Views, location, amenities and more! We have been to Maui many times and this condominium surpasses everywhere we've stayed. The condo is beautiful, the views are perfect and the location is a 10. You never need to leave the property to see the whales and never need to leave Kaanapali beach to swim with the turtles and eat amazing meals. Oh ... and the sunsets!!! We will hope to stay here every year. I think we all "teared up" when we had to leave! Working with Jeri was a pleasure and she was prompt and accomodating. Thank you for an incredible vacation.

Where to start with this place?? Well, first, the location is unbeatable. Settled right in the middle of Kaanapali beach, sandwiched between Blackrock (which has amazing snorkeling) and Whaler's Village, the Whaler is, hands-down, the most ideal place to be. And within the Whaler, Unit 352 boasts an enormous lanai that wraps far around the corner and looks out to a breath-taking ocean view, including the infamous Blackrock. A brief snapshot of my family's first encounter with the unit included my sister showing off as she ran the entire length of the lanai, and my parents looking up from the beach in disbelieve that the entire condo was just for us four. And it gets better. The master bedroom is spacious & airy, giving plently of closet room for the heavy traveler, while it's paired master bathroom also holds a washer and dryer. Additionally, the guest bedroom has 2 queen-sized beds plus considerable closet and drawer space and there is also a queen-sized bed that pulls out from the large sectional. While the pictures of the unit are beautiful I think you really have to be there to understand how amazing this place really is; I know the review before me mentioned this, but the large living area, the mirrors, and the proximty to the ocean make it feel like you are literally living on Kaanapali Beach. And while my parents were hesitant about staying on Kaanapali Beach due to potential late noise from the "younger" crowd, it was never an issue. Lastly, dealing with Jeri & her husband was such a pleasure; they were both so professional and kind (and really fast to respond, which was great), I really could not have come across a better experience. In a nutshell, the ideal location, corner-wrapping lanai, huge & accommodating rooms, and great owners made our experience unforgettable. My family keeps saying how much they want to go back and stay there again soon!

In a nutshell, we loved this place: Positives: Great location in the resort-y stretch of Kaanapali HUGE apartment Amazing views of the ocean and 2 islands, and the sun sets directly between them Huge ocean front L-shaped lanai 3rd floor so you can see the beach when you're sitting at the dining table on the lanai but fairly private too You can hear the surf in every room (but shutting the doors cuts down the noise a lot if you prefer it really quiet) Amazing sense of space and light inside the condo Underground parking (although it cost 12 bucks a day) Good maintenance service Washer/dryer in condo Negatives (none of these are things that would keep me from renting again): Done up in fairly mid-range rental style, not quality and luxury the way you would get if you're renting someone's real home (ie the kitchen appliances, pots and pans, utensils, etc are costco or kmart quality, kitchen is a bit tired) Overlooked on one side by the other Whaler tower (it is far enough away that we did not feel it was a privacy issue) 70s style shag carpeting everywhere except kitchen (this seems to be ubiquitous on Maui) Had to call maintenance a couple times in the beginning (door wouldn't lock, very slow dripping leak from ceiling in the kitchen) but they responded very promptly and fixed the problems immediately Had to call cable company to get the cable and internet working (came to fix the box within 24 hours) General summary: We LOVED this condo. I'm not sure the VRBO ad does it justice although it is exactly as pictured. It is huge and has great views -- you feel like you're practically in the ocean and the sound of the surf is amazing. I will admit we rolled our eyes a bit when we saw the carpet and the mirrored walls, but cheesy as it may sound, it is pretty awesome to have the ocean reflected back at you from every angle. You feel like you are totally surrounded by water. The corner condos at the Whaler had the biggest lanai's I saw anywhere on the beach. Jeri the owner was great to work with and because we were booking last minute in low season she cut us a deal. Even if you think this place is out of your price range don't be afraid to give it a shot. Beds were quite firm but with foam toppers available. If you are picky about kitchen stuff you might want to bring your own or buy a couple things at Walmart (all pots and pans are slightly scratched up nonstick). Overall we loved it and would happily come back.

Why the Owner Chose The Whaler:
After visiting Hawaii for over 30 years and searching all the islands for the perfect location we found it at the Whaler in condo #352. Being on the 3rd floor you are high enough that privacy and security are not issues but you are not so high that you feel uncomfortable and separated from the activity on the beach and the ocean. You literally feel as if you are on a cruise ship - that you can reach out and touch the water. It is idyllic. The perfect location.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
You don't need to rent a car if you don't want to. There is no need to get in a car and drive to a restaurant, luau, surfing lesson, parasail or catamaran ride. They are all right there on Ka'anapali Beach. The 1 1/2 mile long beach front walkway in front of #352 takes you to all the shopping, dining, recreational activities and adventure you can imagine. Every evening at sunset from the lanai you can watch the torch-lighting ceremony atop Black Rock as the catamarans return from their daily cruises. In the mornings you can snorkel at Black Rock and watch the sea turtles feed. During the winter the whales' songs echo off the rocks. You can do everything or you can do nothing but lie on the sand, swim in the crystal clear turquoise waters and drink in the unparalleled beauty of Ka'anapali Beach.
