We wanted a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the holidays in Los Angeles and we found it at Mike's house in Ridgway! The seclusion on the beautiful property was wonderful and the immaculate house made staying in a dream. We sat by the Quadrafire, drank wine, and gazed through the huge south-facing windows at the snow falling. My two year old called the deer and rabbits her "best friends" and loved that she got to see them daily. I can't say enough about how nice the house is - it was like staying in a well-kept hotel (without the bother or other guests and much cheaper!) If you're planning on staying in Ridgway, definitely consider this house. I am sure you will love it as much as we did.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a week in this home and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants privacy, beautiful views of the mountains, and wildlife meandering through the property at all hours. My husband and I stayed here with our 22 year old daughter and her fiance and none of us were ready to leave when the week was over. We had been concerned that the seclusion would be a little "boring" for our daughter and her fiance, but that wasn't the case at all. They loved seeing the elk, deer, coyotes, chipmunks and bunnies come and go throughout the day. We would leave during the day to see nearby Ouray and Telluride, but return in the evenings for dinner and watching the wildlife at dusk. The house is new, modern and very clean. And Mike, the owner, was always easily available by phone or email, and was very nice and helpful. The kitchen is well equiped for just about any kind of cooking you might want to do and the view from the living room of the mountains and wildlife just can't be beat. The house has 2 very comfortable bedrooms ... the master upstairs and the extra bedroom downstairs. We loved sleeping with the windows opened all night and were awakened a couple of nights to the sound of a dozen or more coyotes having a "howling contest" not far from the house. Loved that! There are 2 full bathrooms, 1 on each floor. It was nice to have a full-size washer and dryer there to wash after a long day of hiking. Everything worked well ... no problems. We enjoyed dinner at True Grit in Ridgway our first evening there, but most days we spent in Ouray or Telluride. We took a wonderful jeep tour up into the mountains above Ouray (Imagene Pass) and really enjoyed that. Well worth the time and money! We did some great hiking in Ouray and Telluride. The Perimeter Trail in Ouray is great, and Blue Lake between Ridgway and Telluride was wonderful. We saw a black bear after that hike leaving the trailhead ... what a thrill! We attempted to hike "Top of the Pines" which is right across County Rd. 5 from the house, but couldn't find the trail head, so I wouldn't waste your time on that one. Telluride is charming ... eat dinner at Allred's Restaurant at the top of the gondola for wonderful views! It's pricey, so if that's a problem, just have a drink/appetizer in the bar for the same views and less expense. If you want to be near all the charming mountain towns, but want to getaway at night to the seclusion of this lovely house, this is the place for you!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I stayed for 5 nights at this home in July 2012. I picked Ridgway because it was a nice centralized location for hiking near Ridgway as well as Telluride, Ouray and Silverton. The home couldn't have been more perfect for us. It feels brand new and has an amazing living room with breathtaking views of the mountains as well as a very nice entertainment system for the evenings to watch movies (and the Olympic opening ceremonies!). After hiking all day I slept like a baby in the comfortable bedroom while leaving the windows open for a nice cold breeze (it's great to be able to cozy up under a big blanket in July!). The kitchen is large, new, and clean, providing everything you would need to make a nice dinner or just morning breakfast and coffee. Staying here gave the experience of living in a luxury mountain home at an affordable price and was a highlight of our 5-day San Juan hiking trip.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Okay, I'll just get to the point. This rental is fantastic. A clean, modern, stylish house set in the most stunning setting you could ask for. Peace, tranquility, incredible views, wildlife. If you didn't leave the property all holiday you would still have a time to remember. However if you do you'll discover the stunning delights of south west Colorado. This was the third week of a month long Colorado adventure for my wife and I. We live in London, UK so peace, scenery, nature and a slower pace of life was what we came to CO for. We certainly found it here. The historic town of Ridgway is just a short drive from the property - the True Grit cafe and the Railroad Museum are just a couple of highlights. A real easy going dusty western town. Great scenic drives further afield take you to equally historic towns such as Ouray, Silverton and Telluride passing jaw dropping scenery along the way. Bring an extra memory card for your camera! Mike, the owner was a pleasure to deal with too. A great getaway from it all rental. Oh yes, the stars looked amazing as well. Did I say incredible views? We ... (my husband and I & another couple) ... were looking forward to escaping the Dallas heat and revisiting the Telluride - Ridgeway - Ouray area in which we had backpacked over 35 years ago. This home with its first floor open plan and fabulous views was perfect for our needs. The kitchen was stocked with most of the pans/utensils that we required, the Jenn-air gas stove was a plus for the "chef" of our group and the exterior gas grill came in handy on several occasions. We were visited by an abundance of wild life .... wild turkeys .... grazing cattle ... deer ... elk and the ever entertaining rabbits and ground squirrels. I was pleasantly surprised that Ridgway offered a great micro brewery that also served wonderful home made pizza ... check out "Colorado Boy" pub & brewery .... a good place to meet the locals. If you are into fly fishing, stop in at "Rigs Fly Shop" in Ridgway for equipment needs and guide information. For those who want a gliding experience .... "Glider Bob" in Telluride is the man for you .... the highlight for my husband this trip was an hour in the air gliding with Bob as he gives you an arial tour of Telluride and its surrouding mountains. Our stay in Mike's home was just what we had hoped it would be. Mike was very attentive in responding to our questions or concerns ... and we thank him for sharing his home and wonderful mountain views ..... I wish I was there right now!Recommended for: Age 55+.

A fantastic and quiet oasis in the most scenic area of Colorado. The property was clean and equiped exactly as advertised. If you are in the area to view wildlife, you may never have to leave the living room with its floor to ceiling windows. The owner was prompt with any request made,- information, service, etc. He was also an excellent source of information for local events, restaurants and activities. We're already planning a return trip!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed the quiet, relaxing surroundings. The view was spectacular. Everything was as listed on the description. Home was beautiful, clean and homey. The owner was more than helpful in answering all our concerns. The mountains and wildlife were wonderful. The small town of Ridgeway and Oaray, Colorado were great places to explore. The little restaurant "True Grit" in Ridgeway not only had very good food but the staff and the restaurant itself were delightful.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had the most wonderful month stay. The views exceeded our expectations. Our days were full of all the activities that the surounding area had to offer. What cannot be described-only experienced is the serinity that this property had to offer. We enjoyed the quiet nights star gazing as much as we did the day's activities. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for the serenity received from a panoramic view of mountains and sky. Pete and VeraRecommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Gorgeous views, beautiful well-maintained house, wonderful Colorado location away from all the craziness of the ski towns. Great hiking and fishing nearby or just walk the property and spot where all the Marlboro commercials were shot. The reality of the house was even better than the photos...especially the master bedroom! Loved the Thai restaurant. Colorado Boy had great local brew. Owner was terrific to work with and right on with every recommendation. We were up for a wedding and so glad we found this rental.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

I stayed here with my family and had a great time! The views are absolutely amazing! Whether you are an outdoor adventurer or just looking for a place to spend a quiet weekend, this house is the best. The views of Sneffels make you want to head for the top. It is a great base for checking out Ridgway, Ouray, Silverton, Telluride and anywhere else in the area. It was unbelievably quiet and peaceful, and made a great long-weekend retreat from Denver. All of the rooms were very comfortable, and the house was very clean and well-maintained. I hope to make it back for ski season!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
