Spoon Lake Camp - Close to Glacier National Park
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The true 'Cabin on the Lake' experience, with infinite options for families and groups of all sizes. The property has its own dock on Spoon Lake, with gently sloping access for swimming, sunbathing, canoeing, or kayaking (our lake is motorless to protect the loons, making it quiet and safe.) There is easy access to incredible mountain biking and hiking just steps from the front door. Glacier National Park, West Glacier town, and access to the North Fork of the Flathead River are within about 10 minutes. World class skiing and the resort town of Whitefish is only 20 minutes away.
Either rent the main 4 bedroom, 2 bath cabin on its own, or bring more people and add anything from one to four extra 1 bedroom/1 bathroom cabins on the same property. The guest cabins are never rented to a separate party from the main house, so your privacy is assured.
The main cabin has an inviting Great Room for gathering, with a gas stove, two large couches, and plenty of seating and tables, as well as a TV for movies. We have a large video and DVD library with plenty of kids shows, too. This room also has a very long wooden dining table with long benches to accommodate up to 20 people comfortably for meals and games after supper. The Great Room also opens to a large wraparound covered deck with plenty of seating available to watch the loons on the lake.
Each of the additional cabins sleeps two people and comes with two twin beds that can be converted to king size. Each cabin has its own 3/4 bathroom with shower. Two of the cabins also have microwaves and small fridges. In each cabin, you can look out at the peaceful lake when you wake up each morning.
The main cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and a Weber gas grill on the covered deck. All bedding, quilts, linens, and towels are provided.
Just imagine how much fun you can all have hanging out together at this truly remarkable mountain lake property. Civilization is only 8 miles away in Columbia Falls, with antique shops, a great coffee shop, a family barbeque spot, and the excellent Three Forks Grill for fine dining. High end shopping and dining are also 20 minutes away in Whitefish.
You can fly into Glacier International Airport and arrive at your mountain lake getaway in 20 minutes. Missoula International Airport is only 2 hours and 15 minutes away and Spokane WA is only 4 1/2 hours away.

We spent a week here in August. A fantastic spot for groups with various ages. Kids had great outside space for games and a calm lake to swim in, adults had a beautiful view, campfire stories and lots of fishing. We brought up a canoe, raft and rented paddle boards in Whitefish. Lots of lazy days enjoying quality time with our families. Also worth noting, my father has multiple sclerosis and doesn't get around well. The house worked well for him, as there is a bedroom on the same floor as main living area, with a walk in shower. And he could ride his scooter all the way down to the fire pit. A great location for day trips into Glaicer and Whitefish. We've rented houses all over NW Montana for the past six years, and this was our best spot yet! The only downside, my boys experienced Barney DVDs for the first time and are now Barney fans.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+.

We had a family reunion this summer at Spoon lake camp and really enjoyed ourselves. The lake is quiet and motor free, there are plenty of small fish for the kids to catch right off the dock, the swimming is perfect and the loons a treat in the wee hours. Overall the accommodations were just fine. Nothing fancy but just right for families with children. The home is well stocked especially in the area of the kitchen and games and movies, as well as towels and household items. The house was very clean and new. The location good for activities in West Glacier area but a real drive if you are heading to East Glacier areas. The owners could not have been more helpful. A few things could have been better: 1) The path down to the lake badly needs stairs especially for older folks as it is steep. 2) The mattresses in the bunk house had plastic covers over them, understandable for young kids but not the greatest for adults. 3) Making it clear on VRBO that that there are not separate cabins but ONE detached cabin or bunkhouse that contains multiple individual rooms so that folks don't think these are individual cabins. I would love to go back someday! Made for a great vacation!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Dear David Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review to help other travelers. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for taking such good care of our place. Your sister mentioned to me that she loved picking and eating wild huckleberries on our property with her nieces. I am so sorry you got a mattress without a mattress pad in Wolf Cabin. We put hypoallergenic covers on all the mattresses with mattress pads on top of the cover. That bed in Wolf Cabin was an oversight and we do apologize. I also added a photo of the four cabins with private baths so guests can see what they look like from the outside. We do hope you come back as we feel like we know you since we met your sister Susan and she lives here in Bozeman.

