Location: Rindge, Monadnock Region, New Hampshire, USA
Accommodations: Chateau / Country House, 6 Bedrooms + Convertible Bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 14-16)
This classic, large, family summer home, known as "Edgewood", has the feel of a bygone era...from a time when people traveled from the city to vacation on the lake with their family in an atmosphere of beauty, relaxation and recreation. Set back from the sandy lane that leads up to it and shielded behind a row of shade trees, the home is situated on a grassy lawn, a stone's throw from the water. Private, with natural barriers separating it from the few homes on the lane, Edgewood offers an exclusive vacation while still being able to access the many attractions of the Monadnock Region. Though it may have the feel of another era, Edgewood has all the amenities one could expect for a comfortable, leisurely vacation. The home accommodates 14-16 while still offering private spaces, having 6 bedrooms of varying sizes, a large living room, a combined kitchen/dining, and an enclosed porch which runs the length of the house with water view. The breeze seems to always run through Edgewood and the porch is the place to watch a thunder storm. The outside deck can host a large gathering for a barbeque or offer a quiet place to watch the sunrise and the sunset. The sandy beach has a gentle slope, great for kids. You may avail yourself to the boat dock, complete with a canoe and a paddle boat. A fenced in yard adjacent to the home offers safety for children or pets. A mowed field provides for badmiton, volleyball, croquet or family football. Edgewood is a summer home you can come back to year after year, providing your family with memories..a place to recreate, to remember, and to enjoy each others' company. It is a family treasure which is both comfortable yet welcoming to sandy feet.

We had a nearby wedding and the location was perfect. We had many out of town guests and needed many rooms and the 2 baths worked well. However, we did forget to let our family know htat one set of faucets is backwards. Being on the waterfront and having a campfire pit was a few of the added attractions that we enjoyed. We used the paddleboat and the rowboat to enjoy the view of Mount Monadnock. There was even a sweet woman that came along on the quiet waters and offered a lake excursion. The whole area was quiet and peaceful. There were a few geese honking into the night. We hiked and saw the location of Franklin Pierce College. The deck was the most used space and the enclosed porch came in second as the nights chilled down. Some enjoyed the football on tv while others played cards and games on the porch. The kitchen worked out well and had most everything we needed. Our time was October and the autumn leaves were changing daily. The weather was perfect and dry but the nights were a little crisp. The 2 heaters were used in the house to take off the dampness. The beds and linens were abundant, some more comfortable than others. The rustic charm of the house takes you back to camps, but it was very clean and adequate. We had family from all over the states(some had never been to NH before) and it was a great time for creating new memories and going back over the old ones. It is also a great location close to Keene if anyone needs a room for the pumpkinfest or area events. Jaffrey has many activities in the late summer and early fall too.

Just like the title says. Edgewood is a breath of fresh air, literally. Had gorgeous memorial day weekend with good friends and a beautiful place. From the wonderful view from the private dock looking over the glimmering lake to food and laughter in the comfort in the home. A place to get away for sure.

We were so happy to arrive at this vacation cottage on the lake, we could spot it from the road across the lake - just like the picture. It is quiet, private and so warm and welcoming. The whole family found room to enjoy relaxing, fishing, boating and swimming all week long. Inside was clean and comfortable, furnished with anything we may have needed for our stay. This was our first New Hampshire vacation and we hope to come back here again.

"Edgewood" provided the perfect location for family and friends to assemble from around the country. The house easily accommodated 14. The lake is quiet - providing hours of fishing, but also handles a powerboat for tubing and skiing. And the deck - hours of sunbathing, cocktails and conversation. The owners were responsive to special needs - such as early move-in and extra trash removal - as well as e-mail Q&A. We HIGHLY recommend vacationing at "Edgewood".
