  This is our first time to us VRBO, so we were not sure what to expect. Well were we pleased to find out everything that was said was true beyond our expectations. From the first morning waking up to the beautiful palm trees to the last sunset. We had a wonderful time on the island. Everything that we thought we might need was provided. We enjoyed the park on the north side of the condo and Magic Sands beach, with a lifeguard, on the other. We had yellow and black fish, in the morning and at least 4 turtles were playing in the surf, just below our window. Ted could not have been better to work with. Thank you for sharing your home with us, hopefully we will be back soon. We have been to 3 of the 4 islands, so far we love the BIG ISLAND the best. So much to choose from, mountains, volcanios, rain and beach. Who could have asked for more. Nikie and Dennis Dallas, TX

  The suite was clean and bright and had an amazing view of the ocean. The pool was refreshing and a nice place to meet other people. We enjoyed seeing the fish right below the complex wall .Had a lot of fun boogie boarding at the Magic Sands Beach next to the condo. Appreciated the beach equipment the owner has left for people to use. We would stay there again.

  What a truly magical experience! To have the luxurious penthouse suite, double in size to most others in this building, was a treat. The effective use of mirrors makes this suite look even bigger. And so many windows, with three sliding glass doors. Loved the two air conditioners, so we were comfortable at all times. The condo is clean, and nicely appointed, and the kitchen has full amenities. If one was any closer to the waves, they'd be wet. Being able to enjoy swaying palm trees, and the crash of constant waves, was a true delight. Watching brightly coloured fish and turtles and dophins and whales from the suite was a novelty. Next door is a lovely public park, where locals came to practise their hula dancing. On the other side of the property is one of the best beaches on the Big Island, perfect for snorkeling or boogie boarding. The pool area was never too busy, and we enjoyed our times there. The condo is away from 'downtown', but close enough to everything. We would recommend having a car to experience the rest of this wonderful island, with its macadamia nut factories and coffee plantations to tour, many restaurants, many shops and retail stores, and the big volcano on the other side of the island. All in all, a truly delightful condo on a truly delightful Hawaian island. Yes, we would recommend this lovely condo in a heartbeat! Terrific value for all that you receive.

  You'd be hard pressed to find a better view from a condo ANYWHERE! The ocean is everywhere you look and the owners have done an excellent job of capitalizing on the view with expansive use of mirrors in the suite. The kitchen has been nicely updated and with all that glass, the fans, air con and blinds are great additions. Being able to see whales and dolphins from the unit made it even more special and the park next door to the unit meant we could enjoy the hula dancer's practice, in comfort, right from the unit. Sure, you could spend more, a lot more, and be capitive up in Waikoloa in something very similar but really, for the money, this unit is a real winner.

  My husband and I stayed at this property for two weeks. The condo unit is one of the larger ones in the building (some are only about half the size) which was great - not a bad size at all for 2 people. It is an end unit on the top floor (be prepared to do stairs as there is no elevator). The parking space is at bottom of stairs. The building location was good - you were close to town (about 3.5 miles), had very easy access to the highway, next door to a beach and about a 1.5 miles from a great snorkeling area (better than what we have found in Maui so far). The ocean views are out of this world - absolutely no complaints. The ocean surf was louder than we had anticipated but after a few days, you get used to it. There are many mirrors in the unit making it seem larger and brighter. The bed was comfortable. Not all of the windows have coverings which meant I was getting dressed in hallway (there is a park next door to the condo building which looks right into the unit). There is no oven in the unit which made meal time a bit of a challenge for us. This was our mistake as we did not realize this when we made the booking. You will not have to use the air conditioner - open the glass doors and you get a great breeze. The tub in the bathroom is raised up about 8 inches with a ledge to step on. When you come out you have to be careful so you don't fall. There are no towel racks in the room - only hooks on the door which you cannot reach from the tub. When we arrived at the condo, we had an issue with ants. The management company or someone had put several small black ant traps in the cupboards, in the drawers and a few other places around the condo. These did not help the siutation. We also had a couple of other issues upon arrival. I contacted the property management company twice about the issues and they never made any attempt to look at anything. I also contacted the owner and told him about what was happening and asked for his help dealing with management company and his first response to us was to find other accommodations and he would reimburse us (very disappointing). By this time we only had a few days left and we told him we were not leaving. It was high season in Hawaii - where would we find a place to stay that was not going to cost us $$$$? Even with everything we encountered, we enjoyed our time at Magic Sands. I have high expectations and this rental unit did not meet them.