Several good trips into the Park for picnics and sightseeing. Went to Polbridge and enjoyed great baked goods at the mercantile and a great Elk burger at the Northern Lights Saloon. Time spent at the Cabin with our family was highlighted-be many games spent with grandchildren....Sooo many games!!! Spent hours reading on the porch and at the fire pit chairs. 2 or 3 nights of camp fires were wonderful! Many hours spent with the family at the dock, both the 2 1/2 and 5 year old jumping into the lake. Overall a great grandparent experience!! Tom and Mary PS The resident Loons are great. We never tired of their many different voices as explained to us in the booklet "Loons-Diving Birds of the North" Also enjoyed a hike from the cabin to the other lake below Spoon Lake.Did you find this review helpful? Our family loved the Spoon Lake Camp. Truly a magical place! Our children enjoyed swimming, roasting marshmallows, and playing with all the wonderful toys. They especially loved the dinos. The books and games were throughly enjoyed as well. Our dog Salsa fetched a stick from the lake close to 100 times. We admired the loon family at the lake as well as the mama duck with her 7 youngsters. We watched nuthatches play outside the kitchen window and saw a marmot and several mountain goats on our hike to Hidden Lake Overlook at Glacier. What a beautiful Hike!! The weather was gorgeous and many trips to glacier were made. Thank you for the lovely place to spend a vacation.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

To the sweet Moog family Thank you for sharing your home with our family. What a perfect place for us to gather and enjoy all the aspects of family gathering together. The days were sunny, warm and happy for all the activities we ended up being enrolled in. A memorable trip and perhaps the last where Dad is able to branch this far to join us in his favorite place on earth-Montana! So love what you have today. We certainly do. Thanks Again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

After 2 days in the back country with our 6 children (ages 6-14) The Doss and Schavees' from Minneapolis very much enjoyed Moog Camp. We did a lot of swimming, cooking, resting and enjoying some of Glacier National Park. We went to the Belton Chalet for dinner one night and ate in the rest of the nights. We absolutely loved your property. The lake was wonderful, the location excellent and our accommodations were perfect for our two families. Our children and ourselves will always remember Spoon Lake and the Moog Cabin. We hope to come back soon. Take Care and thank you so much for opening your cabin for us. The Doss' and Schavees' (Buck, Sue, David, Sarah, Christian, Emily,Peter Bobby, Will and Tootie,) Thanks againDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Why the Owner Chose Spoon Lake:
We think this is the most wonderful spot on the planet. First of all, we bought it because we fell in love with Spoon Lake the moment we first saw it. It is so quiet and peaceful and we can really relax here. It is also a great place to entertain all of our family and friends. We love swimming in Spoon Lake because the water is warm in July and August and into September and it is so fresh you could drink it. It is a place where we connect with each other as a family, and with our friends for summer and winter fun.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love exploring Glacier National Park and all its hiking trails, beautiful scenery, and wildlife that you can even see from the road. We love the hiking trails right around our cabin. We fish and swim all the time from the dock and we play soccer and football in the open field by the main cabin. The North Fork of the Flathead River is a wonderful river for a family float trip and for fly fishing. Polebridge, Montana is a unique place to go for amazing pastries and incredible views. There is also a fun Fourth of July parade up there. We love Whitefish for skiing and shopping and great restaurants. One of our favorite restaurants in Whitefish is Wasabi (a sushi place). We also like to check out the local antique shops in Columbia Falls. There is a yummy BBQ restaurant called The Back Room. Also the Smiths in Columbia Falls has everything we need from fishing gear and worms, to health food and a great selection of floaties. They even have blow up rafts in the summer usually. Also we go to Costco in Kalispell to get supplies when we have every bed full in the summer.
