We spent three nights and 3 days in this lovely home. The decor is unique with a collection of sea glasses animating every room, shelves, windows, tables. An amusing collection of books about sailing, the Chesapeake Bay, the Eastern Shore, fishing, cooking, and sea glass - of course. The home is well laid out with a spacious living dining room with 3 sitting areas, a large, well equipped kitchen that comes with appliances of all sizes, cooking tools, a collection of spices, and various basic ingredients. Three lovely bedrooms. The master bedroom with a king and two twins + bathroom is in a separate area of the home with a small private patio. The remaining 2 queen bedrooms are off the living room and the two nice bathrooms are off the hallway leading to the living/dining room. Besides this pleasing lovely home with light blue and green furniture, the most stunning surprise is the view from the living room. One wall is all windows facing the Chester river and a door that leads to a peaceful deck and pier with the most stunning view of the river. Just charming, inspiring and breath taking!! The first night I could not sleep and I got up before sunrise just to be outside, listen to calm sound of the water and the birds. The moon at sunrise was the best way to start the day. Let's not forget the well equipped boat house on the deck. Life vests of all sizes, 4 kayaks, one canoe, fishing poles, mattresses, folding chairs, crabbing cages are there for you!! If you can get up from the comfortable chairs on the deck or leave the tables on the deck or in the garden ... you can have fun with the water. A bird house is few paddles away, the water is calm and relaxing ... jelly fish are plentiful, though! In the garage there is more for you .... bikes that can take you to town on a 10 miles windy, quiet road where you can stop and look at an old school from 1879, a small church from 1860, a renovated farm from the 18th century, nice woods and, of course the river. We were two families with a total of 4 adults and 4 teenagers. Everyone had a great time. The kids slept in the master bedroom until late in the morning, then got up and did what pleased them: kayaking, biking, crabbing. There was no danger or stress. The adults loved the deck. We all had two wonderful dinners in the spacious kitchen. We did yoga outdoor and indoor, watched TV, read books and relaxed. Chestertown is a gem, breakfast at the EverGrain, dinner at Brooks Tavern. Great time! We'll go back soonRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had an absolutely fabulous time staying in this home. They have made such an inviting and beautiful environment. Boat house was stocked with canoe and 4 kayaks and all sizes of life vests. Beautiful dock facilities. We enjoyed sitting out back each evening watching the osprey and blue heron as well as the sunsets. I would definitely stay here again. So many wonderful vacation books to read and look through and a closet full of games. Perfect for if you are active in the water or relaxing, napping, and reading all day. About 15 min. outside of Chestertown so easy to get to shops and some good restaurants. Kitchen has everything for those who love to cook.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We couldn't have asked for a better week on the shores of the Chester River. Our family gathered to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Washington College. The accomodations were excellent, the house is supplied with everything necessary for a relaxing getaway. Lovely quiet spot, loved having coffee each morning on the dock while watching the crab boats come in and out . We would definately return if it weren't so far away.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We had a fantastic rental experience at Cliff Point. Holly was very quick to answer all of our questions leading up to the trip (a 3 night, long weekend). The view is absolutely incredible, and we took full advantage of the dock and kayaks. The house was just the right size for us (4 adults and 2 kids) to spread out and to have extended family over for a get-together and meal. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need, and the house is homey but immaculate. You definitley feel like you are in your own world. There are neighbors close by, but it is a very quiet end-of-the-road location. Chestertown is 15 minutes away and a great town for wandering among shops, galleries and restaurants. Thank you, Holly, for an absolutely perfect visit. We don't intend to stay anywhere else on trips to Chestertown from now on!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This was my fifth visit and it gets better every time! The owners have created a comfortable and fun cottage that's not too fussy. All the comforts of home: comfy beds, wifi, full kitchen, satellite TV, A/C, and three fabulous full baths! But the best part is the view. Each year when I arrive, I breathe a huge sigh when I enter the great room. No matter where you are in the kitchen/dining/great room, you can see the beautiful Chester River. Outside, the large dock with lots of comfy seating make this a perfect spot for relaxing and recharging. Chestertown is nearby with a farmer's market and a few cute boutiques to check out. This is the perfect spot for a couples' getaway with friends, girls' weekend away, romantic weekend or a family trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This is our last full day here. :( The pictures on the website do not do justice to the view and home. Felt welcome and at home the minute we stepped in. (Thanks for the note and bottle of wine) This was our first stay at a rental home. Holly was very gracious in answering all my unfounded concerns before we arrived. Her home was clean and tastefully decorated. Everything she said was here and more. Plenty of seating inside and out. Many spices, oils, vinegars, teas and condiments in the refrigerator were here, including chicken necks for the crab pots. Quality appliances and gadgets for most any type of cooking. Walked or drove to the end of the road to a small beach to search for sea glass. Went to: Chestertown (15. min.) quaint shops, grocery store ; Rock Hall (20 min) Waterman's restaurant, very good, very few shops in town, but excellent ice cream ; St Michaels (1 hr 20 min) our favorite, many cute shops, 3 restaurants on the water and a few in town. Holly's home is a perfect place to create memories with family and friends. It is so peaceful and quiet. A perfect place to rest and recharge. We are considering returning next year. Thank you Holly!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Holly's place was the perfect retreat for me for my reunion weekend. All my friends were jealous they had not thought to check out VRBO to find this home. I had 12 guests for brunch on the water, relaxing, tanning, mimosas etc. The breeze from the water was fantastic. The GPS for my rental car was off by 1 house, but fantastic overall. I grew up in Kent County, this took me back to the 60's / 70's, and this is the only part of the Chester River that I love! House was decorated with care, beds were comfy, bottle of wine waiting, satellite TV and wifi (slow, but still wifi). Instructions crystal clear. I used none of the waterfront toys but just a super relaxing stay. Make your shower quick is my only recommendation, but the entire experience far outweighs the sulfur smell in the water. Holly was awesome as a communicator, and I will recommend this to my many friends. Thanks!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Cottage is very spacious and has everything you need. Owner was very responsive to the needs for our stay. Views are unbelievable. This is one of the best cottages we've stayed in and the price is worth every penny. Only negetive is the water odor but that is what you get when you have a place like this in a location like this. The odor in the water was not enough to deter us staying there again. The water front location and the ammenities make up for it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: New well being installed in Spring 2011 - good bye water odor :) or as they say "hope springs eternal!"

About the owner: I started visiting this general area over 25 years ago and was captured by the essence of a waterside community. I am a board certified holistic nurse, retreat leader, speaker and coach that embraces the concept of sea glass as a symbol of transformation ~ becoming stronger and more beautiful with winds, waves and sand. :)
Why the Owner Chose Chestertown:
There is a unique aspect of the Eastern Shore of Maryland - it draws your spirit to the landscape, the water, the wildlife and the expansive sky. I love knowing that this space is literally connected to all others by the water - the Chester River connects to the Chesapeake Bay and then to the Atlantic Ocean and then to... The Kent County area is rich with artists of all kinds, wonderful restaurants, local theatre and sweet little shops. Having Washington College nearby is a joy with their educational and inspiring venues. After 19 years I am still awed by the sunrises and sunsets from the house as well as the peace and serenity of the house.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house is within 1/4 mile of a public launch on the Chester River. Watching or playing on the water and observing the watermen, boaters and waterfowl from the house/dock.
