The house on Lime Lake was a perfect getaway for our family vacation this summer. The accommodations are great coupled with the feeling like you have your own private lake just steps from the house. From the house to the lake to the nearby towns with activities its the perfect spot for a relaxing family vacation - I would highly recommend it!

Spent a week in this beautiful house with our kids and grandkids. What a wonderful time we had. Spectacular views of the lake, a spacious deck for grilling and playing games, house is open and roomy for lots of people, kitchen has everything you need and we used it daily. The lake is super shallow and so warm and clear---perfect for our little ones. One night they were still swimming a 10:30 with a fire going on the beach and making smores' of course! We climbed the dunes almost daily and went into Glen Arbor shopping and got icecream! You must go to cherry republic and boonedocks--all will love it. We had a girls day and went to the wineries.Wendy gave us information on her favorite beaches, restaurants and also wineries and it was so helpful. Thank you so much Wendy---it was a great vacation for all!!

The pictures of the house truly don't do it justice! The house and the property is gorgeous, not to mention the places that are near the house. Its a perfect get away for a large or small group. It's not near a main road so its nice and quite and the lake isnt very busy either so its great to lay out on. I would bring some water shoes though because the rocks at the bottom of the lake hurt your feet when walking on them. The house has everything you can think of as far as "extras" go so thats nice knowing if something happens you dont immediatly have to run into town to get it. My family and I had no problems at all the entire we were there and we plan on going back as soon as possible!!!

There is so much to praise, and it gives me great pleasure to share our enthusiasm for our stay. Our family of 5 stayed here in early September. This is a beautiful home, fabulous location, and the setting and Lime Lake is a bit of heaven. We cannot say enough good things about our stay. The home is even more spacious and open than the photos suggest. Not to mention decorated beautifully. Every possible amenity is included, which our family really appreciated. The view out the front of the house, the sweeping deck, and glorious Lime Lake were the icing on the cake for us. Lime Lake is Aquamarine clear, warm, great for swimming, sunning on the beach or the dock, fishing...or whatever else you like to do. We are coming back again, and so grateful to Wendy and Pat for offering their beautiful home. One last thing...Sleeping Bear Dunes State Park, and the surrounding area is filled with endless amounts of things to do.

From the moment we came in, we loved this house! It was open and spacious for our party of 10 people. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen on days when it was rainy and the wonderful thing was all the useful kitchen accessories that were available to us. The back of this house was spectacular! The lake view was breath taking and the barbeque and patio set didn't hurt :) We enojyed a couple of days of grilling and hanging outside. The lake water was shallow enough so the children could play safetly. One of the main things we did at night was sit around the bonfire that was right next to the dock. We roasted marshmallows and had a great time. The only thing was we had to drive about 20 minutes to get to a meijers. There a few local grocery stores near by, but for the things we needed we had to go to a full service grocery store. The house was very clean and there was more than enough linens and bed sheets to support a group of 10 people. We did have to do laundry a few times, which was a great bonus to have a washer and dryer available in the house. We would definitely come back to this house. We had a lot of good memories and good times :) Thanks.

My extended family all came together for a very relaxing week at this cabin. The lake is beautiful and very peaceful. We had plenty of room in the cabin and truly enjoyed our time together. The lake was much more shallow than we had anticipated off the dock which was great for swimming but not so great for fishing. The water was very warm this time of the year and great to play in!

Owner response: Thanks so much. We're always happy to hear about happy family times spent at our home. Yes, fishing off the dock would not work, unless you're catching minnows! Best to rent a pontoon or small power boat. The lake gets to be about 70 feet deep when it drops off, but that is quite a way out from our shoreline. We catch lots of perch, smallmouth and rock bass, and hear rumors of walleye, but haven't gotten one ourselves yet!

The photos do not do justice to this beautiful place. The home was newer and roomier than expected, and loaded with many more amenities than one would anticipate from a vacation rental. The location is perfect - - close by a couple of fantastic golf courses and no more than thirty minutes from all of the region's main attractions. Overall, the experience far exceeded our expectations. The lake itself is shallow for a long distance out with a rocky, muddy bottom, but is very pretty and had almost no water traffic - - a great place to kayak.

Owner response: Thanks so much for the glowing review, and we hope you'll come stay again soon! One clarification, though: The lake bottom is neither "muddy" nor "rocky". It is white sand with limey sediment (hence, Lime Lake) that is porous and soft close to the shoreline. This gives a sensation of sinking a bit, like mud, but is not dirty or weedy and will leave only clean white sand on your foot. Some people are bothered by the lime deposits (which crumble in your hand) and I recommend water shoes to any swimmers with very sensitive feet. Most people are thrilled by the shallow water (close to the house) for little ones, the warmth (83 degrees in July this year) and the clarity of the lake. Lime Lake is a great option for the nearby Lake Michigan beaches, which are gorgeous, but can be a little overwhelming for toddlers and small children on windy days. Please see photos for more info.

As a mom to 2 little ones (under age 5), I always fret about going away ... you never know what you're going to get and if the accommodations will work for little kids. Well, I have nothing but fabulous things to say about this home and the surrounding area! Originally my kids used the pack-n-plays (2 provided), but are now old enough to stay in the guest bedroom with the trundle bed. They love it - what an adventure it is for them to come up here with their aunts and uncles and stay in the 'big bed' that they get to share. The activities in the surrounding communities are perfect for young kids - an outing to Fish Town in Leland, Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor and, of course, the Dunes. Lime Lake is very shallow and easy for little kids to play in. Enjoy - you won't find a more impeccably kept home that really works for kids. (There is even a toy box in the living room.)

Guest: JDragonfly (Lake Forest, IL/Midwest) Date of Stay: 06/08/09 Review Submitted: 04/13/10 My husband and I have stayed in this beautiful property twice and enjoyed every moment of it. It is a comfortable home away from home. I love coming downstairs in the morning and being able to make my own breakfast and brew my tea in exactly the way I like it and to return at the end of the day to put my feet up and read my book on the deck as the day sinks into a blissful soft evening glow. The house and area is lovely and quiet and I felt like I was a million miles away from a busy life. The house, bed linens and towels are spotlessly clean. The house is decorated with comfortable couches and armchairs with lots of space to spread out. There is a washing machine and dryer which would be useful if you are taking family. Having said how much I like to make my own breakfast I have to add that I also love to go to Leland to a little bakery for breakfast and sit outside and people watch. The restaurants blew me away - they are among the best I have ever eaten in. My favorite is the Riverside Inn. Try and get a table outside on the river - heaven! Another favorite of mine is to go to Glen Arbor or Leland and just putter around the cute little shops. Don't miss Cherry Republic - chocolate covered cherries to die for! The whole area is breathtakingly beautiful and has been one of my favorite places for many years. The owners are a delight and will put themselves out to ensure that all is well. Thanks for a happy time staying in your lovely home. Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Guest: lmroses (Chicago, IL) Date of Stay: 08/28/08 Review Submitted: 04/15/10 For the past three years my husband and I have spent five days at the end of the summer staying in this wonderful house. The views of the water from this beautifully maintained home are fabulous and each room is nicer than the next. We love starting the morning down on the dock, drinking coffee and watching the sun burn off the early morning mist. And grilling on the back deck makes for a perfect ending to the day. There's a fabulous fruit stand nearby and all sorts of wonderful stores are within easy driving distance. I'm an avid knitter and there's even a great knitting shop in one of the neighboring towns. Best of all are the beautiful beaches and extensive parks that surround the area. Since we enjoy walking, we are never without a lovely place to explore. Each year we anticipate our visit to this wonderful getaway. In fact, we've already booked our time for this year!
