  We had a lovely vacation in Maui. The accommodations were outstanding. It was very apparent that the owners love this place. The kitchen is well equipped with every possible gadget and appliance. We were happy to call this place home - if only for two weeks!

  This was our second Hawaii vacation, and we were extremely pleased with our choice of rentals! The location is unbelievable -- walk out the patio door, 50 feet to snorkeling with turtles and dozens of species of fish! 2 large and clean sand beaches were 200 yards away in either direction. We watched whales every day, right from the patio. Inside, the unit was clean, and very well-apportioned. At the rare times we didn't want to hear the sound of the waves, the thick glass and shutters on the windows blocked the outside noises completely. But, who doesn't want the sound of the waves! All the Maui venues were readily accessible from Kihei when we ventured away from the beach. We actually spent most of our stay in and around Kihei as we never tired of the beach and snorkeling. Could have easily spent another week exploring the bay. The immediate town atmosphere is laid-back island style. Just a short drive south takes you to Wailea, much more upscale with high-end shopping and resorts. Go just a little farther south, and you are in undeveloped wild Maui. Coconut Fish Café a mile or two north is a must -- we ate dinner there 3 nights out of 7. Outstanding local fish. This is a hole-in-the-wall type place, but the food was superb. Kihei is a full-service town. There are groceries, medical center, and sports gear shops, all within 2-3 miles of the condo.

  This was our first trip to Maui and our first time renting something off of VRBO. Maui was incredible and renting this condo made our trip perfect. The condo is very clean and beautifully decorated and has anything you could possibly need and more. It has a fully stocked kitchen and it was such a treat to find that the homeowner also included beach towels, coolers, boogie/skim board, beach chairs, beach toys etc.. This made it so easy for us with our young kids. In my opinion the location of this condo is unbeatable. It is a ground floor unit that is steps away from the pool and you also have 2 beautiful beaches on either side of you. We went snorkelling right out front of the condo and saw two beautiful sea turtles and other little fish. The homeowner is very organized and nice to deal with. I really got the impression that they love their home and that they care that your stay is a good one. I would highly recommend this listing and we will definitely be back!

  Our second stay in this unit. Hard to complain about a piece of paradise. We have spent literally years in the Royal Mauian and we finally found out why people love being on the ground floor. It is perfect for kids of all ages. This unit exceeds any pictorial or written description. The owner is well organized, responsive and a treat to deal with.

  October 13, 2012 Mahalo Ellen! We are getting ready to leave today and just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed this past week here in paradise. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us Seattlites! We felt all the love you have put into renovating and decorating the condo. Our first time to Maui, many many years ago brings back fond memories of hanging over the balcony to hear Fred blow the conch shell. There were many sunsets on this trip where we envisioned him blowing his shell, saying aloha to the sun! I also have wonderful memories of our son (now 20 y/o) learning to snorkel and become a better swimmer in the pool and the warm waters of Kamaole II. We made the most of each day exploring the south side of Maui. A trip to Molokini, the ocean center, hiked Haleakala, shopped Lahaina, Wailea, Iao Valley, paddle boarded and ate more than we should have on local food! We visited the turtles each day and even had encountered eagle rays right outside the condo. A rare sight to see we hear. All the excitement and activity of the day made for a good nights sleep.   This was our first time in this condo - we'd stayed previous times in other condos at the Royal Mauian, so we thought we knew what to expect. Instead we were blown away by the renovation of the condo. There was a great attention to detail to ensure that we were comfortable there - plenty of cookware for staying in and having dinner, air conditioning for those of us who can't sleep in the heat, good noise insulation so that we didn't hear the birds calling first thing in the morning. And, of course, it's great that you have a large family of sea turtles that live on the reef directly in front of the unit - you can lazily watch them from the grass, or get out in the morning before the winds pick up and swim with a 6' diameter turtle who just looks at you in the eye because he's so used to people swimming with him. Kihei is also a great location - on the dry side of the island, you hardly ever get rain. Great amenities across the street ($35/day for a paddle board) and just down the road from the Kihei town center. Rooftop sunsets are amazing, with or without clouds. And, of course, Ellen is great. Customizing the door code to something you can remember, making sure you're checked in OK and following up when you get home to make sure you had a great trip! We have our 2014 trip on the calendar and will be booking early to stay here again.

