As you enter the simple stone pillars you will have the opportunity to experience a wonderful vacation retreat and laid back mountain atmosphere. The winding drive will take you past two open meadows leading to our summer home which is nestled on the hill surrounded by 23 natural mountain acres. Enjoy the forested mountain terrain and Ravenswood Lake where you can fish from our shore. The lake is fed by our natural springs and children will love cooling off in the property's creek while catching crawdads. The trampoline up the hill will also be a treat for the children and is located next to a picnic area.
Built as a rural summer cottage in 1934, the house has been lived in year round since 1945 by our grandparents and parents. Since 2006 we have used it for our vacation home where we have enjoyed the mountain climate.
The two-story house has a spacious living room with working fireplace, card table for games and puzzles, flat screen television and 2 sofas with plenty of seating for entertainment. The smaller of the two sofas converts to a bed. The cherry paneled dining room has a table that will seat up to 12 guests. The breakfast room which accommodates 8 looks out over the informal cutting garden and is the perfect place to start your day. A full bath with shower is on the main floor. The second floor’s master bedroom has a queen bed and bath with tub and across the hall there are two bedrooms with a connecting bathroom and original footed tub with updated shower. The first of these bedrooms has a four poster queen bed and the second has a ¾ bed and a twin. A well stocked library is two steps down with an antique day bed that converts to a single. The fourth bedroom with 2 single beds has a small covered porch with a few rocking chairs. There are rear stairs leading back to the first floor.
The cozy guest house off the wisteria arbor has 2 bedrooms with a set of twin beds in each and a connecting full bath with shower/tub. One bedroom has a fireplace and cable television.
We hope you will enjoy our well loved mountain retreat!

The Adult Sunday School class of Trinity Episcopal Church had a "heavenly" time at this bit of paradise. The leaves were cascading in a soft avalanche of color. The weather was sunny and cool - in other words - perfect. The group is already looking forward to next year. May your daughter's wedding be blessed. The house and furnishings render The Little Hill a big pleasure.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This house is wonderful and the grounds are beautiful. We really enjoyed seeing the hummingbirds coming around and feeding on the feeder outside the breakfast nook. Very relaxing time for this extended family of eleven! Weather could have been a little better but we made the most of it! My favorite part was going to the waterfalls. I love it here and will miss being here. I had the best time of my life. Enjoyed the house with furnishings, china, and of course the flower gardens. It brought back memories of our childhood. Flat Rock is so historic and definitely a place to visit.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Our visit at The Little Hill was really wonderful and our parents' golden anniversary party went perfectly-aside from the uninvited thunderstorm that moved thru during dinner. We had a beautiful set up with tents, lights, candles, and tables and then moved everything into the garage just minutes before eating. We were able to get back outside for the cake cutting and some excellant chat time late in the evening...We enjoyed smoked brisket from Hubba Hubba's too and the kids really enjoyed the Wii in the garge as well as the ping pong and the card game "Apples to Apples" which we all played! My daughter and husband had fun catching little fish and crawdads in the creek on the property and we all loved just wandering the yard admiring the beautiful spaces that were covered in snow on our last visit. The beautiful flower garden was in full bloom and we made lovely arrangements - so fun! Our time was precious and short but your home made it so much more memorable for us spending time together there. Thank you for sharing such a special place. We loved it!! Hope we get back soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 5/5
