My college buddy and I (we're in our late 20s) stayed at the Trout Bungalow for four nights in August 2012 and had a great experience. The accommodation was comfortable and had all of the amenities we needed for our stay. More importantly, though, Mark was an excellent host and fly fishing guide, who went above and beyond to make our trip a very memorable one (e.g. shuttling us between Bonner and Missoula). The days on the river were great, and we feel fortunate to have had Mark as our guide: he was easy-going, had a great sense of humor, and enabled us to hook into to some really nice cutthroat. All-in-all, I would recommend the Trout Bungalow for anyone looking for a great Montana experience with excellent hosts. We will be back.

We enjoyed our stay at the trout bungalow very much. It was very tastefully appointed, fresh and clean. We particularly enjoyed the great kitchen and deck. There was a new gas grill on the deck, and a great seating area where we usually ate our dinner. It was wonderful to be able to sit and enjoy the Montana outdoors! We made good use of the washer and dryer (also brand new, I think). Even though we rarely needed it, we found that by turning on the air conditioner in the bedroom, it cooled down the whole place. We found the location to be very convenient to Missoula. We highly recommend the trout bungalow!

Great little place just outside Missoula, clean and bright...very nice hosts who provided fresh sourdough to greet our arrival. Though we didn't get a chance to take advantage of it, there is a fire pit for guests...and what better way to enjoy a clear Montana night. Would recommend it for a stay in Missoula anytime.

The property was very clean, with terraced gardens in the back yard which we walked past on the path to the cottage. The house is newly remodeled, with vibrant colors and tasteful decor, and it was very clean. The owner was extremely helpful, going so far as to bake us fresh sourdough bread and check to make sure that all was well. Mark really went above and beyond the call of duty to help us with our specific needs (we have a nine-month old and a four year old), and we really appreciate his generosity. What kept it from being excellent for us was the distance from a class that I was taking in Missoula for 12 hours a day. However, if you want to be just minutes outside of town, it would be excellent. Also, Mark is a fly fishing tour guide - so you might enjoy taking advantage of that!

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1996

About the owner: I moved to the Missoula area in 1986 to attend the University of Montana. I have always been drawn to the area because of the abundance of hiking, fishing, and skiing opportunities. Missoula is nestled within the Rockies and lies directly south of the Rattlesnake Wilderness. The climate is mild (most of the time) compared to the rest of the state, and we enjoy plenty of sunny days. It's been 24 years now, and I'm still here. I married my wife Jen soon after college and we embarked on the family journey together. After spending roughly 15 years in the AEC industry as a draftsman, IT director and CFO of Eclipse Engineering, in 2009 I decided to pursue a career in river and fly fishing guiding.

                  Why the Owner Chose Missoula:
I purchased this home 14 years ago because of the quiet neighborhood and abundance of activities in the area. I love to fish and the proximity of the Clark Fork River, Blackfoot River, and Rock Creek mean that I'll never have to waste time deciding where to fish.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
One of the best features of this property is the mountain and woods behind the house. There is a nice view of the Upper Clark Fork River from above the property and you'll enjoy the beautiful garden. This house is newly remodeled and the bath/shower is tiled and has radiant floor heat. You are literally just minutes from both the Clark Fork and Blackfoot rivers and only a short 5 minute drive into Missoula.
