The cabin is a wonderful place to stay and exceeded our expectations. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to be! We spent hours on the deck reading, enjoying the quiet and nature. Next time we hope to be a bit adventurous with the kayaks! The cabin is well-maintained and very, very comfortable. Robin told us we were the first to use the new kitchen and it was perfect! We hope to return soon and have already recommended it to friends.
Owner response:Thanks so much, Ken, for choosing our cabin and the Suwannee River for your Florida getaway. Please come again and tube down the Ichetucknee (summer months)! Robin

Off the beaten path ... off the grid ... out of the way ... all of the above! We had such a wonderful time at the Suwannee River Cabin, even though our time was short. It's as-advertised -- not a lot of access to outside distractions (no TV/Internet, but our cell phones worked fine ... unfortunately!), but with plenty of amenitities ... from the kayaks, canoes and tire swing to the wood burning fireplace and kitchen with everything we needed (except the actual food) to cook full meals. Very clean, comfortable beds, lots of extra pillows and blankets, washer/dryer if you need it. This is a great place to get away (but it is definitely away from everything, so you'll need to have what you need or be prepared for a decent drive for supplies). It was just what my husband and I were looking for and we highly recommend it for others who want to spend time enjoying nature and each other!
Owner response:Thanks so much for choosing our cabin, Kay! I hope that you can both come again - every season is quite different up there. Best wishes, Robin and Scott Etter

We had the absolute best time! The first day we stayed by the river and went swimming, cooked and just relaxed. Saturday we went kayaking, experienced manatees by the bank of the river, took a walk down the dirt roads, cooked and spent the evening talking on the deck. The manatees were so inquisitive and came back Sunday morning to check us out again. This time swimming right up to the kayaks. We took a voyage across the river to the rope swing and spent some time on the bank over there. Sunday we went to the Ichetucknee and rode the river (just from mid point this year) and visited the Spring. It was sad leaving your piece of paradise on the Suwanee. We fell in love and will definitely be back. My husband and I already starting planning a trip to come back with our sons. The whole weekend we talked about all the things they would have enjoyed at the cabin and along the river. Next trip will be a family trip instead of an adults weekend!

I took my wife and two kids to this great cabin on the river for the first time when my daughter was just nine. We go back every year or so and my daughter just finished her first year of college. It is still her favorite vacation spot. For us, a full week is great. There is so much, or so little to do, depending on what you are looking for. From the rope swing to taking a nap in the hammock, picking blueberries, exploring the river bank, swimming, fishing, hiking or just watching the river, you can do it all from the cabin. I love the loft and the view of the the river from the upstairs bedroom; the large windows and deck overlooking the Suwannee are awesome! We love the decor and the all subtle touches throughout the cabin. There are also plenty of springs within just a few minutes drive. My family always enjoys tubing down the Ichetucknee River, it's a fun day trip! Robin is always great. Every time we stay at the Suwannee cabin it is always clean and everything always works wonderfully. The times we have rented in other parts of the country, the rental houses never live up to their online descriptions. With the Suwannee cabin, the total experience has always, from our first visit, far exceeded our expectations. For anyone wanting to experience what the real Florida is about, I can not imagine a nicer, more comfortable and relaxing place to call home for a week. I know we will continue to come back every year or so for the rest of our lives. Robin and the Suwannee cabin are the best!
Owner response:Thank you James. We hope that there will be many more Suwannee River Cabin memories to make in your future! Robin and Scott Etter

We had a great time! My wife and I are in the midst of a quest to paddle the entire length of the Suwannee River and after completing our last leg to Branford I began doing research on our next trip and found the link for the cabin on Google Earth. We completed our next segment from Branford to the Santa Fe River on Monday and it was nice to be able to stop at the cabin to take a break and eat lunch at the cabin about 3/4 of the way down. It's not the nicest stretch of the river by any means (too many houses) but we saw an Eagle and watched a Red Shouldered Hawk snatch a lizard right in front of us so it was good. We will definitely be back to use it as a base to do more of the river.
Owner response:What a wonderful journey - you two are inspiring Scott and I to paddle to the ocean! Thanks for staying at the Suwannee cabin.

