Featured Destination- Ft. Fisher State Recreation Area (less than two miles south of property),
'Fort Fisher provides a glimpse of the dynamic ecosystem known as a barrier spit where the only constant is change. Sixteen threatened and endangered species can be found at Fort Fisher depending on the time of year. Loggerhead sea turtles nest on ocean beaches in the warmer months and terns, plovers, and oystercatchers use bare sandy areas from the beach to the salt marsh for nesting and foraging. Vast Spartina salt marshes, one of the most productive ecosytems on earth, provide food and shelter for fish and shellfish and shorebirds. Fall brings migrations of warblers, hawks, and peregrine falcons. Winter brings many species of ducks to the marshes. Storms constantly rearrange the landscape, overwashing dunes, opening and closing inlets and channels, and changing the shape of the beach. Native wildlife at Fort Fisher depends on this constant environmental change to maintain the habitat that it requires.'

Wonderful apartment, great location, quiet and authentic beach community
Wonderful apartment, great location, quiet and authentic beach community

This apartment is fantastic. It's tasteful, and has everything you need, up to and including a little red wagon to bring everything to the beach. A lot of beach rentals feel like they're braced for a frat party, but this one is tastefully set up, well cared for, and intended for families with kids. Even our visitors commented on how luxurious the apartment seemed. The owner is remarkably responsive. We stayed a full month, and when problems came up they were resolved quickly and perfectly. The location is great. The beach is a 3-minute walk away, and another three minute walk takes you to the "Food, Drink, Bait and Tackle" store where you can buy snacks and emergency supplies. Get in the car and within ten minutes you'll be able to go to the civil war battlefield, the aquarium, two national parks, several playgrounds, the Southport ferry (great for kids!), the pier, lots of restaurants and ice cream shops, the Food Lion, Walgreens, and whatever else you need. Kure Beach is a wonderfully small and authentic beach community. There is one traffic light and two bars. Children play in the streets. Cars stop for pedestrians. Bicycles are left unlocked in the carports. The beach itself is clean and strikingly beautiful. The pier has local fisherman. Carolina Beach, just to the North, is bigger and has a little more to offer, but it can feel like a bunch of snowbird condos surrounding a State fair. We came from overseas, and stayed a month. I'll add that the greater "Cape Fear" region is wonderfully historic. Sailors and whalers date the place back to the 1500's, and Wilmington was a major Civil War port. At the same time it has everything a modern metropolitan region should have: a commercial airport, shopping and restaurants, museums, and more. They even have a minor league baseball team, the Sharks. Note that you'll need a car. To most Americans this probably is obvious, but those looking for a pedestrian friendly beach community should note this. We have recommended Kure Beach area as well as this particular rental to many of our friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had a lovely time staying at this home while on a family vacation (4 adults, 4 children). The home is beautifully furnished- truly! Surprising to find such a gorgeous interior so close to the beach. The owner has impeccable taste in design which makes the place a joy to call home. The house is absolutely clean and has everything you need (linens, washer, dryer, cable tv with HBO, playstation, dishwasher, etc). There is room for four adults (two in the master suite, and two in the guest bedroom) and four children (the kids room has a bunkbed with a pull out trundle underneath--perfect for three children--the master suite is quite large and easily accommodates a pack and play type bed). The walk-in closet is huge and our family actually put the pack and play in there- it made for a fine space for the 2 year old to nap in. The dining room table is centrally located and it made for some great games of monopoly (the owner has a great collection of games and children's books)-- while the porch, with its 4 rocking chairs, provided us with a perfect place to gather and chat after the kids were in bed. The owner is wonderfully responsive as well. We had a problem with the TV during our stay- and she took care of it immediately. It should be noted that this unit is on stilts (causes a tiny bit of swaying- just as all units like this would) and is the first of a two story. The family who lives upstairs have young children and a dog who you can hear running back and forth from time to time, but we got used to that quickly. The wonderful interior is so welcoming, it distracts you from any noises. The location is ideal- just a block (and easy walking distance) from the beach-- and the owner is kind enough to lend her beach supplies (chairs, boogie boards, a wagon) to her renters. We had many family members renting surrounding homes for our big family vacation - and our house was the talk of the town! Because of its beauty, cleanliness and decor, everyone wished they were staying at this house over the others. You won't be disappointed by this home- and we look forward to returning to it next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We had a great time at this house! It was clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. It was a short walk to the beach. Libby was friendly and checked in on us to make sure everything was going well. We appreciated the fact that we could rent the house for a few days midweek instead of staying the whole week. We would definitely consider staying here again!Recommended for: Families with young children.

This property was AWESOME!!! The condo was very impressive, CLEAN and beautifully decorated. My family didn't want to leave. Very convenient to the beach and close to great restuarants and shopping. The balcony was an added bonus, you can see and hear the ocean, very relaxing. My family and I always take trip to Wilmington area during the July 4th holiday to enjoy the fireworks over the river and spend time on the beach. This rental was wonderful for all of us to come together, go to beach, cook lunches and dinners together and head to Wilmington on the 4th. The spacious living room/dining area/kitchen was great place for hanging out. It was very nice to stay at beach rental that is so clean and immaculately decorated plus having beach chairs, wagon, boogy boards on site was great. It was also very nice not to worry about clean-up at the end of vacation since that is built into rental cost. I would recommend this to anyone looking for nice 3 bedroom/2 bath.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We are thrilled that you decided to stay at our beach house for your annual July 4th family vacation. Thanks for the great review. We hope to have you again next year!

My family and I loved staying at this place! It is clean, quiet and very comfortable with easy walking access to the beach and restaurants in Kure beach. The front porch is a great, shaded place to sit during the times when one is not at the beach. The beach itself is beautiful. In addition, it is a short car ride to Fort Fischer, the NC Aquarium and Carolina Beach, providing terrific alternatives to the beach if the weather is not good or if some members of the family have had enough of the sun. We will definitely return!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We are glad you had a great time and found the accomodations up to your satisfaction. We hope that you and your family return soon!

What a beautiful place! Upon walking in the property, we were stunned! This rental property is decorated better than our house! The property is two streets away from the beach, but an easy walk to the oceanfront. Being off the main street was actually a great thing. It was quiet and peaceful and with the provided wagon to carry all of our stuff to the beach, it was no issue. Sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs was one of the most relaxing parts of our trip. This home was the best rental home we have stayed at. Top notch all the way - beautiful, modern, professionally decorated and clean! Would recommend to anyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind words. We are extremely excited that you and your family had a great time. We pride ourselves in providing a quality vacation experience for our guests. Please come back and stay with us soon!
