Come enjoy this Central Austin Urban Retreat near Downtown, featuring 1940s charm and 21st century sophistication!
Located in a quiet Central Austin neighborhood close to Downtown, the house is a 5 to 10 minute taxi ride or 15 to 20 minute bus ride to Downtown. Guests love gathering around the kitchen island, and the fire pit on the stone patio. Sleeping accommodations include one king bed, one queen bed and two queen sleeper sofas. Twin air beds are available upon request.
The house includes WIFI access, Cable Service, two TVs, 2 DVDs, and DVR Service to record your favorite television shows while you are out. XBOX or Wii gaming systems are available upon request.
The house features a fully-equipped kitchen including kiichen island and walk-in pantry. Appliances include gas range, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, disposal, toaster, coffee maker, and pancake griddle.
Enjoy the stone patio in the private backyard furnished with a charcoal grill for evening grilling and fire pit for nights.
Other nice features of the house include wood floors, central air/central heat and a separate indoor laundry room.
We provide linens, towels, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soaps in the kitchen and bath to make your stay comfortable and carefree.
All this within walking distance of some of Austin's best restaurants and cafes. Nearby restaurants, cafes and stores include Kerbey Lane Cafe, Olive & June, Teo's, Central Market Cafe and Restaurant. Day activities in town and within 5 to 10 minutes of the house include kayaking Lady Bird Lake, festivals at Zilker Park, swimming in Barton Springs Pool, touring the Bob Bullock History Museum, the State Capitol, the Blanton Museum or LBJ Library, world class performance at the Long Center. Lake Austin and Lake Travis are minutes west.We are 5 to 15 blocks from St. David's, Seton, The Heart Hospital, Dell Children's Hospital for needed medical stays.
If you do not want to drive, Capital Metro bus routes pick up less than three blocks from the house for the short ride into Downtown or UT.
We have hosted weekend getaways, wedding guests, visiting professors, musicians, filmmakers and corporate employees in Austin on work assignments.

We spent 10 days, including Christmas and New Years, and loved every moment. The house is just as the pictures depict. There were two couples staying at the house. The kitchen was perfect, we made & decorated a large gingerbread house and cookie tree, cooked a goose for Christmas, and two amazing desserts to mention a few things. We ate at the house every meal except for two. We felt that the location was covenient to everything important in Austin. The neighborhood was very quiet and we always felt safe. Katherine, was very responsive during the entire process of reviewing the property, renting, and then during our stay. The location was perfect for us, and one of the couples loved the house so much that they wanted to transport it back to their current home town Katherine even made extra efforts to help us with the bathroom, because one guest had a walker. That was very special. I would highly recommend staying with Katherine, and we would return the next time that we are in Austin. The house was immaculate upon arrival. Everything looked exactly like it did in the listing -- internet, cable, laundry, and all of the appliances worked without any troubles whatsoever. The owner was communicative and helpful, which made checking in/out a breeze. Nearby restaurants (Kerby Cafe!), grocery store, and coffee shop made day to day living easy and fun without a car. The backyard and firepit was the most loved feature, and being able to house our entire group at this price is a close second. Definitely recommend this property to anyone, and will use it again next time we come through Austin! The house was immaculate upon Arrival. Everything looked exactly like it did in the listing. Internet, Cable, Laundry, and all of the appliances worked without any troubles whatsoever. The owner was communicative and helpful, which made checking in/out a breeze. Nearby restaurants (Kerby Cafe!), grocery store, and coffee shop made day to day living easy and fun without a car. The backyard and firepit was the most loved feature, and being able to house our entire group at this price is a close 2nd. We have stayed at this home twice while relocating to Austin. The central location is excellent, affording easy access to any activity in town. About the owner: I fell in love with Austin while attending University here. I left briefly with work -- got back to Austin as soon as I could!