My husband and I stayed at your "tree house" as we called it. What a wonderful experience. It really felt like you were staying in the trees! The house was so inviting and comfortable. We spent most of our time on the back deck just taking in the river view. We will definitely be coming back, but this time with our kids in tow so they can enjoy the river and tire swing!
Owner response:I'm so happy you were able to relax at the cabin and enjoy the scenery! I hope your children can come some day and enjoy the tire swing and fishing! Best wishesfor 2011. Robin

Robin....we truly had one of the best times of our entire lives. Your cabin and the location were amazing! We instantly felt at home and could not have been more at peace. I work a high stress job and this trip truly rejuvenated me. I cannot thank you enough for the experience. We are hoping to come back as soon as possible. We spent many hours exploring the river in both directions and were mesmerized by the beauty of the area. We travel often and this was one of our most memorable trips. Thank you for sharing your secluded piece of paradise!....P.S......we started your book and we want to come back and finish it!!! Sincerely, The Young Family

This place was amazing!! We (my husband, 2 kids - 9 & 7 and I)loved it. We only went for 2 nights but it felt like longer. We had time to so many things. We went tubing down the river, swimming in the springs, watch movies, played board games and rested. The place was absolutely in perfect order and everything was sparkling clean. It was so great that we already booked our next vacation in it! Thank you Robin for sharing such a nice place with me and my family.
Owner response:Dear Ramirez-Cobian Family, Thank you for coming to the Suwannee River! We know it was a long drive but hope that you will be able to come again someday so that your kids remember their adventures from this first trip! Best wishes, Robin and Scott Etter

Me and my family, went here to get away, it was so quiet, peaceful, and it really makes you appreciate life to the fullest! The cabin is amazing, the view is beautiful, and the little town is perfect! We had campfires, went canoeing, played on the tire swing, and relaxed on the porch overlooking the river. Thank you for making our vacation wonderful!!!!!

Coming from a very busy city like Miami, it was wonderful to 'hear' so much silence. The cabin was clean, cozy and fully equipped. We loved sitting outside listening to nature! We saw a sturgeon jumping out of the river, we were visited by many squirrels, and we even got to see a deer by the road to the cabin. There are plenty of things to do or choose to do nothing at all. It is the perfect getaway! Robin, thank you for letting us enjoy your cabin. Looking forward to coming back soon.

We enjoyed nearby swimming and floating in Ginnie Springs, canoeing on the Suwannee river, riding on the tire swing in back of the cabin, and floating down the Ichetucknee Springs in tubes! The cabin was quaint, clean, tastefully decorated and had that real Florida feel with artifacts gleaned from the owner's own adventures! The cabin is nice and has comfortable accomodations for 4 persons, or more, as the futon could easily sleep two children and the couch with a 3rd child, adults upstairs. The kitchen is well-stocked, linens/towels plush and very comfortable and were a nice plus. The book selections and DVD's were a good variety of selections. For our technologically inclined children these days, they could bring their portable electronic devices, but best to make their own fun with board games and family time. We enjoyed nearby Branford for dining out and enjoyed talking with the locals. If you like the "real" Florida and exploring the beautiful outdoors and nature, then this cabin is your place. We will most likely return in the future!

Dear Robin, We have spent 4 wonderful days in your lovely house close to a year ago. We all had the time of of our lives. Our 6 year old little daughter truly enjoyed the tire swing and we all had a great time just exploring the area and having fun in the river with the canoes. When the idea of going somewhere in August came up, both of our children (16 and 6) voted to go back to the enchanted "Snow White" house as our little daughter called it. We can't wait to go back!!! Thank you for everything! Emmy
Owner response:Thank you Emmy! So glad you can return again to the Suwannee River! Robin

My husband and I booked the cabin for our anniversary. We were so very pleased with the whole experience. From booking the cabin with Robin, she was so wonderful and easy to deal with, to our actual stay there. We arrived a little early and were able to sit on the back balcony and just enjoy the river and the peaceful surroundings. The cabin was very clean and nicely decorated. Everything you could need or want for cooking was there. The canoe's are there for use and we took them out everyday of our stay. The river is so very relaxing. We did not venture out to any other attractions, etc. because we found we did not need to. The cabin had a vast collection of books to read and games to play, as well as movies to watch if you wanted to. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone. My husband and I will definitely go back and take the kids with us. There is something for everyone to enjoy. I can not think of a single thing we did not like about the cabin or our stay. Thanks again to Robin! She is such a pleasure to do business with.

Words cannot begin to express how much we enjoyed the cabin. It was everything we were expecting and more. From the moment I first spoke to Robin upon booking, I knew we were going to love it. The book made it so much more special just to get a glimpse of Robin and Scott and their restoration journey. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen and to know how much of their blood, sweat and tears it took to make it so, well, as I said, words can’t describe. We had a wonderful time. Very little boat traffic on Thursday and Friday and we were almost ashamed to speak out loud – there was an utter peacefulness about the place. The canoes were great and we appreciated being able to use them. This morning, before leaving, we were lucky enough to see a doe, We are already planning when we can return – One of our best anniversaries in 27 years.

Robin: We can never get enough of your Suwannee River Cabin. We've been to visit 5 times now. Some of us fish and canoe, others get out to the nearby springs to snorkle, and others just like stay on the property and enjoy the cabin itself. It's the perfect combination of wilderness and comfort. Love from the Hamrick Family
