Our luxury apartment is located on Rue de Lille on the third floor of an 18th century stone building served by an elevator. Perfectly situated on a quiet street of antique shops and galleries in Paris' stylish and elegant 7th Arrondissement, it is a few minutes walk from the Musee d'Orsay, home of the Impressionists, and just a block from the Pont Royal Bridge which crosses the Seine to the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries. The building is entered through a cobblestoned courtyard filled with potted roses and lush greenery. There is a resident gardien(building manager) who maintains the pristine condition of the common areas.
The one bedroom apartment has been decorated in restful beige tones. Persian carpets cover the pale parquet wood floors, and the walls are lined with restored mouldings in both the living room and bedroom. Original etchings and other artworks, antiques, and accessories can be found throughout. The apartment is very luminous as high ceilings and three large windows flood the apartment with light and also provide a view of the courtyard below. An antique Indonesian armoire houses a stereo/cd player and numerous CDs, books, and games.
The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and glass stovetop, a refrigerator, microwave and various small electric appliances. Stylish dishware, glassware and utensils are provided. The open bar area is a perfect spot for a steamy café au lait and flaky croissants or an intimate dinner.
The bedroom is furnished with a queen-sized bed with mattelassé linens, a teak chest of drawers and an antique altar coffer that serves as a bedside table. The television with English speaking channels is located in here also.
An extra guest can be accomodated in the cozy sleeping loft that has been built above a corner of the living area and is accessed by a removable ladder. It has been fitted with a queen-sized mattress and linens.
The tiled bathroom has a shower, new furnishings and all chrome fittings. Fluffy towels and robes are provided for guests. A blow dryer, iron and ironing board are provided and oscillating fans are provided in the warmer summer months.
The neighborhood is steps away from the heart of Paris' governmental center, including the Matignon Palace (home of the Prime Minister), the National Assembly, the Foreign Ministry (Quai d'Orsay), and the Ministry of Defense.
Quintessential French cafes can be found on almost every corner, of which the most famous are Les Deux Magots and le Cafe de Flore. Within walking distance there are also many outstanding but reasonably priced restaurants appealing to an international clientele.
All necessary conveniences are within a block or less of the apartment, including grocery stores, patisseries, pharmacies, laundry(dry cleaner), and banking services. All of Paris is rapidly accessible via three virtually equidistant Metro stations: Rue-du-Bac, St-Germain-des-Pres and Musee d'Orsay(RER to Versailles). Free telephone calls within Europe and back to mainland USA and Canada are an added amenity.
The apartment has been filled with numerous guide books, maps, restaurant suggestions, Metro maps and other useful information ,about the area. |