  What a beautiful home! We could not say enough positive things about our stay. Everything you could possibly need or want is right there and in our opinion it is the best condo at the Royal Mauian because of it's location. Owner is very kind and helpful and made sure our stay was very enjoyable. Highly recommended!!!

  Aloha, Ellen, This giant MAHALO is very late, I apologize. 2012 was a completely beyond hectic year for our family. We do, however, want to thank you so very much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. It was nothing short of spectacular. Your condo felt like our home for that short time thanks to your kindness and how well stocked everything is (the washer and dryer were a blessing with two young sons). Each time we entered the condo, we were blown away by the view. And, each evening, we were treated to an AMAZING sunset! The mornings proved to be something very special for us, which is HUGE because we are not morning people. I think each of us came to love that time of day at the condo. It was so incredibly peaceful and there is something very special about walking right out onto that barefoot soft lawn and playing ball, laughing, and meeting new friends as people passed by. Definitely Aloha spirit in action there. We had so many plans to tour Maui but instead found ourselves loving to stay right around the condo. Kam I and II were our morning spots, building sand creations, snorkeling while the water was still calm, and jumping some waves as the winds picked up. After lunch, we ventured to Kam III for some excellent boogie boarding. There were so many great places to grab a bite right across the street, that we never had to get into our rental car if we did not want to. The neighbors and other travelers were so kind and welcoming. And, a little touch I loved, to keep sand out of the condo—the outdoor showers on either side of the property—yay! The rooftop patio with grills were a treat. We grilled fish we bought and caught up there and enjoyed several meals on the lanai while watching the sunset. And, the turtles, the turtles! How spoiled we were to have them visit us in the waters right in front of the condo, daily. Your condo was warm and inviting, yet luxurious enough to make us still feel pampered. And, last but not least, you were wonderful to us as well. I was so skeptical, as this was my first VRBO rental. Thanks for getting me over that hump. We hope to make it back there again soon.   We had a great trip. Snorkeling out front in the monring and boogie boarding own on Kam 3 in the afternoon. We took advantage of the roof top grill to cook fish that we bought and caught. Mahalo for everything, Tony, Jen, Marco, & Nico

  Dear Ellen, Thank you again for a wonderful stay in your beautiful condo. There's nothing like staying on the beach in Maui, and we love Kam 1 and 2 beaches the best! We saw lovely sunsets from the beach, the roof and the lanai. We were surprised at how many turtles we could see from the lanai, as well. We hate to leave today, but we hope to be back again soon.   I just rented this unit a couple of weeks ago. This place has all the upgrades you can think of and the location on the ground floor cannot be beat. Everything was in working order and the owner makes it very easy to rent the place and she was very attentive to the check-in/check-out process. This location in Kihei is perfect with some retail shops across the street and Wailea just down the road if you want to go upscale. You'll have a great vacation if you go with this unit!

  What an ideal place to stay on Maui when you want a home away from home. Our family stayed for a week and were so sad to have to leave. The weather was so perfect I don't think we ever used the air conditioner. Always a wonderful breeze and went to sleep each night with the windows open and listening to the ocean waves. Kitchen, bedrooms & furniture all updated. Kitchen fully stocked. We have 3 20 something kids and there was room for all 5 of us. My son loves to grill and we had several meals on the rooftop patio. And every utensil and serving dish imaginable in the drawers. The 4 grills were large and perfectly maintained. What a delight to have an evening meal together watching the sunset. We also spent a lot of time on the lanai just watching the world go by. It was wonderful to walk out our back door and have the water and beach a few steps away. My kids snorkeled at several places on the island but said the best was right outside our condo. Great location with shopping and eating right across the street. First time we have stayed in Kihei and loved this little beach town. The washer and dryer was such a huge bonus--and brand new. Thanks so much for supplying the laundry soap too!!!! Maui tacos across the street has great food. We found a farmers market down the street for fresh veggies and fruit. Had several people recommend Maui Waverunners for surf lessons and and my kids and husband all "rode the waves". This condo was beautifully maintained and we would recommend it to anyone who wants all the comfort and advantages of home.

