Taos condo description

Located on the beautiful tree-lined Burch Street just off famous Kit Carson Road this home provides the convenience of in-town living but quiet and seclusion as it sits toward the back of the property away from the street. This home offers one-level living so there are no stairs to contend with. This home is everything you would imagine in the Southwest including adobe construction, vigas (wood beam ceilings), and a kiva (bee hive) fireplace. At the same time it offers modern conveniences including a fully stocked, stainless steel kitchen, a jetted tub, and a washer and dryer. Mixed in with southwest architecture there are eastern details in some of the doorways, vanity cabinets, and cabinet doors. The 2 bedrooms have king size beds. Additionally there is a pull out queen size sofa sleeper, a twin size day bed, and if necessary a crib tucked under the guest bed that can be constructed. As you open the front door you enter into the nice size living room with 2 seating areas. Just beyond is the kitchen to one side and a bathroom and guest bedroom to the other side. Continuing on there is a full size dining room and tucked way in the back is the master suite and master bath.

Just around the corner is the El Monte Sagrado Resort where you can pamper yourself at the luxury spa, have a gourmet meal, or listen to live music in the bar. It is also walking distance to the town square. It takes about 12 minutes to walk to the plaza unless temptation draws you into the shops and galleries along Kit Carson Road.

There are four ski areas relatively close including Taos Ski Mountain which is 19 miles away - about a 20-30 minute drive. The other ski areas are: Angel Fire - 23 miles away, Sipapu - 20 miles South of Taos, and Red River - 45 miles North East of Taos.

Some of the best of Taos is not in Taos but can be found just 4 miles south in the tiny community of Ranchos de Taos. Best known for its church--a soul-stirring example of adobe architecture. The church was built by Franciscan friars around 1816 and remains an archetype of adobe construction: The back buttress alone contains some 10,000 adobe bricks. As you drive into Ranchos de Taos on State 68, you'll see San Francisco de Asis church from the back. No matter: At any angle the church is beautiful, its smooth, windowless curves and angles making a remarkable canvas for changing light and shadows. This powerful simplicity has made San Francisco an architectural icon that inspired some of the best art of the Sout

Owner info

About the owner: My husband and I live in Colorado with our basset hound Maggie. We try and escape to Taos about once a month just to relax, experience the culture, and for the good food.

Why the Owner Chose Taos:
We chose to buy a vacation home in Taos because it is a peaceful laid-back place to get away from the rat race. It is a place to drench yourself in culture and history. Even the most ordinary things are made beautiful here. Everything that is seen with the eye or tasted with the palate is a work of art.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We enjoy the live music, the amazing restaurants, meeting the artists, walking the historic streets.
