A great family vacation. House is well-appointed. Outdoor living space is just as nice as inside. After the second night, I stopped noticing there was no television in the bedroom. Instead, you fall asleep listening to the ocean! Long Island is a jewel, and I'm glad to have visited before it gets "discovered". Breath-taking beaches; thoughtful, considerate residents and an unhurried tempo. David and family manage the property, and was always available to answer questions and had great recommendations. We will always remember his kindness. This house was on par with a 5-star hotel!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Wow what a great review! Thank you for noticing how hardworking and committed David and Mahalia are in ensuring you are delighted in your stay =)

My husband and our 10 year old daughter have travelled to many of the Bahama (family) Islands, I have to say...Long island is now our favourite. The Osprey Nest is definitely one of the nicest homes we have stayed in. The house is so well stocked, with the best of cooking utensils, dishes, Wonderful comfortable beds, high end linens. Cant say enough good about the accommodations. You definitely would not be disappointed !! Some of the pictures on this site could be updated as the landscaping has filled in wonderfully. The vegetation around the house is now nice and lush. We were able to pick a big sweet watermelon from the garden. If you like beach walking, shelling, looking for beautiful coloured beach glass. The beaches right at the house, go on for ever and ever. There are wonderful rock formations to look at. Really fun walking the beach every day to see what the ocean has brought in.... Both big and little kids would love it. Chris and Ed were very prompt getting back to us with any questions we had. The house manager David and his wife Malhalia were fantastic and catered to our every whim. Hamiltons Cave is a must see... Very worthwhile. The Leonards 3Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for the glowing review! Needless to say we are always gratified when folks enjoy the house and Long Island as we do. We hope you will return to the Nest soon =)

Spent the week between Christmas and New Years in 2012 at the Osprey's Nest. The house is located right on the ocean with a very nice beach right in front of the house. The beach area is only shared by a few houses so we had the beach to ourselves most of the time. The house is a very modern house with all the luxuries of home. David the care taker was excellent in helping us while we were on the island. We arrived on a holiday and all of grocery stores were closed. David's father opened up his grocery store just so we could get some food. The island is a great place to relax and explore. Many very nice beaches on the island!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay! Come back soon =)

We have just spent the most amazing week at the Osprey's nest. I,my husband and children traveled with my parents and brother and his partner to celebrate my father's 70th birthday and to fulfil a dream of 39 years to return to the island on which we lived for 6 years and on which I and my brother were born. The house was everything we could have hoped for providing luxurious yet simple surroundings for all 8 of us and something for everyone aged 9-70. We enjoyed the kayaks, snorkelling on the reef and swimming in the cove. Being near the centre of the island made it easy for us to travel both north and south to catch up with long lost friends and visit old haunts and we could return to the comforts of our wonderful home for the week. The house had everything we needed, including lovely toiletries in the shower, a well stocked pantry which we added to, comfortable furnishings (including the most amazing beds!) and plenty of places to sit in the shade or soak up the sun. The owners have lovely taste and both the architechture of the house and its contents reflect this. Being on the Atlantic coast the northeast trade winds were blowing - sometimes quite energetically, but this does not spoil the experience as you simply go over to the leeward side and enjoy a day on a beautiful beach there instead. one point of note - we hired saloon cars and wished we had hired 4x4s as the road to the house can be tricky in places, especially when weighed down with suitcases. All in all I cannot recommend the house highly enough. David the manager is wonderfully helpful and his family's shop is conveniently situated at the end of the track, as is Breezes resort who kindly provided us with a late breakfast as we waited for the house to be ready. Thank you for the most amazing holiday and we will be back - I am not leaving it another 39 years!Owner response: So pleased you enjoyed yourselves and Happy Birthday to your Papa! Thank you for the lovely comments and we look forward to your return =) Chris and Edward Caldwell

Wonderful house. Beautiful views. The care taker was very attentive. The drive up to the house was rustic but worth the bumps to the great location. The shops were close for your everyday necessities. Would definitely return!!! Great layout for large family and every mod con. Very very nice!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have just returned from a great stay at The Osprey's Nest on Long Island. The home is top-notch with nothing spared. The attention to detail and design is exceptional. Furnishings are high-end (beds are super comfortable) and the kitchen is well stocked (fantastic drink mixer!). The beach is great and private. Morning (high tide) find the water and waves a bit rough for a leisure float - still fun though. Afternoons is perfect - calm waters and shallow with low tide. Lots to explore among the coast. We brought our 2 young kids (age under 5) - the home and beach were great for them. Highlight was visiting Dean's Blue Hole for some snorkeling and cliff diving. Amazing natural wonder. We rented a car to explore the island - recommend doing same especially since home is far removed from the main road. We ordered food, beer, wine, and other key supplies from www.foodstore2go.com based in Nassau. They delivered it and the property manager (David) stocked the fridge for us - highly recommend doing the same as food prices on the island are expensive and choice is limited. All in all - a great holiday at a great home on a great island. Thank you.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We are pleased you had a great time! And thanks for the heads up about the foodstore2go service, we didn't know that existed and will add that to the info we provide visitors =)

Our family spent 10 days in late December at the Osprey's Nest and found it to be one of the most relaxing vacations we've ever had. Pictures do not do justice to the sophisticated furnishings and design of this house, with a large open area for gathering and lovely bedrooms and en suite baths for more private time. Down the steps and we had a gorgeous private beach and cove. Our only downside was the weather which was unusually windy for most of the time, preventing snorkeling at the lagoon and any relaxing time on the oceanside deck. We spent the days exploring Long Island and had a wonderful time. The house manager, David, was very nice and helpful. The house was exceptionally clean and well maintained, the owners very kind and communicative. A terrific vacation rental experience!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

This was my second visit to what I consider the most restful, beautiful and fun location I've ever been to, and I didn't even fish this trip! My wife and I needed a quick get-away and the 3 and a half days here did the trick. I tell everyone I know about this place and am looking forward to coming back in 3 weeks to bonefish.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

From our vantage point in New Jersey, the Milky Way is only a rumor. Though we both have lived our whole lives 'at the shore', neither of us have truly experienced a the perfect beach day. Never have we traveled anywhere that our 4 children (14, 12, 10 & 8) didn't chime in every 10 road-minutes with "Are we there yet?" Finding the *perfect* vacation spot for a family of 6 has proved to be an elusive fantasy. Walk around all day in a swim suit? No way. I won't dare go an hour in the morning without flipping on the computer or checking my messages on my cell. And why would I want to cook for the family while I'm on vacation anyway? All of that was true, it was our belief, until the day we found The Osprey's Nest. My husband and I woke up to a crescent moon over the cove late every night, and a breathtaking sunrise every morning. Our family will never be the same, and we can never thank you enough for sharing the beautiful serenity/adventure of this place with us. We're already planning our next "treatment". David and Mahalia (property managers) were wonderful, and for our next trip, we're taking David up on his offer to go spear fishing for spiney lobster, you bet! I think the best indication of a successful vacation for this computer-nerd mommy: when we got home, my little girl told me to always remember the playful face I had on while we were at the Nest. She said I should wear it all the time. :D Peace to you all.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: What a beautiful experience you had! So happy for your family and hope you will return to the warm embrace of this special island soon. Thank you for sharing and for giving us some of the same warm feelings. Chris & Edward
