Flat Rock house description
As you enter the simple stone pillars you will have the opportunity to experience a wonderful vacation retreat and laid back mountain atmosphere. The winding drive will take you past two open meadows leading to our summer home which is nestled on the hill surrounded by 23 natural mountain acres. Enjoy the forested mountain terrain and Ravenswood Lake where you can fish from our shore. The lake is fed by our natural springs and children will love cooling off in the property's creek while catching crawdads. The trampoline up the hill will also be a treat for the children and is located next to a picnic area.
Built as a rural summer cottage in 1934, the house has been lived in year round since 1945 by our grandparents and parents. Since 2006 we have used it for our vacation home where we have enjoyed the mountain climate.
The two-story house has a spacious living room with working fireplace, card table for games and puzzles, flat screen television and 2 sofas with plenty of seating for entertainment. The smaller of the two sofas converts to a bed. The cherry paneled dining room has a table that will seat up to 12 guests. The breakfast room which accommodates 8 looks out over the informal cutting garden and is the perfect place to start your day. A full bath with shower is on the main floor. The second floor’s master bedroom has a queen bed and bath with tub and across the hall there are two bedrooms with a connecting bathroom and original footed tub with updated shower. The first of these bedrooms has a four poster queen bed and the second has a ¾ bed and a twin. A well stocked library is two steps down with an antique day bed that converts to a single. The fourth bedroom with 2 single beds has a small covered porch with a few rocking chairs. There are rear stairs leading back to the first floor.
The cozy guest house off the wisteria arbor has 2 bedrooms with a set of twin beds in each and a connecting full bath with shower/tub. One bedroom has a fireplace and cable television.
We hope you will enjoy our well loved mountain retreat!

I simply cannot tell you how much fun we had. The house was marvelous and we were honored that you shared it with us. We did eat at the Flat Rock Bakery, shopped in town, and spent time in Asheville as well. However, the highlight of our weekend was spending time exploring the house and grounds. What a true blessing to have been able to spend this time together at such a magical place. I assure you we will be back. Thank you again for making this a perfect weekend for us!

A Wonderful Family Trip
A Wonderful Family Trip
What a blessing to spend five wonderful days with our children and their families at The Little Hill! It was great to have everyone together in one place. When we arrived at The Little Hill on June 19, we found a warm and friendly home decorated inside and out with fresh flowers. The photos on this website showed a lovely property. The actual house and property exceeded our expectations in every way. A fully stocked kitchen with cookware, dishes, utensils, appliances, etc. made meal preparations a pleasure. Having a refrigerator in the kitchen and another in the gaming area was an added plus. The large dining room and breakfast area were the perfect sizes for meals together. The bedrooms provided privacy and were furnished with comfortable beds and linens. Plenty of towels were provided for bathing and for use in the kitchen. The large living room was the perfect gathering place for nightly conversations, games, movies, and music performances. During the day, we enjoyed the large property and all its amenities. The children enjoyed playing on the trampoline and in the large outdoor areas. The creek was a pleasure as the children looked for craw dads and went wading and the adults joined them to play or to watch. We made a daily walk to the small lake to visit the ducks and geese. The gaming area provided lots of fun and a place for friendly competition during ping pong games and Wii video games. The property was fully and beautifully lighted at night. There was plenty of space for parking multiple cars. The Little Hill is in a very convenient location with grocery stores, drugstores, restaurants, shopping, and many attractions close by. We felt very safe during the day and at night and we appreciated the presence of a caretaker on the property to address our needs. Patty Adams, the owners’ representative, was so pleasant to work with and so helpful. She answered all our questions before we arrived and gave us advice about our concerns. We highly recommend this property. We will definitely return to The Little Hill. In fact, we’d like to make it an annual destination for our family!!

Moncks Corner Sunday School Class
The Adult Sunday School class of Trinity Episcopal Church had a "heavenly" time at this bit of paradise. The leaves were cascading in a soft avalanche of color. The weather was sunny and cool - in other words - perfect. The group is already looking forward to next year. May your daughter's wedding be blessed. The house and furnishings render The Little Hill a big pleasure.

This house is wonderful and the grounds are beautiful. We really enjoyed seeing the hummingbirds coming around and feeding on the feeder outside the breakfast nook. Very relaxing time for this extended family of eleven! Weather could have been a little better but we made the most of it! My favorite part was going to the waterfalls. I love it here and will miss being here. I had the best time of my life. Enjoyed the house with furnishings, china, and of course the flower gardens. It brought back memories of our childhood. Flat Rock is so historic and definitely a place to visit.
