, yet close to all amenities. We're so glad you enjoyed yourselves, come back soon! We enjoyed our recent stay and found the location of the "Roost" to be excellent. We were able to enjoy so many of the wonderful things to do in the area. Maggie Valley has great restaurants and entertainment venues. Waynesville is a short drive and provides all the necessities and has a wonderful Main Street with great shops. The Blue Ridge Parkway is almost right outside the door, Cherokee is a short drive, along with whitewater tubing and/or rafting. At the end of the day we came "home" to roost and felt as though we were all by ourselves in private place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I'm so glad you had such a good time. Yes, our cabin is in a great location for almost anything people like to do, such as hiking, rafting, going to waterfalls, shopping, etc. It is definitely one of those place one hate's to leave. Barbara and Michael

They loved the backyard and the deck. We all had a great weekend and are very anxious to return! You will not be disappointed!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This little home is perfect for a mountain stay. Maggie Valley is a great location, just minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee, and main roads. If you want to sit by the fire, on the porch or curl up with a book this is a great place to to it. Modern applicances and great TV reception. Don't count on cell phone use, or getting onto the internet while you are in the house, but easy access is nearby. I wish it were mine!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Glad you had a good time. The cabin is very centrally located to all the places mentioned. There is unlimited long distance on the phone, since cell phone reception in the mountains is often sketchy. Hope you can get back soon. Barbara and Michael Ryan

We are so glad we found your cabin on Homeaway. This was just what we were looking for. The location was perfect with easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Each day we headed in a different direction. There is so much to see, do and explore. We enjoyed our leisurely mornings having our coffee on the deck in the early mornings waiting to see the turkeys roosting in the tree tops fly down to the neighbors yard for their early feeding. I had the binnoculars in hand awaiting their arrival. Late afternoon after sightseeing throughout the region we would return to the cabin to enjoy happy hour out on the deck before heading back out to dinner. We just love nature and your cabin is so peaceful and relaxing. Your place so reminds us of our home in Vermont. It brought back many memories. I've already recommended your cabin to many co-workers and friends. We hope to return sometime soon. Thank you for sharing your mountain getaway with us. We got lucky and found this cabin available just one night before we decided to go. We found it very clean and welcoming. Thanks for the little welcome gift. I absolutely loved watching the chipmunks play all over the yard. While we live in the woods, back in our real home. It was nice to go there and get away. I would love to come back again next year. To bad you don't rent through the winter months. It would be a great place to spend the holidays. From one Barb and Michael to another. Thanks for letting us visit your home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I'm so glad you were able to get away to relax and enjoy yourselves. I hope you're able to return next year. The reason we don't rent in the winter is because the cabin, being at 4500 feet, often has snowstorms and icy roads, so 4 wheel drive (and sometimes chains) is necessary there in the winter.

We just returned home from Ryan's Roost. We rode our atv's and there were so many places to ride. It is beautiful there. We would ride and then come back in to the comfortable cabin and eat. We took one day and went to cataloochee to see the elk. My husband was so excited to see the huge bulls. One bull had a 9 and 7 rack. He was so beautiful. We would just sit on the porch and watch the wild life. It is a beautiful place and would return again. Just hope when we left we set the alarm right. Anyone would love this place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: My husband spent 8 weeks up there last summer, rode his atv almost daily, and says he still hasn't found every place to ride. It is definitely a very beautiful place to visit. Come back soon.

We spent 4 weeks at Ryan's Roost. We had a wonderful vacation. We saw a deer in the driveway and wild turkeys in the yard. We saw an elk about one mile from the cabin. The new log cabin was fantastic, well maintained, and just what we were looking for to get away from the Florida heat. We especially loved the covered porch for dining or just relaxing. We loved the Maggie Valley and Waynesville area. Great restaurants nearby. Great hiking...lots of waterfalls, and the horseback riding at Cataloochee Ranch was like riding in the clouds. We have already recommended the cabin to our friends. We hope to come back next year to do all of the things we did not have time for this year. Ed and SusanRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.
Owner response: I think the one thing that is universal among the people who have rented out cabin is that they didn't want to leave. And I have to agree, I never want to leave when I am there. I am so glad you enjoyed yourselves, I just love to hear that people love our cabin as much as we do. Barbara and Michael Ryan

Loved the cabin, and for me it was perfectly located. Maggie Valley on one side Cherokee on the other with Water Rock Knob just a few minutes away on the Blue Ridge Parkway, where on a clear summer night you can still see the Milky Way. The cabin was clean, easy to find and easy to get to. And for your convenience there is "Starvin' Marvins" right at road entrance in case you snacks or something cold and refreshing before you retire. Would love to stay there again and hopefully I will.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I didn't know what to expect when going to the cabin, since I have had some bad experiences renting other places, but when we arrived and walked into the living room we were absolutely thrilled with this clean, new, and beautiful cabin. It had everything we needed, and was a great place just to relax. We played board games, had campfires, and our family just reconnected with each other. My 10 year old son,who had been asking to go home on the part of the trip before we got here, never once asked to leave. In fact, it was very difficult to leave when it was time for us to go. We arrived here on my 45th birthday, and what a great birthday it was! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We just spent a wonderful 4 day weekend at Ryan's Roost, and loved every minute of it. First, when we walked in, it was spotlessly clean, and they even left a little goody bag welcoming us to their cabin. The covered deck had 2 of the most comfortable rocking chairs to sit in and just chill out. We did venture out to Harrah's casino, which took about 15-20 minutes to get to. And Waynesville, which has fun shopping is also close by. It did get pretty cold at night still, and the gas fireplace warmed the cabin right up. We really hated to leave-it is the place to go and leave all your cares behind.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: It just makes us so happy when we hear that somebody enjoys our home as much as we do. It really is the place we go to relax and refuel-my husband rides his atv all around and I sit and read while rocking on the porch. Plus, when we go out, it is so centrally located. We never want to leave either.