I think you where unlucky with the ants as that is normally not a problem ,although the potential is is always there being in the tropics. Ants. They're everywhere but only make themselves known when food has been left out. An open jar of this, a piece of that , garbage not taken out regularly, and yahoo, you suddenly live in "Ant Land". Ant traps and spray do the trick. I have checked with guests since and we have do not have an ant problem.Signs are posted in all our condos about food stuffs,cleaning personnel remove all food stuffs left by previous guests. ALL the bedroom windows have coverings. The kitchen is close to the park ,it is impossible to see the bedroom from the park.The condo has a brand new convection -microwave oven. The bathtub is a standard jetted tub ,that because of the depth has your standard tiled raise to it.It has all your standard safety grab bars. Much like you would find in any 5 star.Your towels can easily be placed around the tub. The other issues where a burned out bulb in the bathroom ,eight other bulbs where working and we also have spares and bulbs aren't hard to replace. The toaster burned out, so I offerd to reimburse them for any toaster they wished to purchase.Inadvertently an appliance can fail a remote battery gave out also offered to reimburse. Every time I go to Kona I place new batteries in all the remotes. I will place new 20 year LED bulbs in all my lights in June. We will do everything in our power to make your stay as enjoyable as we can. Mahalo Ted Carson

  From the moment we opened the door we were overwhelmed by th breathtaking views. With glass walls on two sides you really feel like you are surrounded by the ocean. We found the unit very well appointed with all of the necessary kitchen items and even beach chairs and coolers. The bed was very comfortable but a king sized mattress would be a nice improvement. The grounds are well maintained with a nice pool ( that we didn't use) , lounge chairs, a BBQ and a clean laundry. The new shades that others have talked about added some needed privacy at night. One wall does face a public park that is busy with locals doing everything from practicing hula dancing, having yoga lessons or just fishing. You don't hear any of them over the crashing surf! The location is ideal being right next to a great beach with good snorkeling . The 3 mile drive to Kona does feel much longer due to some heavy traffic though. We were happy to discover a grocery store and coffee shop only 2 miles in the other direction so that we didn't have to sit in the line of cars heading north. Thee is also a nice restaurant in the complex. We found it a little expensive for dinner but great for lunch or sitting out for appetizers and a cocktail. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommended it. Our only disappointment was that this unit does not have a lanai. The doors open wide so that you feel that you are outside but we did miss sitting out on a deck.

  When we entered the condo we couldn't have been happier!. The view was great. We would stand and watch the water every morning and could see the tons of yellow fish in the water. We also got to see dolphins playing in the water. We fell asleep every night with the windows open the sound of the ocean was fantastic. We had everything we needed and only had to buy food. The beach was right next to the building and you could snorkle or go down the road a mile to another great snorkle spot. Everything was close but it was private. Would recomend.

  This condo was spacious and location and view next to the beach was awesome! It also has a nice pool facing the beach. The location is a coulpe of miles from Kona shopping center on Ali drive. The A/C and TV kept us comfortable and entertained at night. Our kids loved the beach. The beach was clean, beautiful and nice waves. We even saw turtles swimming next to us on the beach! I highly recommend this condo and the price is great. Checkin and checkout was smooth although you have to get the keys from another Condo location a mile away. The condo was well stocked. you just need to buy your own food. Supermarket is about 2 miles away from Condo. There is one reserved parking for the condo. One thing though, there is no elevators. This is a 3 story condo.

  Amazing views in a great location! The condo was very clean and modern and with glass surrounding the entire unit, it felt like we were right on top of the ocean! After an initial mix-up that resulted in our having to spend the first night in a hotel (the property mgmt company didn't have the key ready for our arranged late-night pick up), we got to the condo and loved it. Highly recommended, just make sure you confirm with the property mgmt company when you are arriving!

  We returned today from a one week stay in this INCREDIBLY beautiful condo. I have stayed in numerous condos on the water in Hawaii and in Mexico. I have never enjoyed one as much as this unit for several reasons: #1:The view is BREATHTAKING, just as portrayed in the photos. The pounding surf is the soundtrack of your stay here! #2: The location is right on the main street of Ali'i Drive but not in the midst of the downtown bustle. #3: Magic Sands beach itself is steps away from this condo!! Good snorkeling but even better snorkeling about a mile down Ali'i Dr. .... Ask a local! #4: The decor of this condo is tropical, tasteful, completely updated, and in pristine condition. Air conditioning works wonderfully and there are two units in the condo. These are not the old fashioned window units, but new silent and effective coolers that do the job to perfection. #5: A carefully thought out storage system is fabulous! As you enter the front door, there are three large glass closet doors on your right. Behind them is a perfectly designed closet system that holds all of your things, including a couple of large suitcases! I don't like all the suitcases and travel "stuff" sitting around on vacation, but often it can't be avoided. Here, a full built-in dresser and cubbies allowed us to organize everything we brought and just close the glass doors! The top of the dresser was great for big straw hats etc. All sorts of things are provided in the closet as well: iron & board, roll away, extra linens, snorkel gear, boogie board, beach chairs,--even a cooler! Although we did not use any of it, it would be wonderful to have on hand for a family. There is also a hairdryer on the wall in the bathroom. The owners have thought of EVERYTHING!! #6: Small but very well kept pool area that was never crowded while we were there. #7: The" feel" of this condo is hard to describe, but I will try. It gives you the sense that you are suspended over the ocean in a glass house. EVERYWHERE you look there is water!! It is a corner unit and the entire outside wall and corner of the condo are solid glass, floor to ceiling. Finally, this is a third floor walk-up ( no elevator) which concerned us initially since my husband has had surgery on both knees. However, the stairs are shallow and deep so they were actually a non-issue for him! This is as beautiful a condo as you will find on the island. Mahalo to the owners!
