Bear Creek Camp, with its creek, mountain and pasture views, provides a wonderful setting for you to enjoy your vacation in the North Georgia mountains. During the day you can picnic at our creek-side pavilion, fish for trout in the creek (just 15 feet from your door), and toss the football or kick the soccer ball in the flat two-acre field. At night, cozy up to a bon fire at the fire pit next to the pavilion and gaze at the stars (you can see the Milkyway!). And perhaps best all, you will not be charged an arm and a leg for all this fun (see special rates above).
This camp (about 1,100 square feet) on three flat acres has over 1,000 feet on clean rock bottomed/fast moving Skeenah Gap Creek, about 15' wide. No slow brown/murky water runs here. Many of our guests say their kids have had the best time exploring the creek and all the wonders it has to offer, including the trolls that occasionally gather beneath the bridges at the front and back of the property (;D). It is your private little slice of heaven for the duration of your stay.
House has three bedrooms - two bedrooms with king beds, one bedroom with two bunkbeds (meaning four twins)and one full bath with huge shower. All linens/towels provided.
Fully-equipped kitchen, complete with: plates, dishes, silverware, glassware (including wine, margarita, martini, cocktail glasses) tupperware, pots, pans, baking tins, muffin tins, cookie sheets, coffee maker (filters provided), blender, toaster oven, microwave, crock-pot, cutting boards, oven mits/gloves, paper towels, kitchen towels, knife set, dishwasher (soap included), picnic baskets, cooler, and lemonade/ice tea containers.
Big, wood burning, brick masonry fireplace and a new furnace will keep you warm on cold nights, and a new central AC system (w/easy control) will keep you cool during the warm days of summer. But if not too warm, you might want to leave the windows open to allow the soothing sounds of the creek lull you to sleep.
Main room has new 32" flat screen LCD/HD TV, with satellite/DVR, dvd player and sound system. 27" TV with DVD/VCR in the bunkroom; smaller TV with DVD player in one of the king bedroom. "Old-Time" record player with library of LPs at the ready for teaching kids how to place a needle and flip to the B-side. But alas, iPod connection and separate iPod player available.
Internet? But of course. Wireless, you can even surf the web from the creek-side pavilion. Disclaimer -- we do not guarantee service as we have no idea how to help you if your laptop fails to acquire the wireless signal. IT wizzards we are not.
The camp is centrally located between Suches, Blue Ridge and Blairsville in the Chattahoochee National Forest. You will be within five miles of swinging on the bridge over Toccoa River, swimming, canoeing, or tubing in the Toccoa, hiking the Appalachian Trail, Benton McKaye Trail, Duncan Ridge Trail, and/or exploring the Trout Hatchery. Easy ride to either Lake Notteley or Lake Blue Ridge, bring your boat (plenty of easy no-turn parking available). Coming north from Dahlonega on Highway 60 is a 30 mile ride through National Forest to get here. Alternative less "twisty" routes available from Blue Ridge and the Outlet mall on 400. We are 15 minutes from the Toccoa River Restaurant and the new/exciting Lilly Pad Coffee House with live music (bluegrass/folk/etc) on the weekends.
Easy access to the camp off paved road -- no driving up and down twisty, winding, dusty gravel/dirt roads. 300 yard flat driveway through pasture puts you at the camp with ample room for parking (easy in, easy out).
A three acre cut yard is parallel to the creek, cut with a finishing mower (see picture below), big enough for football, softball, wiffle ball and/or soccer games. Plenty of room to pitch a tent and sleep to the soothing sounds of Skeenah Gap Creek. Catching fireflies in the field at night provides some wonderful entertainment for the kids (friendly catch and release cages provided).
Big creek-side picnic pavilion (w/electric and lights) awaits you a mere 5 umbrella steps from the camp. Weber charcoal grill provided, complete with BBQ tools, clamp light and cylinder starter. One large picnic table and one smaller picnic table easily accommodates a crew of 10 plus. Fire pit next to pavilion and creek is perfect for bon fires and toasting marshmellows. Chairs and sitting stumps provided. Ghost stories not available at this time but encouraged.
Two love-seat swings with views of the creek, mountains and pastures invite you to relax and daydream. Most guests observe that their mountain trips often involve day trips here and there, but they don't leave here much because it is as pretty as any place they could go.
No smoking indoors, please. This is the perfect place to hike, fish, tube on your own creek next to the camp(small children) or on the Toccoa River(4 miles away), read, write, sit by the fire, or go for a walk along a quiet gravel road. You can walk out the front door and hike directly to the Benton-MacKeye Trail that cuts along the ridge/mountain you see in the pictures below; about a 20-minute hike from the camp.
Firewood - we do not supply firewood. You can purchase it down the road a bit for a very reasonable price. If you desire, we can make arrangements for a firewood delivery prior to your arrival, just ask us how!

