- Screened in back porch, with table and chairs for meals outside. The cottage is clean and well kept. We treat it like our home. It is a great get-away spot but only 30 minutes from all the tourist attractions in Traverse City, i.e., movies, a mall, spectacular beaches, shops, great restaurants, and much more. Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes are less than an hour away and Mackinaw Bridge only a two hour drive. The village of Fife Lake is one of the most beautiful in Michigan and the cottage gives a panoamic view of the lake. Come and see the loons that serenade you every night and the high flying eagles that regularly fish the lake. Read a book or ride a horse. Go fishing, walking, site seeing, or just enjoy a pleasant breeze off the lake. Visit a lighthouse or a winery, a marina or a French restaurant. All are only minutes away. Google for information and check out MapQuest for exact distances. Plan early. Looking forward to hearing from you....moreless

A VERY COZY COTTAGE
A VERY COZY COTTAGE
We were very pleased when we arrived at the cottage, it looked exactly as it did in the pictures online. It was a last minute booking, since previous plans got cancelled. Would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay. It was very clean and well equipped. You can tell that the owner's take very good care of this cottage. It was fall when we visited, so the town was very quiet. We did some shopping in Traverse City and also golfing in the area. We hope to come back sometime, maybe in the summer.

Owner response: We take pride in a clean, well kept, cottage that provides renters with a great place to stay for a few nights or for weeks at a time. It is located on the edge of a quiet lakeside village provideing opportunities to walk/hike, bike, horseback ride, boating, swimming, tubing, canoeing, fishing, etc. In addition, Traverse City is only 25 minutes away and offers shopping, great restaurants, winery tours, white sandy beaches, theatre, and much more. Come enjoy Northern Michigan as you take that well deserved vacation. Reserve your time now. The scenery and the lake view alone are worth it! Open: April to mid-November. Taking reservations year round.
Cozy, Comfortable, wonderful home
Cozy, Comfortable, wonderful home
This home was beautiful. It had many personal touches in the decorating in every room. It is very well kept and extremely clean! The knotty pine throughout the home was great. We played games and cards in the spacious screened in frontporch and had morning coffee in the four season back porch which has a nice view of the lake. We were only there two days but saw a deer, plenty of different birds, chipmunks and more. It is well worth the price and we would definetly be interested in a return visit and would recommend this property. We only needed a 2 night stay and even though they typically rent for 3 or more, the owners were happy to work with us.

Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Why not come and enjoy for yourself some time away in a comfortable getaway spot. Come for quiet solitude or busy days of sight seeing, tubing, horseback riding, biking, or any number of other summertime pursuits. Make a reservation now for next month or next year. You'll be glad you did! One correction: Our screened in porch is in the back and the enclosed front porch, with the view of the lake, is in the front of the cottage.

Well this was our last stop on a 2 week vacation. Wow if had we went here first we would not have wanted to leave. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, cozy and peaceful. It made me feel at home, and that says a lot. The view of the lake was nice and relaxing. The access to the water was relatively easy. The screened in porch was the place to sit in the mornings and just listen to nature. In the evenings it keeps the mosquitoes out. This is a place that we want to return too, and hope to do so next year!! I could only imagine what the lake would look like in the fall… Only downer was the grill it just was not what we expected.

Peace & Quiet
Peace & Quiet
Our family stayed at the cottage on Fife Lake and truly had a wonderful time together. It is very quaint and clean. The view in the sun room of the lake is breathtaking as the sun comes up and glistens off the lake in the morning. We enjoyed breakfasts watching the birds outside the kitchen bay window. There are old railroad tracks along the lake and enjoyed a walk into town following them. If you truly enjoy nature and peace this is the place for you. The owners had everything in place and even had a wonderful bottle of wine waiting for us on the kitchen table. We look forward to coming up again soon to take in some fishing. We also traveled into Traverse City and enjoyed the Dunes and state parks which are within driving distance and lots of stores and restaurants to choose from. P.S. The beds are very comfy! Sue & Tom

Owner response: We continue to offer one of the most beautiful lake view properties on Fife Lake with lake access close by and the village park/beach just a short walk away. With room for families with kids as well as singles, couples, or small groups there is something to meet nearly every need. Within a twenty minute drive there is horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, and kayaking on either the Manistee or Boardman rivers. Bring your own equipment or rent at reasonable rates from riverside liveries. For those looking for a quieter experience sit by the fireplace and read that book you haven't had time to read or sit on the front porch and listen for the haunting call of the loons that make the lake their summer home. If you like getting up with the sun, try sleeping on the bed on the porch and awaken to the sun streaming across the shimmering lake from the eastern sky. After breakfast why not take a stroll to Mirror Lake? It is a postcard perfect lake just five minutes behind the cottege. If Traverse City is "calling your name", the beaches of Grand Traverse Bay, great restaurants, theatre, movies, shops, wineries, biking and great people ready to help all await you only a 25 minute drive away! What a great place to spend some days for relaxation and renewal! Reserve your spot now and come experience all the north country has to offer.

About the owner: I am recently retired and Sally is an interior designer. We live in Traverse City and love northern Michigan. The Traverse City area has numerous activities, events, and a great mix of people which all adds to the vibrancy of life in the area. Fife Lake, where our cottage is is a quaint village on the shore of Fife Lake. It is a great place to relax and enjoy a small town setting by a beautiful lake just 30 minutes from Traverse City. We love love outdoor activities in all four seasons and want to share our cottage with renters seeking a great vacation spot.
Why the Owner Chose Traverse City:
We first bought our cottage for our own use as a vacation site when we lived in southern Michigan. When we moved to Traverse City we found we were not using the cottage so much and so we began renting it. we have enjoyed having others use and appreciate the cottage and its setting.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Fife Lake is 25 minutes southeast of Traverse City in Grand Traverse County just off of highway 131. There is great bass, walleye, and panfish fishing on Fife Lake. Fife Lake offers a new library (Wi-Fi equipped), restaurants, museum, grocery store, hardware, etc. Picturesque Mirror Lake is two blocks from the cottage with swimming and fishing available. Many other lakes and streams are nearby for kayaking, boating and other water sports. Traverse City hosts many tourist activities throughout the year. Major attractions include the National Cherry Festivaland the Traverse City Film Festival. Many nearby towns offer additional shopping, antiquing, great restaurants, entertainment.
