  My wife and I and a variety of family members had a wonderful time staying at Island Cabana. The house is barely 50 yards from the beach, an easy walk, with nice views of the Gulf. It is in excellent condition, with powered shutters, a TV in every room (satellite big screen TV in the main room), dry covered parking for 3 cars, 3 bedrooms (including a second floor master bedroom.) It has a small yard that our dogs liked. Over 30 days we have a variety of friends and family members visit, so we cooked meals, planned Galveston trips, watch the gulf in all sorts of weather, and generally had a great time! We hope to go back. We had four generations of family members visit us. The stairs are protected from the elements and the outdoor areas have good lighting, convenient for both my mother and mother-in-law. The owners are prompt to answer email and are truly dog friendly--it was a pleasure to rent from them! We walked the beach every day, even when it rained. My mother (86 years old!) walked the beach every morning. One day I walked from Jamaica Beach to the Island Cabana house (5 miles) and another day I walked the beach west to the end of the island (6-7 miles.) Other days we ate at Nate's West End in Jamaica Beach, visited the Moody Gardens, Moody Mansion, Bishop's Palace or took the ferry over to the Bolivar Peninsula.

  This was the best vacation we have had in a very long time thanks to Bob and Jane. They accommodated very whim we had. We stayed a month and it was just like home. The house is so comfortable . The openness of the house gave us the benefit of the wonderful Galveston days this time of the year. The yard for our little dogs was perfect. Bob and Jane saw to it that it was mowed regularly because our least dog won't go out in grass that isnt short. We found everything as shown and even better. Not being directly on the beach was a plus because we did not have to fight the sand as in the past. It is only a few extra steps to the beach. Everything was clean and ready to use when we arrived. The covered, paved parking is great for the rainy days. The beds were very comfortable. The washer/dryer were top of the line. The stove had a convection oven. The beach is clean and not too busy. The neighbors we met were great. The fishing was good just a few yards from the house. We will definitely go back because of Bob and Jane. They are the ideal hosts.

  We had our whole family stay during our two weeks at this great place. The amazing thing was how well laid out the bedrooms are. We had people who stayed up late and other people who went to bed early and no one had problems with noise. The furniture on the deck was great! WOuld definitely rent this place again!

  We LOVED this house! Everything about it is perfect. We had two families on this vacation and there was ample space for everyone. We especially loved the deck space. Most of our time was spent outside enjoying the beach and the pool. We grilled at night and roasted marshmallows. This was the best Galveston vacation ever!. Thanks so much. We will be back next year!

  We really liked this house, and the owner did a great job communicating with us, even leaving cute little notes throughout the home so we knew what to do. VERY close to the beach and loved the balcony with the ocean air. We traveled up to Galveston and went to Schlitterbahn waterpark, the Spot on the Seawall, and lots of other sightseeing adventures. Only downsides are the buggies, and there was lots of seaweed on the beach, but that is everywhere in Galveston and just goes with the territory. We had a LOVELY time and would highly recommend the Island Cabana for anyone's family trip!

  Absolutely wonderful house. Full of amenities: hairdryers, blender, beach toys. The owners were a pleasure to work with: provided lots of maps, directions and information. Excellent communication with us, answered our questions promptly.. Only problems were the mosquitoes which hatched four days after we got there but people just need to bring lots of bug spray. I'd recommend this house and this rental company unreservedly. Susan Dykstra Seattle, Washington

  I can't say enough good things about this house and all the amenities! The beds are great, and there are plenty of them. Having two and 1/2 baths is a big help, and the showers were great. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a great blender that grinds ice quickly for slushies! We loved the decks (again - ample furniture) and being able to have coffee outside whilst watching the waves. The house is very close to the beach, and easy to find from the main road. The washer and dryer work great, the fridge is plenty large to hold LOTS of food, and the shutters on the window are so nice at night (AND when the storm came in!) It's also good to know that the houses are closely watched - at least during spring break. I walked outside at 2:00 AM, as my son had called and was trying to find the house. I was outside of the house about one minute and a sheriff pulled up to ask if everything was ok! Talk about make me feel safe! If you are looking for places to eat in Galveston and like Bar B Que - check out Leon's on Broadway. Great food, and good company! Strike up a conversation - there's all kinds of people who love to talk there! We also hit our previous favorites of Tortugas (fresh guacamole made at the table), Gaido's, Fisherman's Wharf, and checked out Nick's by the grocery store (about 4 miles from the house.) I would recommend this house to anyone! The hosts gave plenty of helpful instructions, were very easy to work with, and are very thoughtful hosts in providing so carefully for the guests.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Island Cabana. The kitchen well stocked and user friendly. We only ate out one time! (Shrimp & Stuff which is great, check it out. 39th Blvd & Ave.O) The house is beautiful, very clean and everything worked like a dream. We had a few days of rain forcing the kids inside and it was still very comfortable. Nice big TV kept them entertained. The owners are very accomodating and friendly. We will definitely be back and recommend it to our friends.

  We had a spectacular time, the "Island Cabana" was clean and well stocked. Everything we ever could and have wanted and more!! The pictures do not do the home justice! There was so much to do, we are ready to go back to do it! The little ones played in the sun, the water, collected sea shells, driftwood, and hermit crabs and brought home memreasure trove of memories. The teens and young adults enjoyed the beach as well as the islands night life. O'Malleys pub was a great place to play pool and have a few adult spirits! The old people(as we are referred to) enjoyed sunbathing on the decks, sipping our wine on the decks beneath the stars each night and dinner at Gaidos!! We also enjoyed the Strand, our visit to the Flight Museum, and as always Galvestons welcoming spirit(the people)!!!

  I would like to thank the owners of this home for renting this property to my friends and me for the weekend. I truly felt at home and felt as comfortable as if I had been to this house a hundred times. The Kitchen has everything you would need in order to cook we never ate out. Entertainment system with suround sound was crisp and clear. Air conditioning worked too perfect! We had the convenience of the outdoor bathroom and shower. The Beach so close you could say it is practically at your back door and could walk to it with ease. There is so much more I would like to add but there isn't enough room in this box. LOL I would recommend this house to any family or group of friends wanting a relaxing fun time at the beach in the Galveston, Jamaica Beach area!
