  My husband and I spent a week at Water's Edge and the only negative I have to say is that even though it was nice to get home to our animals, it was extremely difficult to leave such a beautiful place. As mentioned before, the water is fantastic (although remember that this is a shallow lake so right off the dock itself can be a little seaweedy - no biggie if you paddle out farther), the bedroom with all the windows is just divine - we spent some morning just laying in bed drinking coffee and listening to the waves lap against the dock). We didn't leave the cottage all that much but when we did it was to go to a couple of winetastings (McGregor's and Bully Hill were particular favorites). There's a great farm market right down the road on the way back into Penn Yan (on the left, Big Indian something maybe) and we dined on fresh veggies from there as well as the most insanely good meats from Morgan's (just keep going straight through town on Elm Street, it's on your left just past the railroad tracks) - skipped the "Tops" supermarket altogether. And if you're interested in some really great beers, believe it or not, the Sunoco gas station right in town has growlers for sale as well as a really extensive selection of IPAs,, etc. There's also a great shop (Pinwheel) on Main Street that features hand crafted goods and homemade yummies - they are non profit and all proceeds go to the food bank so the area children can have meals during the weekend. But no matter where we went, at the end of the day we were back at the paradise known as Water's Edge - I know people like to fish right off the dock but I hope no one caught Fernando - he was about a foot or so long and kept us company during the morning hours :)

  We decided on a Fingerlakes trip just a few days before leaving, and found this place available. What a great find! Literally on the water, you fall asleep and awake to the sound of the waves lapping the shoreline. There's a great place just a few hundred yards north at Keuka College to launch your kayaks, if you bring them, and a great place for ice cream just a mile or so north by car. Kids enjoyed fishing off the dock as well, and we all enjoyed S'mores in the firepit. Great compact place for a family getaway.

• Paradise!

  My husband and I drove up from Ohio to stay at The Water's Edge for our 10th wedding anniversary. When we arrived and saw the gorgeous view, we just could not believe it. It was wonderful. The cottage is quaint and cute, and cozy for a romantic stay. We spent a lot of time just out on the deck sitting at the table with our coffee or wine, or at the end of the dock with our feet in the lake. The water was a little chilly, but I wore a half wetsuit, and it was great! The weather was perfect!!! Sunny, and beautiful. And even if you are not a morning person, it is worth it to wake up just before dawn to see the gorgeous sunrise. The lake is clean and clear, and it's fun to watch all the things going on on the lake. We rented a canoe, and the company--Reagan's Livery I think--delivered it all the way down to the water. That bedroom with all the windows overlooking the lake was so incredible. We had a nice breeze coming in thru the windows, and the sound of the lake lulled us to sleep at night. Heaven!!! We also went around Keuka and Seneca to visit some of the local wineries. Keuka Spring was really nice! We really hope to be back. We have two small boys who are very active, and this was like paradise for us. The layout of this cottage is perfect for a quiet, relaxing time. My husband and I felt like we were able to go sit by the lake, and just talk. Highly recommended!!! Thank you to the owners for sharing for your wonderful place!!

  This was our second year staying here, and my husband and I love it. The location is unbeatable! We swam right off the dock everyday, road our bikes into Penn Yan, and also on the Outlet Trail over to Seneca Lake. So convenient, yet a very quiet and private setting. We did bring our own lamp for reading at the sofa at night--that's about the only thing lacking. The owner was very helpful and accessible via email. Cottage was clean when we arrived.

  I stayed the second week of August with my husband, daughter and her friend. We had a fabulous time boating, kayaking and swimming in the crystal clear water of Keuka. The cottage is right on the water so we were lulled to sleep by the gentle crashing waves and woke up to brilliant sunrises! We sat out on the deck every day for meals. It is also very close to the town of Keuka where we were able to restock our supplies and get a home cooked meal, do some antiquing and buy postcards. This was the best vacation yet! Looking forward to coming back to Water's Edge next year.

  Overall experience was very good to excellent. HOWEVER. We had a very difficult time finding the cottage. 911changed the addresses, the owner did not notify us of the change. The owner provides in the contract a detailed 'check out cleaning list' , the previous renters were lax in this and the owners cleaning crew did not clean either. There was dry ?? in the crisper of the refrigerator,on the trash can, coffee grounds in the trash can, floors were not vacuumed, dust under the bureaus, cobwebs and spiders every where on the deck, chairs , window screens. Needless to say it took two hours of cleaning before we could relax and enjoy. The owner in contract will charge you $100-$150 for the cleaning service but only reimbursed us $50.

  My husband and I recently stayed at "Waters Edge" and it literally is that..on the waters edge. I loved hearing the water hit the rocks below the master bedroom at night. The home was centrally located in the finger lakes and we took advantage of both the wineries and hiking. The lake views from the house are beautiful and the stars at night were amazing. I would definately stay again when visiting the area and it would make a great place for a "girls weekend".
