Located just twenty miles north of downtown San Diego is the surfing community of Solana Beach, where basking in the sun, running in the sand, and surfing in the waves, all lead to a good night’s sleep on the California coast. Jim’s Beach House offers a real vacation for your whole family or group at a reasonable price.
The home has four bedrooms, two with king-sized beds and two with queens, and two and a half baths, including a two person Jacuzzi tub and a huge granite shower. Equipped with a gourmet kitchen, the house is outfitted to make it easy to entertain elegantly. All bedroom, bath and dining linens, dishes, and serving ware are coordinated with the subtle, tropical décor of the home. The house has a barbecue and two outdoor lounging areas, garden, and solarium to enjoy the California sun.
Besides a great house, you get the Del Mar Race Track with off-track betting all year, and live horse racing from the middle of July through the middle of September. The Del Mar County Fair comes every year in the middle of June, and multiple exhibitions, and shows such as Cirque du Soleil, music, and horse events happen every weekend at the Fairgrounds.
The train station, the Cedros Design District, the beach, many fine restaurants, a Sunday farmers’ market, and great shopping are all within two blocks of the house. Legoland, Seaworld, the Aquarium, the Wild Animal Park, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park and the Old Globe are within easy driving distance. Torrey Pines Golf course hosted the U.S. Open last year, and there area slew of wonderful courses to play throughout North County San Diego. You can even get to Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm by walking to the train and taking a one hour ride to Anaheim and there, a free shuttle to the amusement parks.

We raised our family in Solana Beach and love the sun and surf, shopping and seaside feel to our town. Our 2007 remodeled home is now our family vacation home too. We designed it with all the luxury a relaxed vacation should offer with the comforts of a real home. When we get together here with our grown children, we want a luxurious vacation including nice towels and linens, decorative dining, and comfortable spaces for us all to enjoy the pleasure of being together once again. We love the indoor/outdoor lifestyle of our home, and the easy walking access to the beach, restaurants, morning coffee, and Cedros Design District that's full of antiques, shops, and the Belly-Up Tavern- host to great music every night. We have all walked the block and a half to the free, double-decker bus that takes you right to the gate at the racetrack -no need to pay to park. We have all taken the coaster to Padre Stadium downtown and even to Disneyland in Anaheim. But what I love the most is "dawn-patrol," when our sons get a chance to grab their boards and run down to the beach to surf, and come home all sandy for breakfast.

People with family and friends have time and again reminded us of how much more relaxed they were staying all together in our house, rather than renting hotel rooms. Being able to have a home base, everyone is able to come and go as they please, but also cook and eat together, stay up late with the stars in the solarium, lounge on the decks, and share the day's events over the barbecue with a glass of wine. Having a big table indoors and out creates the intimate, California easy, living, that extended families and groups of close friends can relish, as they get the time to catch up and revisit what is important in life, while having an array of activity and events within easy reach.
