We had a wonderful week-end! The home is very clean and well thought out. Most everything I needed was within my grasps and pretty much where I figured I would find it. Like, I brought the wrong coffee filters but after a little look there they were. The fireplace is very nice, kicks out alot of warmth! It was -3 when we were there. The beds were comfy and fairly new. The view over the lake was relaxing and serene, best of all was the breathtaking sunrise. I would, without hesitation recomend this property to a friend and we will be back!

Birding in Tawas
Birding in Tawas
My friends and I rented this house in January 2012 for a weekend. I have only one complaint--it had snowed the day of our arrival and the driveway was not cleared, so it was difficult to find. Other than that this house was everything we could have hoped for. The views of Lake Huron are unmatched, the accommodations are spacious and clean, and it is stocked with everything you need--it even has WIFI!. Four women stayed here, but we could easily have had two or three more people just as comfortably. We used the gas fireplace, and were warm and cozy even though the lows were in the single digits while we were there. We didn't use the deck--which is HUGE--except to watch and listen to the ice-filled waves. We were in town to do some birding at Tawas Point State Park, but one of our best experiences was from right inside the big picture windows, watching a bald eagle fly by--three times! This part of the state is under-appreciated for its outdoor activities. It's close to many parks, the Au Sable River (which is great for canoeing and tubing), and is a haven for birds migrating in the spring. (In the Tawas area in May 2011 I saw 62 bird species in 2 1/2 days.) Very easy to get to, it's right off of US 23, but even so there was very little traffic noise. We definitely will be returning in the future and would recommend it. If you're looking for a meal out, there's a Mexican place on 23 north of East Tawas called Los Quatros Amigos that is very good. Also, try Wiltse's up in Oscoda--and have some draft, home-brewed Root Beer!

We enjoyed the home in late August, perfect weather for most of the trip but we did see the lake in several of its fine moods. Sandy bottom was perfect for swimming, and the deck was great for relaxing and enjoying the sun and the sounds of the lake as we read books and enjoyed a bonfire in the evening. The house was great with plenty of space and we felt at home after minutes. We drove to a sandy beach as there are several within a short drive, but for the most part stayed on the deck. Minutes from East Tawas where you get a little of everything you need right down town, It was an enjoyable time for our family.

We have stayed at this house two times-once when I pregnant with our first baby and again after our 2nd baby was born. We couldn't get a hotel room for what we paid to rent a whole house. This house is fantastic. It looks small in the pictures-it isn't. it has 3 bedrooms with tons of beds, a big kitchen, and nice big family room overlooking the lake. Plus a screened-in "Michigan Room" with a table and chairs. It also has a basement where you could park some teenagers overnite. The grassy yard is huge and there is a lot of room between you and the deck overhanging the lake-great if you have a toddler on the run. Everything is included, sheets, linens, pots, pans..everything you could want. The house is a block off US-23 on a quiet, neighborhood street. It was too far for us to walk to the center of East Tawas, but it was a very quick drive. We even rented some kayaks and left them on the dock overnight without any fear that someone would bother them.
