Great Cottage with the amenities ol home

Guest: Dave (Hawaii )
Date of Stay: 11/13/11 Review Submitted: 02/18/12

We want to recommend the Pond Cottage to any vacationer who wants quiet country privacy with all the amenities. This place was perfect; clean, tastefully designed with touches of the Great Northwest, even a DVD with the TV, wifi and everything in the kitchen (except a dishwasher). My  wife and I brought my mother who loved sleeping in the window framed bed, watching the birds on the pond. We invited other family to join us for a meal and we easily served 5 inside, and even could have had 3 more outside on the deck table. Every night when we came back from adventures in the National Park we felt like we were coming home. The upstairs loft was easy to use for my wife and I and the bed was very comfortable. We are planning another week back in May when we understand the wildflowers will be blooming in the meadows surrounding the cottage.

Tranquil Treasure

What a sweet treasure of a cabin. My daughter treated me to this wonderful cabin when I was visiting from the East coast, knowing my love for nature. Sleeping on the window seat and looking at the stars was amazing. Being sung to sleep by the frogs down at the pond was music to my ears. The little wood stove was well stocked with wood. The cabin was clean and cozy and all it was written up to be an more! 3 Adults and one child were very comfortable. I would highly recommend this cabin. The owner was very helpful with any questions we had.

Peaceful and Cozy

We had a wonderful time at the pond cottage! The sunsets were beautiful over the pond, the morning's were peaceful with a clear view of the mountains. The cottage was very comfortable--great beds, well stocked kitchen, very open yet cozy at the same time. It was a great location for visiting Hurricane Ridge and even catching the ferry to Victoria. Thank you for your hospitality!

Thank you for sharing your Pond Cottage. What a beautiful, relaxing corner of the world you have created. The design and caring that went into creating this retreat is much appreciated. Everything I needed to relax and recharge was provided. My favorite spot was the window seat-for viewing, sleeping, reading and recharging. Thank you for creating this spot and sharing it.

Peaceful and private

Guest: Wish I Was There Now (Sacramento, CA)
Date of Stay: 10/23/10 Review Submitted: 11/16/10

I spent a week at the cottage and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. You get a sense of being very remote, yet are close to modern conveniences and have easy access to all the beauty of the national park and surrounding areas. The cottage is very comfortable, well-equipped, and well-maintained. Most days, I was out and about hiking and enjoying the breathtaking scenery, but I also spent a couple of days just chilling "at home." It was cool enough during my visit to use the wood stove, making for cozy evenings. I definitely plan on returning.

Great Secluded Getaway

Guest: Doyle & Lori (Brea, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/28/10 Review Submitted: 09/05/10

My Husband and I stayed for 5 nights the last week of August. The Cottage is beautifully decorated. Everything was clean and Suzann had left a plate of cookies, which we took on our picnic the next day to Ruby Beach. She asked what we liked to do and made suggestions. She suggested after our day of sightseeing to stop at the Cresent Lake Lodge and have cocktails at sunset. It was just beautiful and relaxing...great tip. We stargazed at night with a glass of wine and a campfire at the cottage. We saw a family of deer every evening grazing just outside the cottage window. We plan to come back in the winter.

Wonderful Spot

Guest: Rick&Ellen (Palm Harbor, Florida)
Date of Stay: 08/01/10 Review Submitted: 08/12/10

My husband and I rented the Pond Cottage for three days and four nights during the first of August. We found everything as described. Our hosts gave great privacy and prompt response to all calls and emails. The cabin was spotlessly clean, perfectly decorated, and very comfortable. We would love to rent again when we're in the area.

If you want lots of privacy with great views, this is the place!

Date of Stay: 07/19/10 Review Submitted: 07/28/10

My husband and I stayed at the cottage for a little over a week, and we LOVED it. We're already planning a trip back next summer, and we will definitely stay here again. It was a comfortable place to come home to after spending the day hiking, but I could have easily spent the day at the cottage relaxing. The cottage is located on a private lane several miles down a quiet country road. The views from inside and outside the cottage are beautiful, and we usually spent the mornings lounging around on the deck taking in the scenery (Hurricane Ridge) and watching birds. We never closed the curtains - there's no need to. The cottage is surrounded by big trees that provided us with all the privacy we needed. The cottage is in a great location - close to Hurricane Ridge and other areas for great hiking. It's also conveniently located near two health-food stores - one in Sequem and a smaller one in Port Angeles. Also, it's close to the ferry in Port Angeles, which made it convenient for us to take the ferry across to Vancouver Island and spend the whole day there. There are also two wine-tasting rooms near by. We only had time to get to one and had a lot of fun tasting Washington wines. The cottage hosts were fantastic. For the most part the cottage had everything we needed, but if we asked for something, Suzann or Martin provided it right away. They even loaned us a compass to use on our hikes so that we didn't have to buy one. I recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to get away from it all yet have all the modern conveniences we're used to like satellite TV and Internet access.

Great place to get away from the world

Guest: Greg (Chicago)
Date of Stay: 06/11/10 Review Submitted: 06/29/10

My wife and I stayed here for three nights on our honeymoon. The place is exactly what it appears to be from the pictures: a cabin in the middle of nowhere. You drive down a 200 yard long gravel driveway to get here. From your cabin you can see no other residences. We stayed in the cabin before the curtains were up, but it was no problem as there is no one else around. The cabin is wonderful. The pictures about capture it all. We were the first visitors to stay in the cabin. The lofted bed is very comfortable. We were surprised by how many people the cabin can sleep. It was the perfect size for my wife and I. You could easily sleep five in the cabin, though you would feel a bit on top each other during the day. The cabin has a great "just enough, but not too much" feel to it. The kitchen and bathroom are fully functional but not elaborate: the real focus is the view and being surrounded by nature. Huge panoramic windows open up to a pond, woods and snow capped mountains in the distance. Suzanne was a great host. She left us a bottle of champagne in the fridge for our honeymoon, drove twenty minutes to deliver coffee filters when we found the cabin didn't have any, and offered to deliver fresh towels on our third day. The location is great. You are far enough from civilization to have peace, but close enough to not be inconvenient. At night you'll see an incredible amount of stars. On two separate occasions a deer wandered into our backyard and hung out for 15 minutes. Ten minutes away is one of the best markets I've been to with great fresh produce, bulk cereal, fresh meat. You are 10 minutes outside of Port Angeles with all the amenities of a working town. 15 minutes away is the Olympic National Park visitor center - go here as soon as you get into town to plot out your trip. On a clear day we drove about 45 minutes to Hurricane Ridge for one of the most beautiful panoramic views I've ever seen. We also did some hiking in the HOH rainforest, about 2.5 hours away, and stumbled across a herd of elk. Overall, we highly recommend checking out the cabin as a deviation from the standard hotel room. It was a unique experience and will remain a great part of our honeymoon memories.

We saw the Pond Cottage just as it was finished and we are definitely coming back to stay. These owners have built another quintessential Northwest home. We have stayed in their other homes and they pay such attention to detail.
