We just completed our $100,000 remodel creating a very unique and upscale unit. “Spectacular” is the word everyone is using to describe the place. You will not find another 1 bedroom like it in Menehune Shores, or in all of Kihei! We are looking to share our unit with those that appreciate the finer things in life. With that said, we do not offer any discounts, we would rather rent it less and reduce the wear and tear so it remains spectacular in the future.
Unit 412 is on the 4th floor in the front center of the building offering a very private lanai and is the closes you can get to the water. When you are sitting on the lanai you hear the waves flowing over the lava wall that creates the historical fish pond, while enjoying spectacular views/sunsets. During whale season (Jan – Mar) you can watch the whales as they breach. It’s extremely relaxing and romantic. The unit does have A/C in both the living room and bedrrom, which is unique for
Menehune Shores.
Menehune Shores is next to the historical 16th Century Alii (Royal) fish Pond of Kalepolepo.
Protected by off shore reefs, the pond provides safe swimming for children and those adults wishing to swim in the smooth waters of the pond. This is also a great place to swim with the green sea turtles. There is a solar heated swimming pool with a large sunbathing deck overlooking the ocean. Palm trees surround the grassy landscaped areas around the complex and there are miles of sandy beaches for sunning or strolling. We are located next to the
Whale Sanctuary where you can check on the history and informative information on the Humpback Whales, green sea turtles and other ocean creatures. On the south side of the Sanctuary there is a beautiful sandy beach for swimming and snorkeling. The rooftop garden is a great place to cook outdoors on our gas grills and enjoy the picnic tables for a family outing. From the rooftop you have a Spectacular panoramic view of the ocean, upcountry of Haleakala, West Maui Mountains, the island of Kaho'olawe, and the Molokini Island Crater. This is also a great place to watch the Humpback whales in season, (December through April)
For more island excitement there is a near by Canoe Club that will take you on a wonderful experience of a six man outrigger canoe ride.
The unit offers a Widescreen TV (with cable), Home Theater/Entertainment Surround System with blue-ray DVD and wifi to connect to NetFlix. There is high speed internet which can be connected either by a network cable (there is one onsite) or wireless. There is a printer for printing your boarding passes or directions to your activities.

This was our first trip to Maui (celebrating 25th anniversary). Had an awesome time! The condo was everything and more that was described. Took awesome pics from the balcony that are now enlarged and hanging on my wall at home. Facinated with watching the whales and turtles from our balcony. We would definitely return to this condo for another visit. ThanksRecommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

Listing description was accurate---well-appointed and quality renovation. Owner was helpful in his communications. Unfortunately the wind was gale force a lot of the time and there was a lot of dust, to which my partner was allergic. The condo faces west which keeps it cooler during the day and makes for a good sunset view. We enjoyed the Indian restaurant which was part of the complex---very good food!!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Maui was magical for my birthday... and this unit was what helped make it so great! They did a fabulous job on the remodel. The kitchen has all you need ~ fully equipped. We enjoyed the amenities such as iPod connector to a great sound system to enjoy our favorite tunes. The WiFi a nice bonus. The bed was TRULY comfortable ~ slept like a baby. Unit is on the 4th Floor which gives you privacy and a view with killer sunsets. Next time we are in Maui we are here! A gem of a place to stay and I almost didn't want to leave feedback because I don't want to secret out. : ) But they deserve a big MAHALO for sharing their special place!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We enjoyed our few days at Captain Tom's. The upgrades to the condo are very nice indeed. We found the location paticularly convenient as we were there on business and most of our customers were within a 20 min. car ride. The beach and water were not as lovely as usual. The tsnuami last spring took away the sand and the water is murky. It is also a bit difficult to get away from the sun in the afternoon because there are no window coverings, but evenings on the lanai are wonderful! Thanks for a comfortable place to call home in the Islands.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Sorry about the sun, the custom blinds we purchased for the remodel didn’t fit and we ran out of time on island before we could get some news ordered/installed. Nice Ocean View. Enjoyed sitting out. Very nice, well equipped well kept Condo. Kihei Caffe great place for breakfast, Oceans Bar & Grill was great for Dinner. Many other shops and restaurants close by. Took a short drive to Altantis Submarine. Highly recommend. Drove to Haleakala National Park to see the volcano crater. Many beaches to enjoy, nearby Attractions a short drive.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Whales Turtles Wonderful ocean view from lanai. This condo is very well equiped and nicely set up. Very comfortable bed and good shower. The unit is well situated in the building for the view and the owner is great to work with. It would be hard to find a unit this close to the ocean and at this price in Kihei.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
