Island Park cabin description
GREETINGS! Welcome to a slice of mountain paradise, a perfect choice for a small family reunion, fishing/hunting/ trip, corporate retreat, or simply a relaxing sightseeing vacation. Minutes from Yellowstone Park, this 3,400+ square foot cabin is located on a one acre wooded site and is the ideal location to capitalize your time and enjoy the outdoor bounty of the Yellowstone area.
Island Park sits in the world's largest caldera and your stay here is at it's centre which provides you boating, rafting, fishing, and RV activities right outside your door; the cabin is located 2 miles west of Highway 20 just off the Yale-Kilgore road on a private cul de sac drive, and just several hundred feet from Island Park reservoir, with easy boating access across the way in the public campground. A full RV hookup is on site adjacent to the parking to accommodate an extra RV or camper. You can easily access the wrap-around balcony deck.
Inside, you will appreciate the rustic-mountain decor of the home. The entrance puts you on the main level of the cabin, and as you walk into the living/conversation room adjacent to the kitchen and dining areas, you pass by the laundry/mudroom and main level bath. The living room features a thermostat controlled rock fireplace and is a warm and cozy area to relax and enjoy an after-dinner conversation about the day's events.
The granite-topped kitchen counter will easily seat 6-8 people as well as the adjoining dining area. The kitchen area is elongated in shape and is perfect for a two person team to conveniently prepare meals using the array of modern appliances and cooking utensils, including a walk-in pantry.
The main floor vaulted master suite adjoins this level via a step-down landing with access to the hot tub outside under the covered deck and the entrance to the bedroom area. The bedroom features a king-sized bed, bed/couch, satellite TV which controls the stereo in both the master, as well as the outside speakers for the hot tub. French doors open into the spacious master bath revealing a large jetted tub, separate counter sinks, a granite-tiled shower engraved with a lazered picture of Tower Falls in Yellowstone, and connected to a large cedar-lined walk-in closet.
Walking upstairs, you will enter a hallway; turning left leads into the second master bedroom, turning right will immediately put you in the upstairs west bedroom with queen-sized bed. This room also stores all the games, puzzles, extra chairs, porta-crib, etc. in the large cedar lined closet. The two upper bedrooms are divided by a shared full bath, including jetted tub, double counter sinks, and separate shower. The upstairs master bedroom features an elevated king size posted pine bed as well as a fold out couch/bed and walk in closet.
The downstairs level enjoys a large entertainment/game room as well as a bedroom with adjoining bath; this bedroom consists of the two twin beds, is super quiet for those that like to sleep a little late. Walking downstairs, you will come into the game room area that sports a full size slate pool table.
The daylight basement level offers access to the outside through double full windowed doors; the entertainment center is also on this level, is well-equipped, and provides for your viewing of your favorite movies and shows on the 42-inch flatscreen TV.
All media sources are available for play, whether DVD, Video, Ipod, or Satellite. You will enjoy your movies/music listening through the upgraded surround sound system as well the convenience of retrieving a cold beverage from the handy refrigerator at your leisure. Additionally, plenty of room exists here for the use of the airbeds (available on request) for extra guests as well as a 'sleepover' for the kid's enjoyment of a late night movie.
Use the cabin for rest, relaxation and planning your day's adventure; the outdoor activities are really too numerous to list. Make sure though, that you plan at least one float of either the Buffalo or Henrys Fork River if you come in summer, snowmobile to Mesa Falls if you come in winter.
When you call to reserve your time, please don't hesitate to ask for suggestions during your stay for places to go and things to do. We love to help and will put you in touch with the right locals if your interests involve services, albeit fly fishing, snowmobiling or sightseeing; we have enjoyed this area for over 25 years and know most of the local people.
Please, no smoking and no pets (without approval). We look forward to hearing from you.

Felt just like home and large enough to sleep up to 13 people. Better than the pictures could ever show. Never felt crowded.Even if you do not go into Yellowstone park there is so much to do very close. If you live within 300 miles, bring your food. The grocery store is far away in West Yellowstone and selection is limited. We only stayed 3 nights-not enough. We could have spent 7 nights and still not done and seen everything we wanted. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. We want to go back. The winter would be so enjoyable too. Definitely recommend!!!!!!

We had a great time! Layne and his staff were so helpful. The house was everything as it was described! We would definitely stay again. It was a perfect distance from Yellowstone for us. The bed layout was perfect for our group of 8. We are so glad we choose this house!

Xmas in Island Park
Xmas in Island Park
Our stay at the cabin was awesome. The snow was incrediable for late in December. The cabin is very comfortable as we had 6 people staying. Very close to the snowmobile trails and very easy to locate as it is just off the main road. Hot tub right out the door from the master bedroom.

This is a great cabin to rent. We had 8 adults and everything was very comfortable. Cabin was very clean and easy to get too. We had a visit by a Moose and her baby while we were there! I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to anyone!

