One never knows what to expect when finding a place to stay online. Never know if the pictures that they display are doing it justice...well this place when you walk in is exactly how you see it in the pictures. The garden is so comfortable to be in and you feel secluded from the world and then you walk around the neighborhood and there is so much to see and do. Dan gave us such good tips on where to eat and every place Mexican ,Thai the Atlas, what treats! The owners are thoughtful about giving you space but Dan was there when we needed to touch base. We slept well and the time with my friend of 35 years was made more special by being here. I would recommend this place to by friends and family with no hesitation. In fact my sister and brother-in-law live about a hour away and they came by..said what a wonderful place and they would consider staying the next time they came to the City. Thanks for the great place!

We spent 4 days and 5 nights at the Mission Garden Retreat and it was perfect. Great location for foodies and travelers who want to live like the locals! It's a comfortable and cozy spot to come home to after a long day of walking, eating and sight-seeing. The queen-size bed was extremely comfortable and we loved going to sleep listening to the water fountain outside our window. The apartment is within easy walking distance from great restaurants and shopping on Valencia. The bus lines and BART are also just a few blocks away. Dan replied to all of our emails and answered our questions very quickly. He provided better service (at a better price) than I've EVER gotten at a hotel. I will suggest the Mission Garden apartment to any of my friends traveling to SF and would be happy to stay here again!

My husband and I stayed in this lovely retreat while we were visiting with our daughter who is living in San Francisco this year while she does volunteer service. She was able to stay with us on the futon in the living room and we all enjoyed our time there. The apartment is colorful, comfortable, and the outdoor patio/garden offered a lovely connection to the outdoors. I loved staying in the Mission. It gave me a feeling of living in a neighborhood, eating and drinking coffee at local establishments and for the five days I was there, a sense of belonging. Lots of love and care when into this little retreat. Many thanks.

I stayed here for two nights. The owners made it so easy, with clear instructions, a clean and relaxing place, fully equipped for a longer stay. It includes a lovely kitchen, dishes, etc. It's a great location, close to lovely streets with shops and restaurants. There's even a hair dryer in the bathroom! It's clean, and the garden is so pretty. So much more personal than a hotel. I was only sorry that I couldn't stay longer! I hope to return on my next visit to SF!

Spent four days in this amazing little apartment in the lovely mission district of San Francisco. The apartment was everything we were expecting and more. Extremely clean and tidy; lovely decor; great location; excellent value for money. This was our first time in San Francisco and it was a perfect introduction. Dan, the owner, went out of his way to make sure that our stay was pleasant. A nice bottle of Pinot Noir was waiting for us when we arrived: nice touch! We arrived relatively late on Good Friday and he was able to give us a few options for a late dinner. We chose to go to El Metate which is just around the corner. Amazing!!! Ate there three times it was so good and affordable. Would recommend this to anyone. We are a family of four (2 adults + 2 teenagers) and it was totally comfy. Final recommendation: find your way to Dolores Park and have a picnic; then walk down Dolores Avenue. It is lined with beautiful old homes that have been lovingly restored. (We actually walked all the way to Golden Gate Park (1 hour)). We loved it and wished we'd had more time. Hope to be back someday soon.

I was visiting my son for a week in San Francisco and he hooked me up with this apartment in the Mission district. I am 61 yrs old and this review will sound like it is being done by a giddy 12 yr old, but I just could not believe what a wonderful place this was to call home for the week. As I told Dan, I could not find a negative thing to say. Kitchen was fully furnished and had all appliances and utensils anyone would need. Bed was very comfortable. Living room/kitchen area was warm and spacious. Had this been a hotel it would have easily been a $250 or more per night suite. Kudos to Dan and VRBO.

I took my daughter on her first trip to San Francisco and chose this lovely apartment as our base. It was every thing described and pictured and much more. Dan is very well organized and corresponds regularly from the time of booking to arrival. He provided a list of great restaurants and all details regarding the apartment were located in a very handy binder in the apartment. Dan was also available if we had a question. The apartment was spotlessly clean and provided all amenities promised. The private garden was lovely. We were a short walk to the BART station and the MUNI was also close by. Their were great coffee houses within walking distance. I frequented the Progressive Cafe right around the corner. We ate at the Atlas Cafe and the Mexican restaurant, El Metate, at the end of the street. Both were excellent. All in all, I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting SF. It is a colorful, vibrant neighborhood and Dan helped make our first experience with VRBO a great one. We hope to return soon!

My friend and I had a wonderful experience in this garden retreat. The garden is indeed there, green and very well arranged with a fountain and table and chairs. Unfortunately there was so much to visit in SF during our 5 days stay that we didn't have time to enjoy it. The apartment is very cute, as colorful as the neighborhood. It is decorated with taste and seems brand new. We even had fresh flowers to welcome us and our personal art exhibition (paintings from local artists). The kitchen has everything you need to make your own food and to feel like home. The bed was amazingly comfortable. There's a futon in the living room where my friend slept. There are even a couple of books you can borrow including guidebooks on the area. The location is great : a quiet street in Mission, a lively and colorful neighborhood, close to a Bart station and bus stations too. Cheap and delicious mexican restaurant around the corner too. Dan is a busy family man but still found time to give us great advice on what to see in SF and also around. He even lent us his tent for our small road trip down the coast and to Yosemite. Thanks to him we had fun camping and saved money on hotel rooms. He really cared about our holidays and did everything to help us have a good time there. We'll never thank you enough Dan ! And also, he likes Paris and the French... Our advice : one of the best apartments in town !
