TIPS FOR RENTERS:
Ask: How close is the neighbor?
Is the beach rocky? Seaweedy?
Are there any extra charges?
Baby fine shale?
How much land is the house on?
Are you on town sewer & water?
Can we use the boats? Which ones?
Can we bring extra people?
How far is the nearest town?
504 East Lake Road offers the discriminating renter so much more than just a cottage on the lake. The five acre property with over 100 feet of beach, level lawns, woods and a wonderful creek to hike, is a rare treat on Keuka Lake. It simply doesn’t exist anymore, except here at this address on the very desirable Lower East Lake Road on Hewitt's Point.
BEACH: Level and deep set, offering guests a chance to experience the most beautiful baby-fine shale in the Finger Lakes. The long dock provides space for a boat or two and has a set of stairs on the end of the dock to make it easy to get in and out of the lake. No stay would be complete without a soul-stirring bonfire to cook marshmallows over while you sip a cocktail in the beach cabana and watch the sun set into the folds of hills. (firewood provided). Horseshoes provided!
BOATS: You have the use of the rowboat, two-person kayak, sunfish (for experienced sailors) snorkeling equipment (adult sizes) and various beach toys for kids.
HOUSE: A year round home with three bedrooms, plus a loft and two full bathrooms…one with a bathtub/shower combo, one with a shower only. (plus public water and sewer). Our home is comfortably furnished with newer pieces mixed with antiques and an eclectic art collection. The beds are excellent! (two kings, one queen, one full). All linens provided and we have extra blankets and pillows.
GAMES: The antique armoire in the family room is home to a great collection of games and toys for all ages. In the upstairs loft, another toy chest with toys for the younger set awaits. The loft is ‘fenced in’ with white lattice to give it privacy and security, but also to let the little kids ‘spy’ on the adults while they play with their own toys. It’s a fun spot for them to feel separate and yet still be close.
Outside, lots of opportunities exist for badminton, volleyball, bocci, baseball, and even kick the can. (toys provided) Catch fireflies in a jar, or just lie on your back at night to see the clear view of the Milky Way. There is also a ZIP LINE to ‘fly’ from one tree to another (lightweights only!) This is to be used ONLY with adult supervision.
The kitchen is modern, nicely outfitted and home to a very large kitchen table which seats ten. Just outside on the porch, an outdoor dinning table awaits. A deep-set covered front porch turns into a wraparound porch from which you can view the lake and the yard leading to the woods. The porch has ample seating on wicker furniture out front and a long cushioned church bench on the side. Another deck with wicker seating is attached to the front bedroom. Private and relaxing.
We hope you’ll relax at 504 East Lake Road and make it your home during your stay. You, and your kids if you bring them, will love the water but also have a wonderful time exploring the woods and creek looking for frogs and salamanders. The lake...the lawn...the woods...the creek...it's all here. And it really does have a magical ability to restore you.

We had an amazing weekend family getaway at this wonderful home. My four kids loved the zipline, badmitton, huge lawn and exploring in the woods. We all loved the lake and I couldn't get the kids or our lab out of it. We were lucky to have warm weather and the lake is very clean with a great beach area. Bring water shoes as it is rocky, but we loved the gradual entry especially for my little ones. We rented a boat from a local marina and took the kids tubing and explored the lake. Each night we made s'mores around the fire by the lake. Keuka Springs winery was beautiful and the owners opened up the store while they were having a private family cookout just for us. The wine is highly recommended. Mary is so helpful and went out of her way to answer my questions. She even had fresh flowers in the house when we arrived. Overall, house is comfortable and clean and doesn't feel like a rental. When we arrived home my three year old cried because he wanted to go back to "the lake house".Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Renee! Nothing makes me happier than hearing kids refer to this place as their lake house! It really becomes a part of you when you are here. We do have a list of wineries and restaurants that we love to reccommend and great things to do in the area. Beach shoes are a great idea once you get out into the water, but the shale on the beach is very fine and easy on the feet....like sand but it does not stick to you. So happy you all had a great time. Mary

We spent the most relaxing and romantic New Year's yet! Being here was therapy for the mind and soul - especially when you're from the hustle and bustle of New York City! Even our dogs were able to connect to nature (and their inner little hunters) running around your incredible back yard!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We loved sooo many features.....especially the view of the lake, the house, the comfortable beds, bocce ball and the dinner bell. We enjoyed each morning on the porch drinking coffee and each evening drinking wine from Rooster Hill Winery (walking distance from you...wonderful!) The beach was fun and we spent most of our time there. The baby slept most of the time and found great relaxation listening to the lake waves. Simba (our dog) loved the water, playing fetch and swimming. The sunsets were beautiful, breathtaking....as were the star-filled nights while we gathered around the bon fire.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

The zip line was a kid favorite! Had friends come down and all raved about the beautiful setting. Great card games on the porch and several mutiple family game nights. Mad Gab was a hit! Wake boarding, knee boarding, tubing, skiing, running, biking.....inspiring!...we did it all. A wonderful vacation for all of us! Thank you!!Did you find this review helpful? Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: We both grew up on Keuka Lake, attended Penn Yan Academy and moved onto the rest of the world for the next thirty years. We have always kept a home on the lake. Once you visit, you'll understand why! We both have a deep love and respect for the natural beauty that surrounds our home, the lake and the entire Finger Lakes Region. It is a very special piece of the planet.
Why the Owner Chose Penn Yan:
We love the Keuka Lake area....it can be action packed and stimulating or quiet, private and restorative. You choose how you want to be here.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love being surrounded by nature. There is nothing quite as wonderful as waking up and seeing that magnificent lake greet you each morning. It changes every day. It's alive and organic and CLEAN! Summer's are so much fun swimming, skiing, sailing, kayaking, crusiing, dinning out, walking, biking, winery touring....
Then Fall arrives and takes your breath away. Warm water, cool nights and the most colorful palate imaginable everywhere you look. Fall harvest wine tours, dinners out, and long walks fill the weekends. It's all so beautiful it almost hurts.
Winter is a cozy, quiet time to get out to enjoy the skiing and ice boating....or just snuggle up to a great book or a really wonderful movie by the fire.
Spring springs! You can actually feel the earth start to heave a very deep breath and shed its quiet outer layer. The birds and buds pop, you dust off your bike and take as many rides as possible with a huge grin on your face. There simply is not a bad time of year here. It's all wonderful!