  We spent 23 very enjoyable days at the condo. The average day consisted of walks on the beach, snorkeling, sun bathing, or visiting the sights of Maui. The unit is centrally located for a perfect view of the beach and the open ocean. Being a ground floor unit allowed easy access to Kam I or II beaches. The days were sunny and the evenings as beautiful as I've ever seen. Much of my time was spent leasurely on the lanai. If you like to snorkel, many beautiful fish and turtles live in the water right out the front of the lanai. We spent many relaxing evenings on the roof. It has four barbecue units and several picnic tables. Overall it was one of the best vacations I've ever experienced and I'm hopeful that we can stay in the same unit on our next visit to Maui.

  Thanks Ellen for the use of your wonderful condo. It is in the great location and it is just as it is described in the listing. It worked perfectly for my husband and I and our 3 children. We loved every minute of our stay there. Everything is so close by......the 2 great beaches just steps away, the pool just steps off of the lanai and the shops and places to eat just behind the condo. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to be back again someday soon.

  Hi Ellen, We can't thank you enough for sharing your wonderful home with us. The ground floor location was so convenient, it was a great home base to work from. The condo was beautiful, and had everything we could have possibly thought of (and more!) to make our stay there amazing. My wife loved having her morning coffe on the lanai, watching turtles, whales and the occasional dolphin; my kids liked the pool and the big lawn; and I really liked the rooftop BBQ. What a view from up there! We toured around bit, and tried out some different beaches (Big Beach was the group favourite by far) and made it to the lava fields for the first time, which was pretty cool. Had to do the Old Lahaina Luau as well, for those of our bunch who hadn't been before. There really is no comparison between your home and any of the other places we have seen or stayed at in Maui. Thanks again for the great stay.

  My wife and our son were lucky enough to be able to stay in this beautiful condo for 16 days in October 2011. The location was excellent. The description and photos were spot on ! The condo was spacious, warm and so comfortable. You are just steps from the beach, the pool and beautiful grounds. The owner, Ellen, was absolutely wonderful to work with reserving the vacation. We will definitely be returning for our next family vacation !! Thank you Ellen !!

  Dear Ellen & Brick, A big Mahalo for sharing your fabulous hale with us. As you know, we’re back for our 40th anniversary, were here for our 35th in 112 also, and had a wonderful celebration with family, some local and friends. It’s so beautiful and peaceful to be on the ocean. Love the remodel – it’s really lovely! The window treatments really add privacy. Enjoyed a roof top cook out with the group. Nice re-do there too.   My two teen age sons, my wife and I went to Maui for my oldest sons wedding. While the wedding was something special, the one thing we will never forget was our stay at the Royal Mauian. I did so much research to pick the perfect condo and it paid off. this unit is without any question the best location at the Royal Mauian. It was like being at home. AC in every room, a great kitchen and the whole condo was decorated beautifully. The first floor with a lanai that opened directly into a beautiful garden grass area that was just just steps away from two beautiful beaches and the pool. Maui was great but this condo made it a trip that we will always remember. The condo owner is wonderful to deal with and I look forward to my next visit.

  Mahalo Ellen, We had such a wonderful week in your condo. It is so beautiful and the beaches are wonderful. We are about to leave tonight “I am so sad as we could stay here forever. My sons who are 18 and 20 had a wonderful time on the beach snorkeling, playing ball and doing gymnastic. My trumpet/horn player blew the conch at sunset in honor of Fred, who I see from this book blew it every evening. Thank you very much for allowing your beautiful home to be used by others.

  Hi Ellen, Wanted to tell you that we just got in and your place is just gorgeous! I would like to come here for a couple of weeks a year if we could afford it. Maybe if the stock market recovered :( We will be taking very good care of your home while we are here.   Mahalo Ellen, My 40th birthday girl’s surf vacation was a total success thanks to your wonderful home. The surf was flatness by Maui standards, but perfect for us girls to perfect the paddle, stand up, and turn. We watched beautiful sunsets from the lanai. Spectacular Hale!