Week in Island Park
Week in Island Park
Island Park and the Yellowstone area is a wonderful place to visit and we hit the jackpot by renting this cabin. It was well decorated and situated for my family to really enjoy. Besides being secluded yet easy to get to, it was within walking distance of a beautiful river to fish and take the grandkids to. Just right around the corner from Island Park Reservoir and a quick hop to Henry's Lake. We fished in the morning and rode ATV's until sunset. I would highly recommend this cabin and the Island Park location if you are looking for a wonderful and relaxing place for your next vacation.

Great Get-Away spot
Great Get-Away spot
Just returned from a 4-day vacation in this wonderful cabin. The pictures and information were right on. It was very conveniently located and easy to find, but was very private and quiet. It was very roomy and we didn't feel like we were in everyone else's way. The bedrooms were large, and it was nice to have plenty of bathrooms/showers! The kitchen was very functional and adequate. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub and sitting on the deck. The only down side would be that we didn't stay long enough. It also would have been nice to have a DVD player in the master bedroom so that there were two options for movies. I would definately consider renting this property again only for a longer period of time. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing your lovely home!
Thank you for sharing your lovely home!
I just have to drop you a line and say thanks for the great stay we had in your home! Wow what a place! I loved the furnishings, the well appointed bedrooms with yummie beds and that kitchen... nice open floor plan so I could enjoy all while cooking. Wish I had those knives at my house! :) Even though I don't fish it was so close to Yellowstone park, hiking, and all that outdoor fun that it worked well for me. I have stayed in many VRBO homes and this one is by far the best! Thank you!

Best of the Vacation West
Best of the Vacation West
This impeccably clean and tastefully furnished place still resonates with my wife and our three children whenever I mention it. Every detail in this home speaks reverently of the love this couple shares for living in close proximity to natural wonders, including Yellowstone and the Henry's Fork. Although we cooked inside the well-furnished kitchen most nights—or out on the grill on the deck—we also found superb dining at Philips Lodge (ten minutes away) and at Henry's Fork Lodge (twenty minutes away). I've since gone back alone for a week without my family on at least two recent occasions to find good food at The Trout Hunter as well. Because of frequent visits, I've become friendly with the owners who have always gone miles out of their way to make my stays worry-free. I hope the original water colors and oil paintings by Russell Case are still on the walls when I return, as I intend to do soon. I noticed in signing the guest book that at least one Hollywood actor had discovered what I had: one of the most distinguished and comfortable hideouts in the West at a price even a fly-fishing school teacher can afford (from time to time). I woke up one morning in the master bedroom to a view of the Grand Tetons in the far distance. On another morning I passed the fireplace and looked out the window and across the deck to see a moose staring back at me. Views from other windows are all pleasant, not spectacular, but extraordinary. The garage is big enough for two full-sized pickups, and the parking area is also ample. The neighbors are seldom if ever home, and even when they are, I never see or hear them. My family and I have seriously talked about spending another vacation together here. The house has three separate floors and three bathrooms, so everyone is guaranteed plenty of privacy. It might be a little big for a two-person romantic adventure, but not really, not if you appreciate grace and space, as my wife and I do. I keep recommending the place to friends and relatives, but so far no one has ever taken up the opportunity, which is why I decided to write a review.

About the owner: My wife and I have a long family history of enjoying the Island Park area and when the opportune time came up we did not have to choose where to locate our second home. No other place in the lower 48 states exists with all of the wonderful landscapes, outdoor amenities, and activities that Island Park offers. Island Park has been our 'second home' for over 25 years now; my wife is retired and I am semi-retired, which gives us more time to live in Island Park. We know you will enjoy your stay. Island Park is truly the 'Disneyland' of outdoor recreation for fun. Layne and Mary Hepworth
Why the Owner Chose Island Park:
This was our first vacation home which we custom designed and had built by a local contractor. Island Park has always been our 'second home' and this particular location is perfect access to all surrounding amenities of the area as it is centrally located and will provide you efficient use of your time no matter what outdoor activities you may choose. The cabin has recently been upgraded with all new living room and bedroom furniture, new bed linens, new trex decking on the wrap around balcony, and sprinkler landscaped yard. The home is located on a one acre wooded lot accessed by a private cul de sac drive with plenty of room for outdoor enjoyment as well as privacy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The unique location of this property gives you easy access to Island Park Reservoir for fishing and boating activities literally right outside your door. You will be only 15 minutes from fishing the famous Harriman Ranch section of the Henrys Fork River. Take a scenic walk along the reservoir or take your ATV or snowmobile on the numerous trails outdoors; you don't have to drive somewhere to start your adventure, you will be living it immediately when you step out the door. West Yellowstone is only 23 minutes away for shopping or entering Yellowstone Park. The scenic Mesa Falls is only 30 minutes away from your back door, which can be enjoyed all season long. This cabin is the epicenter for your outdoor activity fun. A convenient up-to-date guidebook is on hand for referencing the local restaurants, attractions, services, etc. as well as providing information about the use of the property.
