Our Friday check-in allows you to miss the traffic and start your vacation before 'everyone else' does. Then you can spend Saturday sitting on a quiet beach rather than stuck in traffic or in a line at the grocery store. With our Friday to Friday rental you can jump-start your vacation and have the WHOLE weekend to enjoy.
Our home is located on beautiful Island Pines Dr in Waves, NC on the Outer Banks. It is a quiet cul-de-sac that is a perfect family location. 'Island Pines' is only steps from the dunes and ocean but is surrounded by pines and cedars which offer plenty of privacy when you are relaxing by the private pool and hot tub or on one of the many spacious decks..
Island Pines is large enough for your whole family. There are 5 master bedrooms so everyone can have their own space while still spending time together. The large kitchen and great room on the top floor are a great place for gathering your group together for meals, games or movies. In the fully stocked kitchen, the 2 dishwashers and separate ice maker will make entertaining easy. There's lots of room for multiple cooks and a huge island for serving.
There is also a 1st floor game room with a pool table and TV with DVD and VCR. The wet bar with full size refrigerator and microwave will help keep snacks and cold drinks available when you are having fun in or out of the sun.
Also on the 1st floor, there are 2 large master bedrooms with king beds and private bathrooms, as well as a bedroom with a pyramid bunk bed that has access to the full hall bath.
There are 4 bedrooms, a hall bath and a laundry area with washer and dryer on the 2nd floor. Two of the bedrooms are master bedrooms with king beds and private bathrooms. Each of these rooms has a sliding glass door that faces the ocean and offers access to the shaded deck overlooking the pool. Open the slider wide to let in ocean breezes and the sound of waves crashing against the sand!
There is also another large king bedroom and a kids bedroom with 2 pyramid bunks that share the full hall bath. Each of these rooms has access via a patio door to a shaded deck which is a perfect place for relaxing with a book or taking an afternoon nap.
Just up the stairs on the third floor you will find one more large king master bedroom with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. This bedroom also has a slider which opens to the top sun deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee and scan the ocean for glimpses of dolphins playing in the surf. Many of the bedrooms have a TV and DVD and/or VCR. A loft just above the great room is a quiet place for playing a board game, enjoying the view or checking email.
Island Pines has something to keep everyone happy, but of course you'll want to spend time outside in the sunshine. The soft sand and warm waters of the Outer Banks are just a 2 minute walk across the quiet cul-de-sac. Enjoy swimming, fishing or just walking along the beautiful seashore. The beach is huge, wide open and uncrowded. Cast your line right into the surf or walk down to the Rodanthe Pier for deeper water fishing without the time and expense of a chartered boat.
For the water sports enthusiast in your group, Waves is an ideal location. The area is world-renowned for windsurfing and kite surfing. You will see these adventurous athletes out on the water just about every day. Just a 5 minute walk down Island Pines Dr (located behind Dairy Queen) is a rental company where lessons and equipment are available for surfing, kayaking and windsurfing. From there you will have direct access to the quieter waters of the sound.
At the end of the day, enjoy a short walk down the quiet, tree-lined Island Pines Dr to 'Top Dog Cafe' for a burger or to Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone and a spectacular view of the sun setting over the sound.
You won't want to leave the Outer Banks, but our Friday check-out makes it a little easier. After a relaxing week of vacation, when its time to go home, you'll miss the traffic again. Check out Friday morning and get home with a whole weekend ahead of you to regroup before getting back to your usual routine of work or school.

- Privacy! We have a private heated pool and 6 person hot tub surrounded by trees, bushes, grasses and the natural landscape. The house sits up on a knoll and the lot is situated to provide maximum privacy. We do not have neighbors right on top of us or looking down from their deck to our pool area. There are 2 private, enclosed outdoors showers, a fish cleaning table with water and lights and a gas grill. There is a 2nd small kitchen with refrigerator and microwave in the game room which is just off the pool patio area. The walk to the beach is about 2 minutes from our house. The path runs along our neighbor's driveway (the oceanfront home whose rent is about $3000 more per week during the summer)

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Island Pines. The layout of the house is very attractive, practical, and well decorated, perfect for families with children, with a bright feel due to all the windows. The owners are wonderful to work with. Hurricane Irene wiped out our original week, so the owners kindly offered us another 2 weeks that were open at no charge! We would recommend this home to anyone looking for a house of this size in this area. You will not be disappointed!
Recommended for:Pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.
