Located atop a gorgeous 160-acre almond orchard, this romantic two-bedroom suite comes complete with plush-and-cozy bedrooms, spacious living room, dining areas (indoor AND outdoor), and full kitchen. Private entrance, and unforgettable views surround you. Hike along the creek, wander through the wooded acres, and stroll the fairy-tale hillside with butterflies, songbirds and an occasional deer. Bring your camera for the world-class red-sky sunsets!
Paso Robles is located on the beautiful Central Coast of California, half-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Known for its mineral waters, fine dining, wine tasting and unforgettable events and entertainment such as the annual Mid-State Fair in July.
We're close to Lake Nacimiento and Lake San Antonio, so there's plenty of water-sport fun. The historical missions of San Miguel, San Athonio and San Luis Obispo are nearby. San Luis is known for its array of hip and delicious restaurants and super-fun shopping. Lots of stuff to do there!
Cruise along Highway One, one of the most scenic drives in the world. Elephant seals migrate along the shoreline, along with otters and sea lions. Historic San Simeon and Hearst Castle are a short drive away.
Cayucos, also close by, is a haven for surfers and has many taverns along the old main street. Morro Bay's 600-foot-tall volcanic rock, and its many fun shops, are just a 30-minute drive away, and so are the wonderful beach towns of Cambria and Baywood Park.

Not to repeat what has already been said, but really, the panoramic views are something you'll never forget. You have everything you need at this property for any length vacation. We even drove up to find fresh eggs from the chicken coop sitting on the patio table, then walked into to find a nice bottle of wine waiting for us. There are several wineries within a 10 minute drive. Can't ask for much more in a rental property. Thank you Maria!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

As the other reviewers have gushed aplenty about the views (which are indeed spectacular), allow me to cover some of the other features. Location: It is about three minutes' drive from Paso Robles proper, but it feels miles away. You are totally buffered from civilization's grasp in this hilltop retreat. At night, it is dead quiet, an amazing lack of noise for us city slickers. And when the sky is clear, oh, the stars! The apartment is attached to Maria's house, as a lower-unit, rather than as a stand-alone cottage. But Maria is quiet as a mouse, and the most you hear of Maya The Wonder Pup is the occasional tick-tack of her paws. If you are lucky, Maya will come for a cheerful visit, as will Mister Whiskers, the friendliest cat in the world. The property: Maria has 160 acres of almond groves situated on rolling hills. All of it is available for hiking, and the wildlife is ever-present (such as red-tailed hawks swooping on thermals, a family of deer nibbling away, lots of wee creatures dashing about). It is a fantastic way to start your day. Inside, there are two beds, a king which is very firm, and a double which is more plush and pillowy. The kitchen is fully functional, if you are into cooking your own dinner instead of going to one of Paso's many great restaurants. There's Satellite TV for those who cannot miss their European soccer action. One important thing: There is no wi-fi Internet connection here. For us, this was a blessing, a chance to unplug from the Internet and reconnect with each other. And if it's absolutely essential, your phone's 3G connection can pick up an okay signal from a nearby cell tower. But if you are one of those people who have an umbilical cord to the Internet, fair warning. All in all, a tremendous vacation location, and definitely one of the best VRBO values in Paso Robles. Definitely wish to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My wife and I, our 43 year-old daughter and almost 4 year-old granddaughter spent 2 very nice nights here. It was perfect for our wine visit to Paso Robles after visiting my 108 year-old mother-in-law in Reedley, CA. We enjoyed the views, cooking two very nice dinners (we are excellent cooks), and going for a nice hike down into the ravine and back up again. We loved the solitude and quietness of the ranch, yet close to Justin and Tablas Creek wineries, the ones we wanted to visit. Also, it is just a few miles from Paso Robles if you did not want to cook. I researched many places as we planned our trip from Minnesota and I was not disappointed. Thank you , Maria, for sharing your property on the hill. My husband and I along with two friends stayed at this wonderful hilltop property. It is extremely quiet and private. We found the pictures to be very accurate and the property very clean. The views are never ending. The patio in front is a great place for moring coffee or evening wine! There is great hiking all around the property. We had a great time with Maria and her animals and we really appreciated the fresh eggs. The kitchen had everything that we needed and was very well stocked. This property is very close to 46 West, a wonderful place to go wine tasting. We will definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My friends and I came up from Los Angeles for a girl's knitting and crocheting weekend. Like others who have left reviews, I felt the views to be breath taking and few photographs could do them justice. Maria was very welcoming and generous. The entire property is a reflection of the love she has for family, being a mother, her work, and simply for life. One can not help but feel this passion when staying there. Mr. Whiskers and Mia, along with the chickens, all made the stay even more enjoyable. Also, we couldn't have asked for a better location.Yarn shopping and the wineries were a quick drive away. I will definitely be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks so much Dionne, what a great group of women, everyone of you are inspiring. I'm so glad you felt so welcomed. Maria Jongeling (owner).

We very much enjoyed our stay and would love to come back to stay again. The pictures online don't do this place justice. The main living room is somewhat country-modern in feel with lots of windows to admire the amazing views of Paso. I would have been happy to lounge and drink wine while admiring the view without ever leaving. The location is great and convenient to wineries throughout the area, downtown Paso Robles, and the freeway. The owner is super nice, and very easy to get along with. I recommend this property over a hotel any day!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This place was absolutely amazing! They are not exaggerating about the views in any way, and the pictures definitely don't do it justice. Although the views are the highlight of this place, the house was very nice and Maria made us feel very welcome there. It was the perfect place for our weekend getaway and although we felt very secluded up on the hill it was great being close to everything. Thanks again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful spot to spend the weekend. The pictures of the views on this site do not do justice to what you will see once you get there. Maria was extremely helpful and informative and Mr. Wiskers (the cat) was entertaining to say the least! It rained all weekend, but we felt warm and cozy inside. Its close enough to town and the wineries, but far enough to provide great privacy and seclusion. Never had a better night sleep - even better than my own home! We will definetly consider staying again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

About the owner: We are proud owners of this property. We were born and raised in Holland, and migrated to the United States 45 years ago. We hold the spirit of hospitality, and enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. As a Licensed (MFC35619) Marriage Family Therapist, I invite individuals and couples for Weekend Retreats or spiritual direction at this beautiful location (per reservation).
Why the Owner Chose Paso Robles:
We love our property, and its location. The rolling hills and valleys display a scenic view of old almond orchards, which were dry-farmed and its almonds shipped all over the world.
Each year in February we look out on a valley of almond blossoms. We enjoy the surrounding quaint towns with their antique stores, wineries and art galleries with art from many local artists.
We enjoy the coastal range of the Santa Monica Mountains for picnics and hiking trails, and the Pacific Ocean for surfing.
Our home, and accompanying private suite, were built by Abraham, who is a master carpenter and general contractor. He built everything with his customary old-school Dutch perfectionism and love for rich detail.
We enjoy the panoramic views which changes with each sunrise and sunset.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
Living here provides an environment of serenity, with peaceful walks, hiking, and opportunity for unique photography. Watersports at nearby lakes are a wonderful entertainment for our children and grandchildren.
We enjoy the historical sites, our many trips to the beach, and wine tasting and dining in a vast variety of unique restaurants.
