Proud USCGA Parents
My husband and I joined some friends at the Creek House for Parent's Weekend at the academy. We very much enjoyed our time talking on the porch, kayaking, cooking both on the grill and in the kitchen, and spending time with our cadets. Waking up and being able to go out onto the porch and enjoy the sounds of the birds as we overlooked the river was amazing! We also had a chance to enjoy the evening in the company of good friends and our children sitting next to the fire pit and roasting some S'mores that were left for us by the owners. The house was clean and cozy and the information about the history of the house was very interesting. My husband and I would be very happy to be able to come back for another visit to the Creek House during Parent's Weekend. Thank you to the owners for making our stay quite enjoyable and memorable.

Nice Time at Creek House
Nice Time at Creek House
Our extended family had a very nice time at Creek House. The toddlers had fun on the dock and small beach crabbing, and when they tired of that they ended up in the play area on the slide and in the sand box. Close to beaches, New London, and Mystic, we were able to take easy outings with the children. The adults were comfortable in the house, and everyone had ample space to interact or to find a quiet place to read or think. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking tools, and there is a Stop & Shop 15 mins away by car. The homeowner was responsive and organized.

This was our 2nd time at the Creek House and it was just as great as last year. Angela was great to deal with. The house was large enough for our family of 13 with room to spare. The property was so enjoyable for everyone, a large Playscape for the little ones and birds, rabbits, chipmunks and a beautiful view. Everyone used the Kayaks and tubes. This year we took our bicycles. The beach was a short ride away. The house was clean and well maintained and everything you could need was there. We had a wonderful memorable week. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us.

We stayed at Creek house for my daughter's graduation from the Coast Guard Academy. The home was clean, comfortable, and very well stocked with groceries. Angela(homeowner) was wonderful to deal with. The setting was perfect. Even though we had a few rainy days, there was plenty to do inside the house. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing setting. The kayaking was wonderful, sitting on the deck was picturesque, and talks around the campfire at night were just perfect.

Great Vacation Home
Great Vacation Home
My family and I have used VBRO many times and this is one of best places we rented. The home is very clean, comfortable and cozy. The property is huge but most of all its surrounding are beautiful. From the gorgeous maple tree to the serene flowing creek and tall grass wetlands. The home is well maintained and has everything you could possible need and more. We did some crabbing and fishing right off the dock which was so much fun. Attractions done and recommended: Providence RI, ( the waterfire show and Roger Williams zoo - they have an amazing display of over 5000 carved pumkins during the fall season). Fort Trumbell State Park - closed for the season but able to walk around the area and go on the huge fishing pier- watched the coast guard training in the water. Essex steam train and riverboat. Mystic seaport and aquarium - Mystic Pizza - yummy! There's a ice cream shop by the famous drawbrigde in mystic( next to the black dog shop) that makes the best homemade ice-cream. Pumpkin Ice cream amazing!! Drove to Mystic twice to get more ice cream. Go to Lenny's and Joes fishtail restaurant in Westbrook by the outlets. Great food for good prices. They even have a soviener shop that sells caps and T-shirts for cheap. The owners are so organized and so nice to deal with. Thank you Angela for being so kind and accommodating. My family and I thank you very much for the rental of your home. We had a great time.

My family, friends and I cannot stop talking about this home and how wonderful and perfect it is! We spent the week leading up to my wedding kayaking everyday and enjoying the large yard and the beautiful, peaceful views! We also had our rehearsal dinner at the home and it was the perfect spot, everyone was very impressed and loved the home! My husband and I hope to rent again this summer and enjoy the home again and reminisce about the amazing week we had before the best day of our lives! Thank you so much Angela for accommodating us and letting us stay at your lovely home!

Great getaway in my own state!
Great getaway in my own state!
We loved our time at Creek House. Like Marge from Colchester, we had visitors and guests from infants to age 87 and this home worked for all of us. There was plent for the kids to do, and easy for their parents to keep an eye on them. There is plenty to do and see in the area, but it is just as wonderful if you decide to stay at the house. I had my coffee overlooking the river every morning and watched the parade of birds that passed through. Several of my guests asked about information for renting the property, so I don't doubt that there will be even more folks to compete with for rental time next year!

Upon checking in for our stay, we were amazed at how well stocked the home was. Everything we needed was there. It was cozy, clean and comfortable. We averaged 10-14 people, ages ranging from 6 to 68 and there was plenty of room for everyone. The lounge area upstairs was great for the kids. That's where they hung out when they weren't crabbing, swimming, jumping off the bridge or playing in the yard. The adults enjoyed yard games and just being with family. We used the tiki torches and found that it worked great keeping the bugs away in the evenings. We did a campfire one night and roasted marshmellos. There is a jewelery store in a church at Flanders called LA Jewelery worth checking out. At Flanders four corners, take a left and it's passed CVS on the left. Everyone in our family took a vote and we hope to return to the creek house next year. Thank you for sharing the creek house and all it's history with us.

Great outdoor space and VIEWS!
Great outdoor space and VIEWS!
This was a great place for our family to use as home base for our son's wedding in CT. The wedding events were in Essex and Deep River but Creek House was close enough to easily attend those and return. And when we got back to the house we loved to relax, watch the wildlife, enjoy the many thoughtfully chosen outdoor seating areas and cook meals in the very well-stocked kitchen. When it rained, we sat out on the covered deck outside the kitchen door. Our 3 year old granddaughter thought she was in heaven with the little play structure and space to play. When we had the time to use the kayaks, the adults pretty much agreed. Thanks to Angela for answering all our questions and being so welcoming and accommodating. p.s. The bedroom downstairs could use some darkening shades for those who don't necessarily want to wake up with the sunrise.

Great Family Retreat
Great Family Retreat
My family of 8 adults and 3 children spent a week in this lovely family friendly home. There was plenty of room for all of us, the 4 main bedrooms are spacious and the "bachelor's room" was perfect for the oldest child who loved having her own room! The downstairs living room has both a TV area, and an adjacent sitting room for reading or conversation. The upstairs living room was great for the kids. We found a supply of kids toys and a closet full of family games for kids of all ages. We spent a lot of time in the kitchen and it was well-stocked for large groups. The outdoor areas of the house are delightful. The wrap around porch provided shade throughout the day. We especially enjoyed gathering on the east porch in the late afternoon and evening for great views and conversation. The breeze from the river kept us cool and comfy. There's a sand box and play area for the kids, a fire circle for roasting marshmallows, and a volley ball net. All the necessary outdoor items are stocked on the porch near the door (beach balls, whiffle ball and bat, sunscreen, bug repellant, flip flops, sand toys, etc.) For those of who enjoy bird watching, you can do it all from the porch. We were visited by a great egret, osprey, comorants, barn swallows, mockingbirds, a plethora of song birds, ducks, geese, morning doves and of course the occasional sea gull. The brush between the house and the creek is home to a family of bunnies, and their are also ground squirrels and a woodchuck or maybe 2. Niantic town was delightful. Don't miss the Book Barn for thousands of used books at great prices, gardens, goats, fountains and a kids play area. We made a day-trip to Mystic, which is 45 minutes away, and definitely worth a visit. Rocky Neck State Park is 10 minutes away, and has a wonderful beach, and the town park also has a beach and a great shady area for picnics. But we also thoroughly enjoyed taking the kayaks out for a spin, crabbing for blue crab off the dock and just hanging out at the house. Angela and Matt were helpful, responsive and professional. (Take a look at some of the old photos of the historic house and their family which has owned it since the 40's.) I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a pleasant, comfortable, laid back spot to enjoy family, friends and life on the river.
