  We had a great time here! Literally across the street from the beach, we could hear the waves at night out our window. This place as lots of character and is super comfortable. Logistics were easy as well!

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.

  "Quiet and comfortable steps from the Pacific" Spent ten days here in early august, with my wife and our three teenagers, and my sister-in-law and her two teenagers. We fit perfectly, and gave the large upstairs bedroom and full bathroom entirely to the teens. We had great meals on the barbecue, and swam every day (I was up at dawn to begin each day with a quick dip). the Malibu beaches are barely 45 minutes to the south, and Santa Barbara an hour to the north. Within two days we were all completely relaxed. The house is indeed a rustic beach shack on the outside, but has every modern convenience inside. The beach is clean and there are no crowds. Oxnard has everything you need. Highly, highly recommended by all of us.

  I stayed at the Hollywood Beach Shack in July, 2011. It was a perfect place for 4 women to retreat. We took full advantage of the beach that was litterally 20 steps away. We loved the "quirky" design of the house and all of the decor. For the price for a week and splitting the cost 4 ways, it was a total bargain. Do stop in at Mrs. Olsen's Cafe as they tell you to. You will not be disappointed.

  We had an excellent week in Oxnard: relaxing/sunny/surfing, What else do you need with your family? We liked the house , especially the second floor for our Girls.   My family loved staying at the Hollywood Beach Shack. We were close to family in Oxnard and loved the beach access! It accommodated our family of 4 + cousins well and the kids loved the loft beds and upstairs area. So close to all the activities & restaurants at Channel Islands Harbor too Thank you!

  The Hollywood Beach Shack is an incredible place to spend your holiday. We have had a wonderful stay in this unique house. It is spacious, very nicely decorated and fully equipped to fulfill all your needs. We especially liked the outdoor shower and the location on the brink of the Pacific Ocean. The rental process, e-mail correspondence and money transaction with was very good, and we experienced no problems whatsoever. On the day of our departure, we were even allowed to stay a little longer to facilitate coordination with our flight back home. If we go to California again (and we hope to…), a stay in Hollywood Beach Shack is mandatory! Best regards, Magnus (7), Lukas (12), Niklas (16), Henriette and Morten (too old to be mentioned….).   Our family stayed eleven days in August and truly enjoyed our overall experience. We have four teenage girls and having easy and safe access to the beach was a joy for all of us. The beach was awesome and very peaceful as not many local folks head to this spot. The pictures and description are accurate and the “shack” has everything you need to make some home cooked meals, or if you want access to other conveniences, they are within ten minutes. The “shack” is very unique and learning about the history of the home made us appreciate it even further. If you are looking at something out of the ordinary, more rustic, with some more secluded beach time, it would be worth your while to look at the “shack”. I know are girls are already asking us when we can go back!

  "My family and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hollywood Beach Shack for Memorial weekend. My kids love the place, the house is so unique and adorable. My daughter took pictures of the house and couldn't wait to show it to her friends. The location was perfect, just steps from the sand. And the beach is so clean and not crowded at all. My daughter had a wonderful time looking for glass rock and my 14 months old son had a blast playing in the sand. Wish our stay was longer, will try to come back again. Thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful home. Mylinh

  I was fortunate enough to be able to stay at this lovely house. In a > world of sterile modern cookie cutter houses, it was amazing to stay > at this beautiful, unique and historic house built when Hollywood was > young. I went there to get some writing done and every day was > inspired. I would sit in the upstairs room with a view of the ocean > and my laptop and the fresh ocean air would make me feel so good. The > owners did a number of tasteful updates to the house that added to the > charm. I cooked some delicious meals in the giant kitchen. Most > everything I needed was in walking distance including some very nice > restaurants. Most importantly every day I would spend time on the > beach which during the week was tranquil and uncrowded. Also, let me > add if you have kids, the interesting architecture filled with little > nooks and crannies for them to hide or sleep will seem like a magical > castle to them. A wonderful place!
