The Property sits on over an acre that backs up onto parkland & part of the San Dieguito River park with has miles of trails which surrounds beautiful Lake Hodges.
Enjoy the music system throughout the home with an endless music selection from Pandora and Rhapsody or use your ipod in the docking station.
The home itself is entirely custom with such design amenities as sand-blasted floor etchings, widespread arches & niches along with custom furniture throughout and wall murals in the kitchen, dining room and one bedroom, faux-finished walls throughout, bringing a sense of warmth, peace & calm throughout. The custom kitchen has lofted beam ceiling with a large roof skylight, large island with sink & seating for 4, 6-burner gas cook top, oven, double sink, and rolling cutting board. There is a 25 ft entry turret entrance with winding staircase to the second floor master suite, a den and office and balcony . Nearly all ceilings are 10 ft or more and many are lofted with sand blasted beams. Entryway is 30ft There are four fireplaces, two wood burning.
There are great outdoor living spaces which include the covered patio with gas barbecue, sink, refrigerator, serving area, and pizza oven. A covered Lanai on the lakeside with hanging bench swing for watching the sunset. The courtyard with its fireplace & fountain is surrounded by the entry turret, dining room with bi-fold doors, kitchen, and the art studio/guestroom, all is beautifully landscaped for a peaceful experience .
Best of all, the home was designed to capture the magnificent views of Lake Hodges and the mountains behind. The kitchen, the family room, the living room, the master suite and deck, the office, two other bedrooms, and the patio all capture the views. The home sits on a quiet culdesac and the neighborhood is great for walking or running.

What a lovely home!!! Our family was vacationing in the San Diego area and wanted to rent a place large enough for the 8 of us. What a jackpot when we found this home. The terraced garden was in full bloom and just gorgeous. The view of the lake was amazing. We feel the pictures just did not do it justice. It was far better than we even expected. I hesitate to even post this review because if others experience it as we did, we might not find it available next time. Truly an A+ .Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

What to say; the house and the property were amazing. My wife and I had our wedding reception there in June, the usually-overcast period for the area. However, this place is inland just enough to avoid the bad weather. We had about 40 friends and family comfortably seated outside to take in the beautiful panoramic views. The house, by the way, is exquisite: the front courtyard, the back patio, the kitchen and the other rooms were incredible. Everyone we talked to thoroughly enjoyed being there. My only complaint, though, is that we didn't get enough time there! You never could! Oh and Lea, John, and Barb were great with helping us plan out the reception.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our family just returned from staying a week in this unbelievable home. After eleven years of summer gatherings at different luxury homes around the state and beyond, we have found our favorite! The age of our group ranged from 11 to 86, and there was something for everyone. The kids loved the pool, hot tub, and endless places to play hide and seek. The older crowd loved the numerous sitting areas inside and outside the house for reading, visiting, and admiring the amazing views. Unlike many homes we've stayed before, this home came complete with everything we'd need and more...shampoo, etc. in the bathrooms, laundry soap in the laundry room, a cozy blanket for late nights gazing at the stars, tons of fresh towels....there was even a bottle of wine and cheese and cracker snack waiting for us when we arrived! Lea and John, the owners, were so helpful during the booking and planning process. And returned our security deposit within a week! We loved the gorgeous home, the fantastic location, and the amazing views so much we've already decided to come back next summer!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

September 19 - 26 This was our first foray into using VRBO.com. It did not disappoint. With three adults and four children (ages 6, 4, and 1 year old twins) and instead of being confined/limited to 2-3 hotel rooms, we looked at a variety of homes located throughout San Diego and chose to stay at this house (renting a home was actually cheaper and much more convenient and relaxing; having an enormous kitchen and being able to put the kids in separate bedrooms, then go and relax by the pool, lounge in the front terrace next to the fireplace or just veg on the couch after running around theme parks all day). This house is simply amazing. First of all, the view was breathtaking. The pictures on the web site actually do not do it justice. It was peaceful, serene, perfect, especially at sunset. The kids thought the pool was fantastic, with it configured with a great shallow end for the little ones (only about a foot deep, then stepping down to deeper water). We spent a significant amount of time in and around the pool as there are multiple sitting areas, large outdoor grill, refrigerator, pizza oven and ping pong table. The stereo system (loaded with Pandora, Rhapsody, Itunes, etc) is wired/zoned throughout the house and into the pool area. We were in contact with the owner on several occasions prior to our arrival, again, not being familiar with the process. They are outstanding, answering questions, finalizing arrangements, etc. Our deposit was refunded in less than a week. We would love to stay at this home again next year. The only potential concern was that the owner kept a family cat in a separate part of the house during our stay. Having family members with allergies was a concern but was a non-issue as the owner did a tremendous job preparing the house. On occasion, you would hear the cat. You may want to discuss this with the owner in advance. Recommended for: All ages. Do be cautious if you have little one’s as the house is not child proofed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

My wife and I, two young children (ages 8 & 5) and their grandparents stay at this property the first week of August 2010. We thank the owners for sharing their house with us during our stay in San Diego. The house is a luxurious custom built 4900SF spacious and clean home with something for every age group. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the heated pool, and our parents enjoyed the spacious and relaxing backyard patio overlooking the hills and Lake Hodges. The view was overlooking the lake was majestic. I enjoyed using large space next to the pool to grill dinner while kids were enjoying their swim after a long day at the theme park. The house had many luxurious amenities including special music systems, landscaping, special luxurious designs, decorations and touches throughout. The neighborhood is very quiet and friendly. My wife and I jogged through the neighborhood often for cardio exercise and enjoyed the weather and scenery. The owner promptly returned our deposit after inspection on last day. The owner was very easy to interact with. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will come back again next year. Special Note: The owner kept a family cat in the house throughout our stay. Our kids enjoyed playing with it & it was not in view majority of the time. However, if you have a pet allergy you might want to notify the owner so.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: The owners are transplanted mid-westerners who met and married in San Diego County. We bought our lot after being blown away by the views from the property. We finished building our home in 2002 and now are ready to share the experience with others who can enjoy everything our home and location have to offer.
