  I rented from Andy for the month of April. This is a great house if you want someone for a longer stay that feels like home and not a hotel/resort. If you are looking for the "resort" vacation feel, this isn't the place for you. The house is well equiped walking distanct to the old downtown and right off Horsegulch trail. The home is quite comfortable, as the pictures indicate the living room and kitchen are well updated. The bedrooms and bathroom are fine, but not remodeled. Everything was as described and Andy is very easy to work with. The fenced yard is great for dogs, and the yard is quite big for the area. The area is quiet. If you have dogs, be careful of Earl (dog next door) he is very fency agressive, but the neighbors kept him away most of the time. Very good experience overall.

  Took my entire family for a week here in March 2013. The house was perfect for us including our very well behaved dog. The owner was very cool and everything went off without a hitch. If you like blues or jam music he has like 10,000 CDs all meticulously labeled, as well as several adventure documentaries and old school classic movies. The house is a short 20 minute drive to the ski resort, but you can walk to all the downtown Durango restaurants etc. Just a couple tips if you go: first, Durango has an amazing public rec center- its five bucks to get in and has a ton of gym equipment, rock climbing walls, a water park, foozball and pool, a high dive, water slides, free weights, and an indoor track. Again, all of this is five bucks a day. The other tip is if you like sushi, there is a place called east by southwest that is about twelve blocks from this house, and it is absolutely amazing. They have the best kids menu i have ever seen- not uust chicken nuggets but basically a full menu of japanese fusion for the kids (and adults) to try. You will probably need reservations on busy nights. (opentable.com) or I think they deliver too. Anyway,back to the house- we give it an unconditional five stars, the first property I have awarded this level to. great property, great owner, great deal.

  This was by far the best vacation home we have ever rented. It was like staying at good friend's house. We felt at home the second we walked through the door. Everything you need is in the house and then some. We were visiting for both work and vacation and enjoyed lounging in the house watching the satellite TV by night and working or skiing during the day. And our dogs absolutely loved the fenced back yard (as did we ... since we didn't have to go out to walk them on a leash at 6 a.m. when it was below zero). Plus I felt our dogs were truly welcome here. I have read other rental ads, and the owners say dogs are welcome but list rules or restrictions that suggest otherwise. Plus it is conveniently located to restaurants and my favorite coffee shop in Durango. I can’t rave enough about this rental. And Andy is a pleasure to do business with. When we return to Durango, we truly hope Andy’s home is available again. Thanks, Andy!

  Cute little house close to downtown. Has nice large fenced yard which was great for our dog. We enjoyed the outdoor deck with BBQ and the large updated kitchen. Had a great time in Durango!

  I felt right at home from the time I opened the door and entered this sweet little home. It's comfortable and had plenty of room for me and my son and his family. The kitchen is very modern and well equipped. The yard was nicely maintained, fenced and perfect for my three year old granddaughter. Andy, the owner, answered all my questions and made sure that there was a cot for my granddaughter. He provides a binder with information about the property and he's always available if needed. I'm looking forward to my next stay! This place is a charmer that is conveniently located to the places I want to be. Thanks, Andy, for a great time.

  This cute little house has a really spacious yard and is right by the trails - my dog was in heaven the whole time! You can walk to downtown, although it's a bit far - maybe a 20 minute walk. The only downside of the location is that its across the street from some run down storage units - which is a shame because the houses around it are well kept. The kitchen is new and well stocked, and the living area is very nice as well. My only complaint - the bedrooms and bathroom are outdated and need some sprucing up! The beds were kind of uncomfortable, and one of the them was only a double - the bathroom is clean, but a little 1970s with wood paneling. All in all, I would recommend this place, as long as your not looking for a luxurious bed/bath situation. The yard and location make it worth it and the owners are easy and great to deal with!

  Comfortable and has all ammenities you need. Tenzing (the dog) had nice reviews of the large yard as well. Location is great - walking distance to downtown, river park and one of the local hike/MTB trail systems.

  We are actually staying at this property right now so I thought it would be best to write a review while everything is within arm's reach. This is our third night here. We're a family of five, my wife and I and three kids, ages five, three, and one and this place has worked out very well for us. The home is located close (less than 10 blocks) to the historic part of downtown, but not on a main thoroughfare. It is exceptionally quiet. Surrounding neighbors are very friendly, just like about 99% of the rest of the people in Durango. One of the trail systems (I think it's Horse Gulch trail system) is close enough that I could throw a rock and hit it. It took us a whopping three minutes in the car to get to the train station, lights and all. There's a great pizza place a couple minutes away (Home Slice). The owner is probably the most laid-back, easy-going owner we've ever encountered through a VRBO property. By laid-back I don't mean lazy. The house is kept up, has far more basic accessories than we have encountered in other VRBO rentals and both my wife and I have appreciated the owner's attention to detail because it has made our stay a whole lot more enjoyable. You can tell that the owner has done a lot of traveling himself and knows how to make a place ready for someone who is coming in with nothing but a suitcase. This place has a large yard and the fence goes all the way around the yard (even around the front), which was GREAT. To be able to open the door and send the kids outside took a whole lot of stress out of our stay. With kids, vacation can sometimes be as simple as getting 15 minutes of quiet, knowing the kids are okay outside. This place made it easy to get that. There is a large deck off the kitchen door, which is neat and orderly and very functional. The kids loved laying in the hammock. This place has great appliances and it even has a very quiet dishwasher, which is something we're not accustomed to, but are now considering getting one for ourselves at home. The only con I can come up with is that it is a dog-friendly place so if you have allergies to pets, that's something to consider, but this is true of any house, apt, or hotel that is pet-friendly. It's not a concern for our family, but figured I'd mention it for those who might need a no-pets-allowed property. Personally, I don't think there's a better value in Durango. If there is, I couldn't find it. I'd rent this place again in a heartbeat.

  My husband and I stayed at this vacation home for a four-night ski getaway from Albuquerque and loved every minute of it! Durango ski area is only ~30 mins away and after a long day of skiing, we had all of the comforts of home in this vacation rental. This home is close to all the downtown restaurants and shops and best of all, our four-legged children were able to join us for this getaway....they absolutely loved the large fenced in backyard! We will definitely recommend this place to our Albuquerque friends!

  This cabin has everything provided. Near downtown, shopping, restaurants, and activities. Fenced area for dogs is excellent. All in all a wonderful week in Durango!
