Chester is one of Atlantic Canada's most picturesque seaside villages, surrounded by islands. The Baker House nestles on a quiet, tree lined street in the village. Built by Harry Baker in 1916, the home welcomes you, your family, and friends to relax and reconnect over spirited games in the garden, or splashing in the pool. Cook local foods together from the Chester Farmers Market, and have a night out at the Chester Theatre and one of the village's restaurants.
The house is charmingly decorated with art and colourful furnishings. All five bedrooms are large and airy. Downstairs, a book and video library, games collection, a Jotul fireplace, sofas in various rooms, will melt the fatigue from your bones. Suntan on the patios, or read in the shade of the vine covered pergola.
A short stroll will take you to the village centre where you can munch on lobster sandwiches while counting sailboats. Every day is different because of art openings, sail boat races, childrens' activities, a festival or two, shopping for art glass or a sundress.
Back home at sunset, create your own Chester martini, settle in on the veranda, discuss world affairs if you must, but I assure you, where ever you hail from, when you enter this house you will know peace. And when you leave, you will take memories to last .... until next year's return.

The Baker House is a truly amazing summer experience. From the necessities that you need when you travel to the luxuries that you desire when you vacation - everything is sublime. Shelli, the property manager, is incredible in her attention to detail and overall accommodating nature. Our family was there for one week and we were sad to leave. Privacy, perks and central, within Chester - we highly recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1985
About the owner: My husband is in the seafood business and I am an artist. We both grew up close to cities, and dreamt of owning a place in the country. I love to garden, my husband loves to tinker on his antique cars. Our sons spent all of their summers growing up in Chester and remain deeply connected to the friends they made here.
Why the Owner Chose Chester:
Chester is a charming hamlet that offered peaceful summers, but also many activities to deepen our bond to the community. Chester is only 40 minutes from Halifax, and 60 minutes from the airport. We both love the sea, and we wanted our children to have summers that were safe and filled with outdoor activities.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Baker House is more than a cottage, it is a home. Although close to a century old, it has been updated with modern conveniences, so one gets the best of both worlds. Close to everything locally, yet when you pass through the garden gate, the world is left behind, and peace reigns.
