Cozy mountain cottage in enchanting Sherwood Forest close to the woodsy trails and impressive waterfalls of Dupont State Forest, the mountain streams and spectacular views of Pisgah National Forest and the Blue ridge Parkway and the charming town of Brevard filled with whimsical shops, singular sculpture and a myriad of unique dining opportunities.
The Cottage, as the family has called it for almost 40 years, is a sunny haven amidst green woods within walking distance of Trout Lake where you can paddle your canoe or kayak (no motors allowed), swim or just sit at the shore and enjoy the sight of dragonflies flitting over gentle water, the sound of birds chittering in the tall trees that line the lake and breathe in fresh mountain air.
The Cottage has a delightful twin bedroom with family antiques and a half bath attached, a large light-filled master bedroom with king-sized bed and a family bathroom two steps away. The high-ceiling great room has a well-equipped kitchen and living and dining areas that overlook the woods where you might spot a family of deer. A large deck accessible from the great room and the master bedroom allows plenty of relaxing, reading and musing opportunities. Meals can be enjoyed at the round table on the deck while squirrels, chickadees and hummingbirds join the festivities.

It doesn't get more poetic than to stay amidst idyllic surroundings in the Sherwood Forest, off Robin Hood Road! A quaint and beautiful retreat destination for avid hikers, mountain bikers, bird watchers and book worms. The cottage is beautifully appointed with all the necessities and felt like a home away from home. Owners were extremely friendly and helpful and we wouldn't hesitate to suggest this location for your next weekend away! We hope to be back soon...Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our stay at the Cozy Cottage in Sherwood Forest was exceptional. The location is perfect for hiking, shopping, and many more activities. Our favorite part of the location was being so close to Dupont State Park and Pisgah National Forest where we enjoyed hiking to the waterfalls. We loved being just a short distance from Brevard because it is a wonderful town and has everything you need. When you walk into the Cottage it has a warm sense of "Welcome". The owners have a unique sense of making you feel comfortable and the decor is very tasteful with antiques and inviting colors. We were on vacation and still had the relaxed, secure feeling of being Home. We enjoyed the beautiful covered deck with the grill and the hummingbird feeder as our wonderful feathered friends flew by. The cottage was more than described and we are already looking forward to another stay. It was extremely private and offered beautiful walking trails. It felt like you were staying in someones's personal home. We ourselves own 3 vacation rental homes in other areas and only hope that our homes give that intimate feeling. About the owner: Three sisters own this beautiful property. It is a home not just a rental property. We have lived in the area since the 1960's and have family and friends here. Those who have experienced it realize what a special place it is. Two sisters live in the area and one lives in New York.

My family has lived in the area since the early 1960's. Known as the "Land of the Waterfalls", the natural beauty of this land with its enchanted forests, streams,rivers and mountains makes it one of the most wonderful places on the planet.
