Just ten minutes south of the historic village of Mendocino and only 3 minutes south of the movie-famed Heritage House Inn, TIDEPOOL is a unique cliff-top oceanfront retreat – a spacious 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home perched 100 feet above scenic Whitesboro Cove. Its angular box design, beamed ceilings, and redwood interior and exterior are reminiscent of the Sea Ranch architectural style. A veritable sixty foot wraparound floor-to-ceiling wall of glass, spanning the living and sun rooms, immerses you in the panoramic sweep of the rugged Albion Headlands whitewater coastline, Whitesboro Cove, and the Pacific Ocean. Sit inside or outside on the wind-sheltered deck or in the hot tub at eye level with soaring osprey, pelicans, hawks, and gulls and enjoy the nonstop procession of ocean swells crashing into the rocks below. The pelicans and osprey hover all day long above the cove, crashdiving into the water for the local sushi. During their seasonal migrations, you'll experience the parade of spouts, fins and flukes of Pacific gray whales.
The Master bedroom loft (king bed & half bath) and its oversized North facing window offer a picture perfect view of the crashing waves without even having to lift your head from the pillow and a private cozy deck to enjoy the sun or your own private view of the stars. The 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms on the first floor (king bed & queen bed) are located down the hall from the galley kitchen. The downstairs Master bedroom suite features its own recently remodeled bathroom with an oversized tiled shower and bench combo with bar-holds for safety. A formal dining room comfortably seats six to eight and the Franklin fireplace compliments any meal. While dining, enjoy the pre-recorded keyboard selections on the Yamaha Electric Clavinova or the musicians amongst you can make your own music.
Stretch out in the paired Scandinavian leather recliners in the privacy of the all-cedar-and-glass Lindal sunroom and listen to your favorite music while meditating upon the ever-changing panoramic ocean, coastal, and bay vistas. No matter the weather outside, it’s always comfy inside because of the house’s central heating. With a cozy fire burning in the wood stove, enjoy the spectacular ocean sunsets and the grazing and winged wildlife while ensconced upon the living room’s comfy leather sofas. Both the living room and upstairs master bedroom feature a Bose audio and 50-inch HDTV entertainment center fed by a Direct TV Network HD/DVR receiver with complimentary HBO, Starz and Cinemax movie channels. Just new ...15Mbps WildBlue Satellite Broadband service and WiFi anywhere in the house; iPod docking cable to stereo.
Like an oceanfront oasis, your privacy is assured – located at the end of a cul-de-sac; TIDEPOOL is part of a private, GATED road just two minutes south of the Ledford House Restaurant and Albion River Restaurant, two great dining experiences on the coast. Nearby, the quaint town of Albion offers everything you need for your much-needed retreat, and the Albion Flats Cafe, just 3 minutes North, cooks up the best budget-priced breakfasts on the North Coast while offering a surrealistic view from below the last remaining wooden trestle bridge on CA Highway One.
If you miss the oceanfront splendor of the Heritage House, come to TIDEPOOL.
Although there is NO BEACH ACCESS from our clifftop property, you can enjoy stopping off at Van Damme Beach in Little River or Big River Beach in Mendocino during your ten minute drive into Mendocino.'

This was our second visit to Tidepool and what a wonderful stay it was. The ocean is only steps away from the house, and the view is simply fantastic. The home is very well appointed and every need is thought of. In the rare event that you do need something, the Albion grocery store is only minutes away and has everything imaginable. There are amazing restaurants nearby, WildFish and The Raven to name a few. Beaches are not too far away either, just minutes to Van Damme and a whole host of pretty beaches. The view of the sunset on a clear summer evening is a magical and elevating experience. The only miserable part to all this is waking up on the last day of you vacation and locking up the home to get back. We'll keep coming back as often as we can!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our stay at Tidepool was very relaxing, My husband & I and two kids (20 & 18) enjoyed 5 days at Tidepool over the Easter break. The photos you see are just what you get and so much more. The view & atmosphere at Tidepool is great. It's the perfect place to come when you want to get away from your everyday life. You have no choice but to relax. The jacuzzi was an added plus, we used it morning, evening & at sunset. The wood burning stove added to the coziness of the ocean. Every view at the house was awesome, we even had a rainbow over the Albion Bridge on Easter Sunday. The deer visited us just like the photos. Mendocino is only about 10 mi away, Ft. Bragg about 25 min. A trip to the Cabrillo Lighthouse is a must. Howard was wonderful to deal with and his home had all the amenities anyone would need. Thank you Howard for making your hidden treasure available for others to experience too.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

A couple of whales were right out front, just over the bench down the hill. Lots of spouts and their backs and flukes plainly visible. What a surprise to see them hanging out so close. This was our 3rd time here in this home and the first for whale viewing. We have been renting homes from Point Arena to above Fort Bragg for 30 years, and none of them had views to beat this one. The large windows and spectacular scenery beyond are the best!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I visited this lovely home for a three-day weekend in January. Two thumbs up! The home was ready when we arrived, and easy to get to (no long drive down a twisty road to grab a key, as we have done in the past). If you like a convenient Jacuzzi with an amazing view (who doesn't?), it is hard to image how this place can be beat. And, the sunroom you see in the photos provides a picturesque dining experience, with a light, easy to move table we placed in the center of the window. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a great meal. The Mendocino grocery store nearby had everything we needed for a great spread. We were allowed to park in the garage, and given a garage door opener. During our trip, we were pleasantly surprised to see the deer that we saw in the photos -- many of them. The upstairs bedroom has a stunning view, and a partial bathroom. Actually, the stunning views are available from many rooms through big windows. We loved the spacious shower in the downstairs bathroom. If you plan to come from the city at night, I would definitely stay in Albion. When you are tired at the end of the trip, it is nice to be right there and avoid the twisty turns in the dark. Dinner in Booneville breaks up the drive. Everything we wanted was available to us, we needed nothing. The owner was very nice and responsive when booking and returning our deposit back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for the kind words

A beautiful peaceful place! The rain and mist had it's own beauty. Loved watching the other residents - deer, quail, geese, pelicans, hawks, ravens, seals, vultures and the ever present seagull. Finally saw the bunny on our last evening. Watched whales spouting throughout our stay - more whales than we've ever seen before on this coastline. Read books, played board and video games and enjoyed our family time together. No matter the weather, the scenery before us was spectacular! The sunroom was great and enjoyed by the adults. Soundproof window/wall was appreciated. Well planned home. We hope to return again. Thank you for sharing your very comfortable home and beautiful scenery with us.Did you find this review helpful? Great place, magnificent views, panoramic views! What a delightful time we had with friends. This lovely home is so inviting in a tranquil setting full of nature’s display of birds, seals, deer herd, various weather, etc. There’s no need to leave Tide Pool. It’s a vacation on it’s own!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Hello future visitors, I hope you have as much fun as we did in this wonderful house. Not only is there beautiful scenery right off your front yard, but all the animals that seem to greet you when you step foot on the “Tidepool”. You will come eye-to-eye with deer, hawks, seals and so much more, waking up to the sea lions barking and deer trotting is truly amazing. This is a great place for bird watching especially in the morning, you will see Osprey diving into the ocean and helping themselves to a fish meal. Enjoy the views, this house offers, we sure did!!! P.S. look in the upstairs bathroom and you will see a “painted” surprise.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4

What a beautiful getaway! Our family had a short but reviving vacation. The ocean view was spectacular. The wild animals, both marine and land, were a treat to observe. The house is perfect in what it offers including the keyboard, that our daughter serenaded us with. Thanks so much from all of us.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
