L'il Gecko was a lovely inviting home with everything needed to relax and enjoy yourself...My wife and I stayed for two weeks and it was by far the best vacation we have ever had.Guana is such a peaceful place with gin colored waters on both the Atlantic and Abaco side...The settlement was small and quiet and friendly..during our stay we swam pretty much every day did a lot of cooking right at the house and also ate out at Nippers, Grabbers and Pirates Cove. All the food was great. The prices at the Guana Grocery were higher than in the states but not as high as we had expected...We did all of our shopping right on Guana. If you are looking for a place to just get away from it all and truly find out what " Island Time" is all about just leave all of your high tech devices behind and step into L'il Gecko...It will put you into a state of complete bliss. My wife and I will be booking another stay very soon.Owner response: Thanks Wayne and Cheril - we are so happy you 2 have 'discovered" Guana Cay and we were able to be part of your discovery!

We had a great time at Lil Gecko and Guana Cay. You have a wonderful place. We enjoyed all the pretty vegetation that surrounds your home and all the beautiful wildlife as well: birds, lizards, etc…. But, our favorite was the crow's nest. We spent every morning drinking coffee while enjoying the sites and sounds of the Atlantic Ocean and every evening savoring the stars and the moonlight reflecting off the Sea of Abaco. Most of the week, the electricity was not an issue. It was out mostly during the day. On Monday night, it was out late and we had to try to go to sleep without A/C but it finally turned on around 12:45 am. On Tuesday night, it went out for about 3 hours in the middle of the night. We spent the majority of our time enjoying the island, the wonderful island full-time residence as well as the visitors. Loved the beach, we went to about 4 different beach accesses. One morning we just investigated the island via the golf cart. Got some snorkeling in, great views underwater! We met Jeff Jones from Bakers Bay and the executive chef. We met Kim at Grabbers. We met Jerry and Forrest at Pirates Cove. Loved the fresh bread at the Art Café! Rented a boat from Troy at Dive Guana and took home a wonderful prop as a souvenir! Happy Anniversary Tracie! And we bought a Barefoot Man CD. Ate everywhere: Art Café for breakfast, and dinner at Grabbers, Nippers, Bakers Bay (twice), and Pirates Cove. As for Lil Gecko itself, we found everything that we needed in the house, very clean, nothing needs replacement, awesome pre-visit and in house information. We will be coming back, so you will hear from us again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Lets face it. It does not get any better than this! Jim & Kathy's cottage is an outstanding value in todays economy, amentities abound, clean, cozy, and perfectly located on a hillside on a delightful laid back cay in the outer islands of the Abaco's. Plenty to do all day if you wish, Nippers, Grabber's, Dive Guana,Art Cafe (Bakery), ferry to another cay for the day, fish, beachcomb or enjoy the labor that Jim and Kathy have put into their property. As a matter of fact, we saw very few people on the beach by the cottage(some days no-one) and we felt it was all ours to enjoy. Sure didn't miss the crowds that you would normally see. You could not find better hosts and it shows in their cottage, lots of pride of ownership. The photo's I reviewed from their website were right on, I had felt like I had been there before because it was exactly, if not better, than we both imagined. Everything was just as it was on their website. Everything! Jim & Kathy have a great attitude and are very helpful in getting you acquainted prior to arrival, that was very much appreciated by us. Also, the caretakers, Pat & Sydney, were very accomodating in picking us up from the ferry right on time, that made us feel comfortable in a place we had never been before. This property and the owners were perfect in every way. Please enjoy this property if you are going to Guana Cay, it is just simply outstanding.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

A magical place. Great snorkeling and boat rental at Dive Guana, well equipped grocery, Nippers and sunsets at Grabbers, conversation at Pirate's Cove & Milo--to name only a fraction of it's friendly residents and business owners. The cottage is cozy, quiet, fully equipped w/ all needs, well maintained, comfortable, decorated w/ great care and charm, breath-taking views from the decks -day and night-, views of masts in the harbor from your bed pillow, a tropical paradise...these are all comments we agree with. (We added a few.) Great Guana was a HOME for our family of 4 during our 2 1/2 weeks there. We definitely recommend this cottage as a destination.Did you find this review helpful? We spent 7 fun filled days on Guana and the L'il Gecko cottage was wonderful. The house feels very private but is only minutes from the village. We spent a lot of time exploring the island and could not find any home we thought would be preferable to L'il Gecko. This is a clean, comfortable and well equipped home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I can't express how much I enjoyed the vacation at Lil Gecko and Guana. I particularly loved the snorkeling and the deck and garden spaces. The island people are terrific. Plenty to do but quiet enough to just relax, too. The cottage was very comfortable, with lots of thoughtful amenties. Truly magical place!!!!Did you find this review helpful? WE SPENT A WONDERFUL TRANQUIL VACATION IN THIS COZY BEACHHOUSE WATCHING THE SUNRISE FROM THE CROW'S NEST AND THE SUNSET FROM SUNSET BEACH. IT WAS A TROPICAL PARADISE TO RELAX AND ENJOY THE LOCALS AND THEIR CUSTOMS. WE RENTED A BOAT AND WENT SNORKELING ALONG THE BEACHES OF GREAT GUANA CAY. IT IS DEFINATELY A PLACE TO COME AND RELAX.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Couldn't have asked for more in comfort and amenities. Woke up every morning to enjoy the hummingbirds and sugarbirds at the bird feeder and admire the lovely gardens. The island itself is charming and we enjoyed getting to know the locals, secondhomeowners and other tourists on Guana and the surrounding islands. Fishing off L'il Gecko's dock was a pleasure in itself - I even caught some fish worth keeping (yellowtail snapper). The abacos were a pleasure to visit -- and L'il Gecko Cottage was the perfect place to return to after exploring the charming area. We plan to return to both soon. Thanks, you must be so proud of your slice of paradise.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Just spent a week at this delightful cottage on the beautiful island of Great Guana Cay. The homeowners are incredibly thoughtful and make sure you have all the information and questions answered before you even arrive!! The house is perfectly situated to enjoy both ocean and Sea of Abaco views. You can see the sailboat masts in the bay from the master bedroom without lifting your head from the pillow. The crows nest is wonderful; as is the garden with its lovely herbs, veggies and flowers. Guana is a really laid back kind of place with wonderful people, the most beautiful beaches, great food and fabulous snorkelling. I would highly recommend Lil Gecko if you are looking to rent a home on this island. It is completely equipped with everything you will want or need. I want this house for my own!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We just returned from an amazing week at Lil Gecko and had a wonderful time. The views from sunrise to sunset were amazing as was the snorkeling ( a different spot each day) and the fishing from the new pier. Dining ran the gamut from nice comfortable home cooking to Nippers Pig Roast on Sunday. ( People come on the ferry from the other small islands and Marsh Harbour for this not to be missed "event".) All of the locals are friendly and happy to share their knowledge of the island, weather, fishing tips, etc. with you. We can't wait to return!!!!Did you find this review helpful?