  My girlfriends and I had a fabulous time at this Royal Mauian unit. It was rumored to be the best location in the complex and I agree. We had wonderful ocean views and views of Kamaole Beach. The unit has been remodelled. It is very contemporary and comfortable. The kitchen is chock full of cooking and serving ware that is very nice. The air conditioners are great. The owner includes beach chairs and towels and snorkel stuff. The location is perfect with lots of good eats and shopping right across the street. The grounds at Royal Mauian are well maintained, many Plumeria trees were in full bloom. We had great surf lessons with Maui Wave Riders just down the street. Snorkeling from the condo and other great spots a short drive away. Snorkel Bob's is right across the street for info and rentals. Whaler's General Store and ABC right across the street. The drive to Lahaina and West Maui is not too far. Ditto with the drive to Pai'a. The location is perfect to explore most of Maui. I will definitely stay here again and I would highly recommend it to my friends and family.

  (continuance of review) and experiencing worship service with hula and Hawaiian language/traditions,; seafood galore and just relaxing in the warmth, sun, sand between our toes! Warm ocean water!   (continuation of review) It was so relaxing, quiet and in the perfect location close to dad’s favorite restaurant Café O’Lei (we ate there 3 times), the delicious cinnamon bun store (dad’s favorite sweet treat) and our new favorite treat – shaved ice!!   This was the most wonderful place to spend “a last trip” with my father. Your condo is perfect! My dad, step mom and I enjoyed morning coffee/breakfast on the lanai – what a wonderful way to start the day with the ocean right in front of us! All meals and time spent out on the lanai was wonderful – the sunsets spectacular! We truly felt at home here.

  We’ve had a wonderful family vacation. The boys will have memories of warm ocean waters, first time snorkeling and their favorite shaved ice from across the street. We ate dinner one night at the Monkeypod and would definitely recommend it. If anyone is hungry for fish and chips or great fresh seafood check out Eskimo Candy. The best snorkel bay was Kapalua with a fantastic lunch spot within walking distance at the Seahouse restaurant. If you go between 2-5 they have an amazing pupu menu!

  This truly is one of the best condos. The location is ideal, front and center with no obstruction. Being able to just walk right out and onto the beach was also a big plus. The condo has been remodeled with special touches you won't find in most 'rentals'. The hot water heater was replaced with an instant heating system that not only saves energy, it cuts down on space! The pictures do not do justice to this place. Plantation shutters, ceiling sofets with added lighting, ceiling fans in every room, beautifully tiled bathroom showers, the list goes on. We stayed here with two small boys. Being able to let them run around the front lawn as we sat relaxing on the lanai not only helped burn off extra energy but enabled them to meet some great friends. We've stayed on higher floors and not only was the view not any better, it was actually noiser because you are at tree height and there are some very noisy birds in the mornings. The view from this ground level unit is one of the best in the entire complex. The rooftop garden is lovely as well and a great place to meet people. The weber gas bbq's work perfectly! We saw huge sea turtles every day on the rocks in front, enjoyed the beaches which are some of the best in Maui if you have small kids, and drove to Kapalua Bay for the best snorkeling. After snorkeling we drove the rest of the way around that end of the island which in itself was an experience. (check your car rental contract first, which is something we didn't do) The boys were thrilled to have a shaved ice place right across the street. There is a newly opened restaurant in Wailea called Monkeypod which we would recommend and if you just want true Hawaiin Poke or fish and chips check out Eskimo Candy. It's not big on ambiance but great on food and local feel. Also, if you make it to Kapalua Bay to snorkel, there is a very good restaurant you can walk to facing Napili Bay called the SeaHouse Restaurant. Overall I can't say enough about this place. The owner and manager both were very communicative and helpful. This is definitely our first pick of places to stay on Maui and we'd recommend it to all our friends, except then we'd never find an opening! (just kidding) You really can't do better than this.   The Aloha Spirit resides in #112 at the Royal Mauian, and everyone who visits feels it from the moment they cross the threshold! Mahalo for sharing your home with our family. The location is perfect, the beaches are perfect, the pool is perfect and the condo was beyond our expectations. We had a wonderful two weeks, and know that we’ll be back!

