Chatham house description
Thank you for your interest in our home #294634 in Cape Cod
Below we outline some information regarding the house and its neighborhood. If you have an other questions, please feel free to contact us via e-mail or phone.
Chatham Cape Cod, USA . The Riverbay area is know We are the original owner of the house “Vinterhaven,” we named the house Vinterhaven because our family comes from a long line of winemakers. You will notice several grapevines and multiple fruit trees growing on the property. The Property is located at 236 Chippingstone Rd in the Riverbay area of Chatham. The Riverbay neighborhood is surrounded by water and rests along the Monomoy River which feeds into Pleasant Bay there are several ponds nestled in the neighborhood as well. Riverbay resides in the northeast corner of Chatham considered the elbow of Cape Cod Riverbay is known for its beauty and tranquility, great for long peaceful walks and bicycle rides with minimal traffic, great for kids.
The house was originally built in the mid1980’s as a retirement home/ vacation home for our family. Although rented on few occasions the house has been owner occupied for the last ten years. The house is new to the rental market and we are slowly trying to make updates to meet the demands of today’s market. The house has a beautiful cathedral ceiling with large windows in the living room making the area feel open and airy. The living room contains two large couches, one with a queen sleeper a love seat and chair. The living room also contains a flat screen TV, with DVD player, there is cable and wireless internet.
The kitchen has a large breakfast bar and you will find the kitchen stocked with dishes, glasses, silverware and plenty of pots and pans. The dishwasher and electric range is new the fridge if a few years old and the oven is original although adequate. The dining area is next to the breakfast bar and comfortably seats six, there is an additional table in the main hall if you need more space. A private deck is located of the dining room with outdoor seating and a new barbeque grill.
The master bedroom is on the main floor quietly located away from the activities of the rest of the house. It is a nice size room with a queen size bed and enough space to put a crib in there as well. There is a dressing area with a separate vanity and sink. The master bedroom shares a large full bath with the main house. Upstairs are two bedroom with a large full bathroom (great for washing kids). One bedroom has two twin beds, we may add a third bed someday it also has a TV and the second bedroom has a double bed. A air conditioning unit is located on the main floor 24,000 BTU. In addition all the bedrooms all have large windows and fans are provided, the summer breeze is always blowing on the Cape and the house stays cool at night.
We are located a short distance to the Cape Cod Biking Rail Trail and several nice beaches. The nearest beach is ¾ of a mile away on Pleasant Bay. This is a quiet beach without lifeguard services, parking is limited due to no fees, and the water is calm so it is a great spot for little ones.
There are two other beaches we love to use great for the whole family and are located less then three miles away. Ridgevale and Harding’s beach are two of Chatham’ most sought out destinations, hence you are required to by beach ticket for both. Harding’s is the larger of the two with two separate parking areas and a long stretch of sand. Ridgevale beach is smaller with parking area, but features a nice little inlet with shallow water a main attraction for those with young children.
We have supplied sheets for all of the beds and bath towels you will need beach towels. At the end of your stay we ask that you just wash the towels and remove linens from bed. There is simply not enough time for the cleaning crew to clean and do laundry.
The house is available for rent throughout the summer season. The calendar on VRBO is kept up to date, but is subject to change for rental on a “first come” basis.
Please Note: We do not HOLD the desired rental week(s) without a deposit and signed rental agreement. If you wish to book the house for a week or more, please contact us by e-mail or phone. We will email you a rental agreement which will need to be signed and returned with the deposit to block out the week(s). We ask that you return the agreement as promptly as possible to avoid any disappointment. Similarly, we don’t show the week as “rented” until the rental agreement and deposit are returned. Contact us and we can give you the current status of any week.
We require a 50% deposit upon reservation, with the balance due 30 days before your rental begins. At the time of your final payment, we also require a 150.00 cleaning fee. If you are booking within 30 days of your anticipated stay, we require full payment upon reservation.
We do understand that events may happen to require cancellation. If a late cancellation is necessary and we are able to re-rent the week(s), we will refund your deposit in full. However as much as possible advance notice will help us both.
Again if you have any other questions please feel free to contact us. Thank You! We believe you will find your stay in the beautiful Town of Chatham a memorable one.

We stayed at this property for our family trip to Cape Cod. There was plenty of room for my husband and I and our two teenagers who each got to have their own room. The owner met us at the property for check-in and even drove ahead of us to show us how to find a local restaurant. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals and the living room was comfortable and had a lovely view of the front yard with all the trees. The location was fabulous in a lovely neighborhood where we could take long walks, but also convenient for the beach and shopping. The internet and cable were great and so was the air conditioning. We had a great week.

BEWARE, advise you go & look at this rental before considering. Not well maintained. Home needs to be decluttered & thorough clean inside & outside. Property consists of broken household items, stacks metal shelfing, 55 gal. drums thru out the yard, weeds & unkept landscape. Old boat w/junk left inside. Could not enjoy sitting outside & looking outside from inside was not relaxing felt like blight everywhere. Inside had clutter, ants & ant traps throughout, fruit flies because of cellar being used to make Owner's homemade wine. Doors that wouldn't close properly. Extremely uncomfortable beds. Sad, homes in area are very nice w/manicured landscapes. Tryed to make the best of it but was not comfortable only stayed 2 nights & went and stayed elsewhere on the Cape so our family vacation wouldn't be ruined. Not a easy conversation to have w/Owner as my husband tryed & his lady friend who handles his bookkeeping was uncooperative, unpleasant & not sympathetic to our disappointment of this rental..

Owner response: In my past experience I never found such a far fetch and exaggerated statement. As I stated before this property was rented to engineers,Lawyers,+doctors and never had been trashed and bad mouthed before. We did some modification to satisfy all clients in the present and in the future. To my defense the complaining customer forgot to mansion of black mailing me if I don't agree to the money what he was asking for he will wright a bad report.

We had a great vacation at our host’s lovely home. It’s in a quiet residential area. The house is well furnished and roomy with a well stocked kitchen. Our hosts live locally and were very helpful with questions about the house and the surrounding area. He even gave us a tour on check-in! We love Chatham as it is a lovely town with lots of things to do: family beaches near-by, good shopping (a stop and shop is only a few minutes away in Harwich), cycling on the Cape Cod bike path (check out bike rentals at Chatham Cycle on Depot road), and so much more. We wanted to go kayaking for just ½ day and found Goose Hummock CC Kayak in Orleans worked the best of us as they had rentals right on the town cove in neighboring Orleans. We especially loved going to the Chatham angler Cape Cod baseball league games!
