My wife and I spent a week at the Magnolia Cottage with our dog. It is a very nice house and was described well within the VRBO description. We found it to be clean and larger then expected. Hendersonville itself was nice but a little sleepy for our liking. We really appreciated the fact that we were able to bring our dog. It made several hikes to the nearby waterfalls that much better. In conclusion, this rental is a 5 star home all day long with one exception. As a previous reviewer stated, the living room couch is terribly uncomfortable. I don't know what exactly is wrong with it but it is like sitting in a hole. In addition, there are two other chairs in the living room. One of them is broken with a spring hanging out the bottom. Therefore, we mostly spent our evenings at the dining room table because there was only one usable chair in the living room. As a result, I am giving the place 4 stars because I really couldn't use the living room and thus the fireplace or TV.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words and bringing the furniture problems to our attention. We have replaced the sofa and chair that were mentioned and hope that our living room is a relaxing and comfortable place for our guests. We try our best to keep our cottage in tip top condition and we are happy to quickly address any issues that arise.

This was our second time staying in a Carolina Cottage rental and we were not disappointed. The Magnolia was more beautiful and spacious than the pictures led us to believe. We had everything we needed to make our week comfortable and enjoyable. Our children really liked their first snow tubing trip to Moonshine Mountain and we enjoyed our visits to the local shops and eateries. Our dogs Kakkie and Lilly thank you Lee and Laura for providing pet friendly rentals for well behaved dogs. We look forward to staying with you again soon!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our stay at the Magnolia Cottage. The place was very clean and had everything that we needed. I would have liked that it was a little bit closer to Main Street. The only thing that was a little problem was the sofa was rather uncomfortable. Otherwise everything was great. It was really close to Asheville and the other towns, Flat Rock, Fletcher, etc. were also close. I think anyone would enjoy there stay at Magnolia Cottage. And I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay in the area. Barb from Carolina Cottages was great to work with. One restaurant that we enjoyed for breakfast and lunch was Mean Mr. Mustard. Great food. We also tried West First Wood Fired Pizza. Pretty good. Would have liked to try Never Blue, but is closed on Sunday and Monday as are most of the places in Hendersonville. There was also a Fresh Market close by.Did you find this review helpful? this 1928 Craftsman was our home for 8 days and we really enjoyed it. a minor plumbing repair on the third day was handled with a phone call and done before we got back mid-afternoon. Closer to Laurel Park than Hendersonville [.7 mile] we ate at the Dixie Diner [3 times] and the Sol de Luna [2 times] as they had great food and real fast service. the Lime??? thai place on main st was a luncheon highlight. the owners hooked us up with about 12 homes to drive by so we could get a feel for the West of Main neighborhoos. town of Horseshoe and homes just to the north were newer and priced right and very QUIET. house fit the wife and I with our youngest son [over 40] very comfortably. the Ingles Market in Laurel Park was friendly and the Fresh Market on south Main was high end and helped us create great meals. hope to be back late winter/early spring. maybe not the Magnolia house but definitely Carolina Cottages owned and maintained. Great way to get the feel of small town living..Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

This is the third time we've stayed at a Carolina Cottage property and as always the property was clean and well-maintained. This particular property appered to have been recently renovated and retained much of its original historic character (hardwood floors, built-in bookcases, fireplace, etc.) while sporting the usual modern conveniences (kitchen, bathroom, heat/air). Upon arrival we realized we didn't have the password for the WiFi, and (although it was after 5 PM) we called and were provided with the password. One pleasant surprise was our visit to Dupont State Park. While the crowds were pretty heavy (evidently part of the movie The Hunger Games was filmed there and some of the visitors were there for that), paths to the various attractions - especially the spectacular waterfalls - were navagable and well-marked. A must-see for anyone interested in hiking. My family (jncluding friendly golden retriever) can't wait for our next visit to Hendersonville, hopefully in the fall.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Where do we start? The Magnolia is a clean, well maintained, comfortable vacation home. Having a long term stay only made us appreciate the property, location and amenities more. It felt like it was our 'home away from home' in a quiet-pedestrian friendly neighborhood. The owners (Lee and Laura) are always accommodating. Convenient to everything- an easy walk to the downtown area -you can get your exercise, walk your pet, dine, shop anytime you want. Absolutely give this property 5 stars. (Even the weather was great!)Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

The Magnolia is a remodeled, relaxing home approximately 1 mile from downtown Hendersonville. This two bedroom, two bath cottage is clean, completely furnished and totally relaxing. It had everything we needed for our long term stay, including cable and wi-fi. The queen size beds with the euro-pillow tops are soo very comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped. I felt safe walking my dog around the area and the all neighbors I met were friendly. An easy walk to Main Street for shopping (Mast General Store), restaurants (Hannah Flanagan’s for a quick bite and always good food), coffee shops or just sitting around on a park bench eating ice cream and people watching. The stores are pet friendly and have treats for your dog; there are even water bowls out on the streets for your thirsty pet. We look forward to returning to the Magnolia or any of the properties that Lee and Laura have.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Good Times at Magnolia!

The cottage was everything we'd hoped for and more! The owners (kind and courteous folks) did an excellent job of modernizing this 1928-style home to make it cozy and comfortable while keeping its original character and quaint charm. The kitchen is particularly well-equipped compared to other places we have stayed. It's in an excellent location--close enough to downtown Hendersonville for convenience, but in a good neighborhood where we felt safe walking. Hendersonville itself is a lot of fun; we ended up spending most of our time around the Main Street area, but also enjoyed the beautiful mountains with their waterfalls, Jump Off Rock, etc. We definitely plan to vacation here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

I loved the cottage and called it home while I was there. It lived up to the pictures, it was clean, it was comfortable (it even had more electrical outlets in each room than my house has). I would recommend any of the properties owned by Lee and Laura. I went to look at several other rentals of theirs and all of them more than met my needs. The purpose of this trip was to look for future longer term rentals 3-4 months. I saw cabins, cottages, and apartments and none of them were as good as Carolina Cottages! We discovered the perfect Thai restaurant a short distance away - Thai Spice!!!!! There is so much to do I could not begin to list all the activities. I ate 4 times the calories I eat at home and lost 1.5 lbs. while there. For me it was mostly chasing down all the awesome waterfalls!! The cottage is in a very safe area and you will love it!! The owners are wonderful.