Thanks Kate and Dave for allowing us to stay in your wonderful home. We had such a good time. We took the hike you recommended and Ms. Tica (our dog) just loved it! She is 8 years old and has had two knee surgeries in the last 2 years, but acted like a 2 year old running up the path and waiting for us to catch up to her. We have many great memories and hope we can make it back for another stay in the future.

We had such a nice two weeks at Bear Creek Camp! The owners couldn't have been more helpful or accomodating to our needs. We had no cell phone coverage (we're Verizon users) at the camp, but luckily had a phone card with us to make any long distance calls. The home was warm, cozy and clean with firewood ready to start a fire. Even the bird feeders had food so we saw lots of birds right from the start. The kitchen had every gadget we could possibly need and also spices, salt & pepper, coffee filters, dish and laundry soap. It had much more than any place we have stayed previously. The noisy creek ran the full length of the very level property and it was safe for our 3 Shelties to run off leash. They had as much fun as we did! The fall leaves were beautiful and the view was breathtaking. It was hard to leave after our visit but the Blue Ridge area remains one of our favorites!

Don't jump off the front porch; if you stumble you'll roll into the creek. Not that that's a bad thing. It's perfect for younger kids to wade and splash in, if maybe a little cold. This is country living with access to larger towns in any direction you decide to travel. Everything you need is already in the house. There wasn't one thing we thought to look for that wasn't provided. There were plenty of personal touches like flowers planted around the house and a teddy bear on every bed. There are a large number of activities around the area, something for everyone, from trail hiking to tourist shopping. You do have to be willing to drive around 30 minutes to get to some places, but the drive is worth the trip in itself. Don't be wary of this place; it is probably even better than you hope for.

My wife and I had an excellent experience here. The house was charming, cozy, and extremely well equipped, clean, and functional. It is a quiet, peaceful, and beautiful place. It was even better than we expected. We have rented many vrbo places and this one is one of the best. The owners were easy to communicate with and responsive and helpful. Everything was as represented, if not better, and we couldn't have been more pleased. We will come to the Bear Creek Campground again and we would without hesitation recommend it to friends and family.

We spent five nights at Bear Creek Camp. It was the perfect location for hiking trails and waterfall finding. The house was homey, clean, and very well-stocked. The stream was great fun for the kids and the dog. The owners were prompt and helpful. I think we turned the TV on for the kids only once during a sleepy rainy afternoon. We hope to stay again next year. Thank you for a wonderful family trip!

We had a wonderful week long stay at BCC. The owners were very easy to work with, the cabin and grounds were just as described, very clean and well stocked. My almost 6 year old son loved fishing and tubing in the creek, he caught several small trout and he loved sleeping in the top bunk and having his own TV. My 14 month old also enjoyed the creek and especially picking and eating blue berries and blackberries. Our dog loved chasing her ball in the creek. The fire flies in the evening were enchanting. We used to be frequent tent campers, but age and kids has made it seem too much like work. Bear Creek was a perfect compromise; all the fun outdoor camping activities, but with AC, hot showers, and a washer & dryer. We hope to become regulars.

What an absolutely wonderful place to stay. VERY clean. With a large family, this was the perfect place for the kids to roam and play when we were not off doing other things. A place of complete and total tranquility. The creek by the house, and I mean right by the house, was amazing. There is something for everyone fron 6 to 60. Everything you need is there. We had an AWESOME time. Oh, the neighbors are great. They made us feel as though we had lived there forever. Thanks Hapadaka for a wonderful vacation. This beach bunny will be back.

Bear Creek Camp is THE PERFECT place for a family get away. I have 3 children under 10 and there was something for everyone! Several day hikes close by, beautiful scenery, and the creek is the perfect size for kids to play in! The cabin decor is perfect- nice, clean, and pracical. The TV in every room is an added bonus! The owners are very pleasant and truly a joy to do business with. They definately go above and beyond anyone I have ever rented from. I can't say enough great things about it - we absolutely loved it.

We stayed 3 nights at Bear Creek Camp, this place is wonderful!(Could have stayed forever) We rent often in the Mtns. of North Ga. and this was by far our best choice yet. The house, the pavillion, the creek you couldn't ask for a more perfect setting. We will diffently return and take the grandkids to enjoy this peaceful place! And for Trout Fishing this is a good location, just a few miles to Rock and Coopers Creeks. Thanks so much for sharing your mountain paradise with us! The Kilgore's