  The Aloha Spirit lives in this unit of the Royal Mauian, and it envelopes you from the moment you walk in the door. Previous reviewers have eloquently described this condo's accoutrements and there is no need to say more (it is beautiful!), and mere words cannot describe its ambiance - you have to experience it! Our family felt truly at ease and at home, and our busy lives were put aside for the two weeks that we stayed in this lovely property. Its location is superb, and our children, ages 13 and 15, enjoyed independence going from beach to beach to pool, their own room (and TV) and exploring the shops across the street. We made good use of the roof top garden and its grills, rarely eating out. The covered lanai was an oasis - we will miss the sunsets and our evening cocktail. A word of caution, though, the lovely grounds are for strolling on, not for tossing a ball, or playing games, as we learned from cranky neighbors. Maui Adventure Rafting and Flyn' Hawaiian Zipline are highly recommended! We unanimously agreed that this was our best ever family vacation, in the nicest of properties, on the most beautiful island, and know that Maui is Magic. Thank you, Ellen, for opening your home to us.

  This has been such a special week for our family! The beaches are perfect, and the pool has been a dream. It’s been so fun watching our children learn to swim here!   If you are searching for a place to stay in Kihei, then end your search now and book this unit! It was a beautiful condo, a perfect location, and within walking distance of three beautiful beaches. First, the condo. It is immaculate, updated, and clearly a family home. We were especially enamored with the walk in showers and gorgeous tile work. The galley-style kitchen is loaded with more than you could ever imagine - dishes, utensils, storage containers, bakeware, mixers, coffee maker, blender... it is unreal. There are 3 flat screen televisions in the unit, and plenty of closet/drawer space to unpack for your stay (which is sure to be far too short!)). We were also thrilled that there were sand toys, beach chairs, scuba masks, balls, body boards, small coolers, and other miscellaneous items to borrow. In addition, there were several decks of cards, games, and books. The owners allow renters to leave non-perishable items in the unit, so there were even some spices, oils, Ziplocs, aluminum foil, cleaners, etc. on hand. (We stayed in another VRBO unit where we were required to dispose of all items, which felt so wasteful.) Next, the location. Absolutely perfect! Right off the lanai is a gorgeous lawn, where our children were able to frolic and play. It was as if we had extra square footage to our unit, because the lawn is so amazing. If you exit the lanai, you can walk right to Kamaole Beach I - where we played daily. When you exit the lanai to the left, you will walk past the warm, oceanside pool before heading down to Kamaole Beach II and III. These beaches made for excellent morning strolls. We saw whales and turtles daily from lanai during our March 2011 visit. Directly across the street from the Royal Mauian you will find everything you could possibly need: restaurants, ABC store, snorkel rental, ice cream parlor, gift shops, and more. The owner and property manager are incredibly organized and accommodating. If you have questions, you can count on Ellen to respond very quickly. Cindi, the local property manager, is clearly dedicated. We happened to be in Maui when the earthquake in Japan caused a tsunami warning for all Hawaiian islands. Amidst her own evacuation, Cindi called to make sure we knew about the tsunami and where to evacuate.. Ellen contacted us as well. We felt that their level of service and assistance was above and beyond. We are so grateful to have found this unit. Mahaolo for sharing your home!

