This registered Landmark was built in 1880 by William Converse, President of the Pennsylvania Railroad as his "summer cottage"! Originally it was an oceanfront home and now is right across the street from the beach in a quiet section of Beach Haven.
Recently completely renovated to its original glory! The home has a very large mahogany wrap around porch with 5 separate entrances to the house. The living room is very spacious and airy with a pass through wood burning fireplace and 50 inch plasma TV. There is also another large family room with plasma tv and docking station for kids games ex xbox,and wii.Also in the kitchen,diningroom,family room and 3 bedrooms there is a built in stereo system.
The kitchen is a chef's dream with a 9 ft center island complete with a Viking 4 burner cook-top and built in grill. It also has a separate 48 inch Viking Range with 4 burners and a 24 inch griddle. We also have a wall oven with separate built in convection microwave. To accommodate large groups and families we have a 48 in refrigerator and separate wine/beer refrigerator by the wet bar.
Also available by request The Onion Dome personal chef to prepare a custom meal for your special occasion!

In the house we have 11 bedrooms and 61/2 baths. Attached to the house there is a separate unit that used to be the servants quarters, this has its own kitchen and bath and living room with 3 bedrooms that will sleep 11 including pull out sofa.
The highlight of this beautiful home is on the 3rd floor .It is called the Onion Dome because of its architectural shape. It has been closed up for many years and we have opened it back up as it was is the 1800's. The view is breathtaking as you watch the sunrise and sunsets over the ocean!

This lovely home is just as elegant and beautiful as the pictures depict. Our large group of girlfriends could really spread out and enjoy the place from the top of the Onion Dome to welcoming wicker rockers on the wrap-around front porch. Both spots were perfect for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. We created some delicious meals in that gourmet kitchen. The downtown restaurants, theater, shops, and the beach were within walking distance. Needless to say, we're coming back next year!

What a great house to spread out in. This was our 2nd girlfriend retreat and we hope to do it again... Loved the onion dome for late afternoon cocktails...great living room for movies and great porch to sit around and be with friends. Even went to a play....you will love this house!

Our stay at the Grand Dame was fabulous! We have been vacationing at LBI for years and our stay in this house was made the vacation one to remember. The house is spacious, comfortable and charming. We have a large family with lots of young kids and we had enough room to survive the week with many memories made. The location is ideal. Quiet area, hop skip and jump to the beach and walking distance to many attractions. We loved it and hope to vacation at the Dame every summer.

Our family spent a long weekend here for a family reunion . It was the perfect house for it. We were 23 people ages 8 to 80...everyone found fun things to do. Mini golf, golf, beach sitting ,softball at the park bocce ball, bike riding and shopping to name a few A brisk walk in the morning. Easy grocery shopping We didn't have time to do it all. The house is spectacular. The sea breezes kept the front porch and living room and bedrooms comfortably cool It was an ideal way to spend a vacation We all look forward to returning someday soon The house was very clean all dishes equipment in working order and we found no faults with the way the house was presented.In fact it was better than we imagined