  Hi Ellen, I just wanted to let you know what a great time we had at the condo during our vacation. Hopefully everything was left in it's place and as it should be. I had some time on Saturday before we left in the evening so I was able to wash all the towels and the sheets and leave them for the housekeeper. The condo is beautifully decorated and wonderfully equipped with everything we needed and worked very well for our family. I would have to say the location of the unit is probably the best in the building being on the ground floor, away from the road, close to the pool and sun was beautiful on the lanai in the afternoons. I was hoping to book again for Christmas this year but alas I see you've already rented it. If for some reason you have a cancellation be sure to let me know as we'd love stay again.   What a wonderful stay we had at Fred and Brick's Condo! We have stayed at the Royal Mauian three times now and this one was was far and away the best unit. You have to know the family to appreciate how beautifully decorated, appointed and stocked this unit is. Brick always has had immaculate homes and this is obviously one of her homes that she is sharing with us. The recent remodel is complete and fabulous. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail in the woodwork throughout and especially the kitchen and bath remodels. The AC is a nice touch, although rarely necessary in the winter. Brick's style and attention to detail also is apparent in the quality of furniture, beds and appliances. Nothing but the best! Location, location, location is vitally important: Not only is the location of the unit, center ground floor perfect, but the location on the Keihi beach is optimum. Obviously Fred and Brick did some carefuly research before they chose this location and this unit. Most people don't even think about where the sun is setting. (Is it setting over another island or into the ocean.) We purists expect to gaze upon the gorgeous setting sun as it disappears peacefully into the ocean... This unit is perfectly situated to watch the sun go down north of one island and south of the other. Who would have thought? We absolutely loved it. Boy did we shoot a lot of pictures! Maui is the best. Royal Mauian is the Best. Brick Suhler's home is the best. The unit is a tribute to Fred Suhler. We sure do miss him! We guarantee that you will love your stay here!

  The snorkeling at Aihii Reserve was the best and my youngest son did his first scuba dive with Lisa Hurkowsky, the recent write-in senator from Alaska. Maui Dreams Dive Company was great and is highly recommended. We enjoyed playing Rummy Tile in the evenings and when we discovered it was a Unit #112 tradition to blow the couch shell at sunset, my older son (who is aspiring jazz saxophonist) felt he needed to honor that tradition and blow that couch shell loud and long!

  This is not your regular rental property, it is a vacation home and you will know it the minute you walk in. It is a very well-maintained, upgraded unit with everything you need for a wonderful stay in Maui. The photos and description are exactly you see and the owner is great and easy to work with. We took full advantage of the well stocked kitchen and rooftop grills, enjoying dining on the lanai in front of the ocean. There are several games available, such as backgammon, checkers, cards and our new family favorite, tile rummy. A natural food store is directly across the street, as well as Snorkel Bob's and the tacos at Maui Taco were delicious. I would highly recommend this property to anyone planning a trip to Maui, we can't wait to go back!

  We just returned from our stay in this condo, we loved it! The location is fabulous, the condo is more than comfortable and has a kitchen stocked with all the tools to enjoy meals on the lanai in the evening. The view is spectacular, with easy walks to Kam I & II beaches, shopping, restaurants .... we couldn't have asked for more! The owners responded quickly to our questions, and followed up with us during our visit to insure all was going well. We definitely plan on returning. :)

  We loved this place! Travelled with another family staying on the 5th floor and they spent all of their time in our condo. The feel is vacation homey and the view is spectacular. Walk out to the left or right to two great beaches. The property was very clean and well-maintained and the owner was very responsive in answering questions.

  Because of the volcano in Europe, we quickly made Maui our "back up plan." Thanks to Ellen for quickly responding to our emails and letting us stay here. We loved being in this location - saw a few whales, and turtles every night right out in front. Blew the conch shells the last night we were here - had a lot of neighbors stop by to ask if we were Suhlers. Alas! Just for two weeks! Hope to be back. The Cole Family

  Aloha Ellen! We have stayed many times at the Royal Mauian always in this unit. Quite simply the best located unit on the property! Two beautiful beaches with easy access on either side of the property, make for a great vacation spot. Hard not to notice the Humpback Whales as they play right out in front of the condo! Absolutely beautiful! Turtles too! The Royal Mauian has beautifully maintained grounds with a great flat grass lawn area right on the ocean, right on the ocean! The unit is always clean and well maintained. The remodel is wonderful. Great kitchen area, nice tile floors, two walk in showers, A/C, ceiling fans, W/D and three flat screen T.V.'s! Along with the great views from the lanai, is the BBQ area on the roof top with great panoramic views with ample seating for family gatherings. Mahalo for letting us use your family's vacation home!
